  1. I heard there was a little "imbalance" of free throws. Does anybody know the exact free throw totals? I heard around 40 to 15, favor of NL. A little "homering"?

I think the free throw discrepency was due to Dixie's style of pressure defense. They overplay every player with a lot of pressure. I've seen some very lopsided officiating this season (some in NL's favor), I even mentioned in a thread or two. I did not notice any bias towards the home team in this one. I did notice some extremely biased officiating against NL by one of the three officials. Until the last 30 seconds of the game, every single whistle that he blew was against NL. At a crucial moment of the game he even gave Dixie a time out without posession of the ball. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

On a more positive note...Seidel has been unbelievable for NL this season. Yet another buzzer beater to either win, or send the game into OT. IMO Adrian Wardrup's emergence, and understanding of his role, has been a big key in the way NL has been playing. That, along with the improvement of their late game press, could make a very dangerous team come tournament time. Also: 32 for Dixie is a player!

  2. In the 13th I feel like Jackson Co. could be the suprise team, If they use a steady diet of going into Brumback and a couple of the others step-up big time they could be right there. Does their district seed or draw? Could affect this.

They draw, and since Jackson County is the swing vote on whether to vote or seed, I would love to see the draw cost them a trip to the Regional Tournament.

  3. When Stenzel went out with the injury with about 4 min. to go in the game the Cards were up 7.. It went downhill from there. Both Miller and Williams foul out which led to several turnovers. North is a very solid team that they have two solid lefty's that can drain the 3. If they are on they are a very dangerous team...

I thought Stenzel went our with a little over a minute left in the game. NL was down 7 with about 3:30 left in the game, began pressing, and GRC didn't handle it very well. What a shot by Seidel to send it to overtime. It was about a 25 footer, with 3 GRC defenders all over him. They actually could have called a foul on the shot.

  4. Texas gave up over 30 6 times this year. How many did UCF score on USF? I knew you guys would champion a superior defensive effort to quantify a 10-3 game over a CUSA team. I just got the jump... :p

12 on #5 (at the time) USF. This is exactly 4 times the points that MSU gave up.

  5. Nope. It was still a pitiful offensive performance against an average at best D. But keep drinking the kool ade..

Holding a Conference Champion that averages 38+ points to only 3 not impressive? I think you must be mixing something in the the kood ade that your drinking. Hooch anyone?

  6. Texas gave up over 30 6 times this year. How many did UCF score on USF? I knew you guys would champion a superior defensive effort to quantify a 10-3 game over a CUSA team. I just got the jump... :p

By looking at the facts, your "jump" appeared to be more of a "fall". :ylsuper:

  7. I just watched the game online. Maybe you should check it out. Didn't see that many "lopsided" calls. Saw MC hacking a lot. Reaching in, swatting at balls, and just plain holding the Corbin players. Check it out and then give your opinion instead of all the "unbiased opinions" lol.

I think you underestimate the 13th Region as well. Knox Central is very good, Clay County is good, Cumberland is Very good, Middlesboro is good, Pineville is good, Lynn Camp is good, North and South Laurel both have good teams. There are plenty of good teams in the 13th.

I can see you are anti-Corbin for some reason. It's cool. I am one of those "non-biased" guys you speak of. Corbin isn't my team at all. I just know good basketball when I see it. I have a new moto though...."when in doubt, blame it on the refs"

I am not a "Corbin Hater" as you would state. I live 3 hours from here and was in town visiting and decided to watch a game between two good teams. What I saw, IMO, was lopsided officiating. I know alot of people who would agree with that assumption. Corbin is a good team, like I said before. Since you insist on calling me a "Corbin Hater" I can't help but question your fanhood, because you are obviously a Corbin fan stating these comments.

The 13th Region is better this year, but like you said, they have plenty of good teams. The 11th have 3 to state title contenders.

  8. I've got a couple extra rooms at the West End Hampton Inn. It's about 1 mi from the strip on Broadway, a very nice hotel that we stayed at last year. They have a shuttle to the game, but Cab fare was less than $10. PM me if anyone needs one, I can switch it over. I think they are around $175 per night.

  9. I'm amazed at what Corbin as been able to do without Crawford so far this season. This was a 4 pt game at the half. With Johnson and Manns on the bench in the 3rd quarter having subpar games, Corbin was able to explode with a 26-8 third quarter to open the game up. If they are able to work Crawford back in without disrupting chemistry they are head and shoulders above everyone else in the 13th.

I agree, but I also think this is much easier said than done.

  10. How about the obvious foul on the big kid that they let go...would have been 5! How about the steal Corbin made only to get the whistle called after the fact... Just a few...maybe not enough to make up for all the calls against MC I guess.

I thought you didn't watch it?

Madison Central could compete for the 11th if they had a shooter or two. I've watched them play the last two nights, and haven't noticed anyone who can hit the 3 with any consistency.

  11. Brothers Johnson in Dayton's Hara Arena, around 1977-78. I was a teenager, and my older sister took me. We were the ONLY 2 white people in the concert. Decent show, she has quite the personality, we ended up being the life of the party, dancing with many, and we ended up having a great time.

  12. This was a great game to watch. Typical game played at JCHS, very physical play. NL made an excellent comeback after being down a bunch early. Officiating went from nearly out of control, allowing all sorts of contact, to very tightly called at the very end.

Brumback is an animal, and uses the glass like an old school player. I really like watching him play. I don't know why JC quit going to him for such a long stretch.

I like NL's chances a lot in a rematch in the District Tournament, which I believe is at NL.
