Mayfield ends their three game losing streak with a win on the road over the Tigers.
-
Case of a good player obtaining inflated numbers through a weak schedule. I would like to have seen what kind of numbers he would have put up against Mayfield's schedule or Fort Campbell's schedule.
I wholeheartedly disagree with that statement. He can throw the post, fly, swing, curl, screen, and fade routes with great accuracy. I like Haskins' quote in the Paducah Sun, most quarterbacks in this state can't put up those numbers against air.

WOW!! Purple Flash totally dominate this game and stay undefeated. Lone Oak's defense hold a strong ground game in check as they stay finely tuned before their class 4A run. Corey Robinson tosses 7 touchdown passes as they play at rival Heath next week.

Back to fine arts and music, though. I'm all for that stuff, I think it is great, but at the sametime, I'm also not nieve enough to think that those programs can and/or would have a positive effect on a school like a GREAT football, basketball, baseball (or all within the same school) program(s) would and DO have. They just don't...never have and unfortunately, probably never will. So, why dump a ridiculous amount of money into programs that, more than likely, you will never see a profit made from??
This is exactly why the arts need more funds: Music and fine arts have been around for thousands of years, football for a little over a hundred years. What's more important in the whole scheme of things?
-
Wasn't there an article basically accusing Saint Xavier and Trinity of doing this a couple of weeks ago?
Listen, any program that's largely successful for any length of time is very, very shady to say the least. The only one that I'm almost certain is clean is the DeLasalle program in California.
I love high school sports but I find it very offensive that schools poor in so much money to their athletics and simply ignore other aspects such as academics, fine arts, and music.

Lone Oak's Corey Robinson!
The numbers speak for themselves: 163-216 for 2,388 yards, 44 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions so far this season.
If he doesn't win player of the year then whoever beats him is awfully good or the voters are obviously biased. He's led Lone Oak to a 7-0 start and a top ten ranking. This is extremely impressive because they're usually a doormat and their only playoff win came way back in 1991.
-
According to the Kentucky Football Coaches Association, he got #200 earlier this year.
They honored him tonight. Probably because the Paducah Sun, according to their stats, had the win over Reidland as his 200th victory.

WOW!!!!!! That Lone Oak win over Calloway looks even better now!!!! The big question is will the Oakers be ranked ahead of Boyle in the BGP poll?
-
So can we please realize now that Boyle is not a top 10 team?
No doubt!!! I'm tired of seeing the northern and eastern Kentucky bias in the BGP poll. 1-6 is 1-6, no matter how you slice it!

The Purple Flash keep rolling as they defeat the Greyhounds in the first leg of the McCracken County championship. Congrats to coach Haskins for picking up his 200th career victory!
-
Robinson throws for about 275 yards and five touchdowns!
-
Remember that En Vogue song??? Back to life, back to reality!!!
-
Impressive road win for the Oakers as they capture their first district title since 1982!!! :ylsuper:
-
I have no idea why people voted this the game of the week on WPSD.
-
Early and often for the Oakers as they push their record to 5-0. The Purple Flash had a 56-6 halftime lead and put it in cruise control in the second half.
-
Robinson runs in a quarterback draw in overtime to secure a great road victory for the Purple Flash!
-
Lone Oak's Daniel Edwards intercepted Calloway's possession. Lone Oak's ball 1st and goal from the 10.
-
Sure thing. Game is heading into overtime.
-
Lone Oak 28
Calloway County 28
22.2 seconds left in the game

They need to keep winning and hope someone above them loses some games. Lone Oak's schedule is doing them no favors when it comes to the rankings.
Fairdale and Boyle County both lost this week. I'm curious how many voters from BGP have actually seen Lone Oak play?
-
Yeah, but Obion was hammered in their first two losses, too ... they weren't very competitive with those teams.
I don't consider losing to the #10 ranked team in 3A, Ripley, by a score of 26-7 as getting "hammered".
-
The Marshals squeak their way to move their record back to .500. Much, much closer game than I had expected.
-
Caldwell County's senior Ben Dillingham had a big 4th quarter interception to secure the Tigers second straight win. Heath falls to 2-2 on the season.
-
When will the BGP rankings give the Oakers some respect? Early and often for the Purple Flash who actually played quite sloppy tonight. Corey Robinson's arm was slinging the ball all across the field again with 364 yards passing.

Lone Oak clinches their first undefeated regular season with a big road win over their county rivals.
