Sorry for the delayed update, I had the halftime update written out and the the last 2 minutes of the half took forever!

Scott had a long drive for a TD that used up a fair amount of clock in early Q2. Scott also had a nice drive that scored a TD at the buzzer. 31-14 Conner at Half

Funny story, my sister volunteered last minute to work the Conner band boosters concessions stand. Given the struggles of this year’s varsity team, she called me excited after the game to tell me Conner must have a good class coming up because the freshman beat Highlands by almost 50. I laughed and said, that’s not possible you must have read the score backwards. She swore she didn’t and said she heard them announcing Cougar TDs! After I told her again that I didn’t believe it, she told me she’d text her friend to prove she was right. She called me back 15 mins later and said, “I guess I really wasn’t paying attention to the game.”?

It’s also worth noting that late in the second half (I believe the score was still tied at 1), a Conner player blasted an absolute rocket shot from 30yds+ that was headed to the upper corner. As awesome as the shot was, the Dixie keeper made an equally amazing save. Honestly, possibly the best long shot and save combo that I’ve seen at any level of soccer.

Good description of the game. I’m not sure what the rule book says about calling back a play that went that far beyond the missed call but I do think the ball legit went out of bounds off Conner. Linesman immediately signaled for a Dixie throw but center ref was watching the clearance and didn’t see the flag up. It was a ball cleared out of the air, that looked to be over the sideline. Unfortunate that the counterattack ended up scoring and then being called off. That said, I understand the refs decision to bring it back and restart the last 15 sec.
