Lone Oak quarterback Corey Robinson threw for seven touchdowns tonight against Calloway County, giving him a total for 81 this season. He breaks the national record which was previously held by Thomas Thrash (77 touchdown passes in a single season) who played for Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. Congrats to this young man! :dancingpa

There seems to be a dispute whether he had six or seven touchdown passes. The official scorer claims seven. I'm sure we'll hear more about this in the local press this week concerning a better explanation.
-
I thought Corey threw for 6 td's, I think on one the ball was fumbled and picked up by another player and ran in for a td. Does that still count as a passing td? Corey probably set his career individual passing yards game tonight; at least 500 yards. He also ran a td in as well.
As the announcer was signing off, he said the official scorekeeper had ruled it a touchdown pass, giving him seven for the evening. I guess we'll wait and see what the Paducah Sun box score states.

I think I caught on the radio that they said this is coach Edwards first playoff win. If so congrats. If not congrats anyway!

This sets up the big showdown at Lone Oak next weekend.
-
4 seed Heath over #1 seed Caldwell County would be considered an upset on paper. Not too big of one though in my eyes.
-
They host their first playoff game since 1968 and the Bulldogs also get their first playoff win since that date. Extra sweet to them that it happens over their rivals.
-
Water down the classes, let 90% of the teams make the playoffs, and beat downs like this will occur in the first round.

Lone Oak quarterback Corey Robinson threw seven touchdown passes tonight. He now has a total of 74 this season, three behind the national record.

The Marshals advance past the first round for the first time in seven years!
-
After a sluggish first quarter, the Oakers caught fire and get their first ever home playoff win.

The fourth seeded Pirates upset the #1 seed Caldwell County. The Pirates ground it out style slowly wore out the Tigers. Congrats on a great season though Caldwell County.

I will say that there may be a question of "class" in running up the score and imo that would fall upon the coach for having his starter in the game that late when it (game) has been decided and/or still passing the ball.
This imo is a classless act by the coach & staff but not the kid. He was doing his job.
No classless act has occurred. Just wanting to stay sharp and instill in his players to play the entire 48 minutes. The Patriots have been accused of running the score this season too but in their previous game with the Colts, they played the full length of the game like they had been used to and came out victorious.
-
If Lone Oak plays a full 48 minutes to keep sharp for their playoff run, they could get close to hitting the century mark on the scoreboard.

In the far west, there are two games that have a remote possibility of a 4 seed upending the 1 seed. They are Henderson County over Marshall County and Heath over Caldwell County. I don't think either will happen but I do think Henderson County has the best shot from the two aforementioned games.

WPSD will be showing a live webcast, on demand, of the first round playoff game between Mayfield and Crittenden County. What a great service and I hope this catches on with other media outlets across the state. Here's the link: Mayfield vs. Crittenden County LIVE WEBCAST

With their bleak football history, Lone Oak should just take one game at a time and not look too far down the road. I know Calloway County is licking their chops for a rematch and I've only seen snippets of Marion County, Bullitt East, and North Bullitt but they're no pushovers either.

In this politically correct world everyone is a winner. This new class system is a complete joke and I'm sorry to see that it has been turned into a circus. I hope the powers that be in basketball take a good hard look at this format and realize that they should keep their current system and not water it down like football.

Did Robinson break the KY state TD passing record? He started the game with 59 for the year...
Congrats to Lone Oak and Coach Haskins on the perfect season!
Yep, I started a new thread about this!

Lone Oak quarterback Corey Robinson breaks the KHSAA single season touchdown passing record. He tossed 8 touchdown passes against Heath to give him a total of 67 for the year. Lexington Catholic's Justin Burke had previously held the record with 62 TD's for a single season.
