1st pitcher
24 years old 33 GS 9-16 4.88 era
75 BB 140 K. -.5 WAR
2nd pitcher
25 years old 19 GS 7-9 5.10 era
72 BB 117 K. -.8 WAR
Can you guess the 2 pitchers?
Is there that much difference

Clapp was the guy that followed the guy that followed the legend.
I didn’t know that. I actually do not know anything about the situation. Maybe I should just come down there and coach the team since I am clueless about it.
-
That hurts!

First rule in searching for coaching jobs. NEVER be the guy that follows a legend. Be the guy that follows the guy that followed a legend.

I am sooooo going to sound like Chris Welsh here, but...I don't really care about what the radar gun says. Can the kid hit his spots? Can he change speeds? Does he have a good #2 or #3? Can he get hitters out? Can he do it multiple times? Does he have the endurance to last more than 5 innings? Look, if the kid ends up being the second coming of Aroldis Champan and can pump heaters by people all day long, then great.
But, I'd much rather he become a good pitcher, instead of just a hard thrower.
(Not knocking your report Sportsmaniac, just that it seems we rely on the radar gun too much as to how a kid is progressing.)
I would agree with you Cincy Sports Fan! I couldn’t tell about his location from where I was sitting. His 2nd pitch seemed pretty good. He still has work to do, but for a 19 year old I thought he looked good.

I would never bet against Tebow. He has the IT factor.

Hunter Greene shines again; Home Runs for everyone | redsminorleagues.com
Hunter Greene took the mound in Dayton on Wednesday night and he put together another strong start for the Dragons. The 18-year-old dominated the Great Lakes Loons over 6.0 innings. Greene walked two batters and struck out seven, while giving up just three hits on the night. The righty needed just 78 pitches to get through his six frames of work.
Over his last nine starts, dating back to May 12th, Greene has made nine starts and posted a 2.68 ERA. That’s come in 43.2 innings pitched where he’s walked just nine batters and he’s struck out 49 batters. He’s been flat out dominating the Midwest League for the last six weeks and there’s no sign that he’s slowing down.
He's been great since his rocky start.
I went up to Dayton and watched him pitch last night. He hit 99 on the gun once. His fastball was consistently at 97 until the top of 4th after a really long bottom of the 3rd. He finished the game st 94 or 95. He threw several nice slider/curves at 83. He was dominant! Very impressed.

You keep harping on Cincy being a bad sports city. What exactly makes a city a good one?
Fans actually go to games and support the team. The Reds fans do not go to games except for opening day. They don’t support the team.

If you pair Harvey with Duvall, you might get a decent prospect.
-
Faced 4 batters. Allowed a 2B. Got the next 2 guys (in a situation where doing so was more important than not allowing the 2 runs in) and then allowed a bases empty single with 2 outs. Not a great outing, but not turrrible.
I agree! Of course Thom Brennamen made it sound like he got shelled!

I was thinking about the future of the Reds and their every day lineup and had some thoughts. I know they are not the Big Red machine, but one thing I think people forget about that team was how players switched positions when they got new players. Rose went from 2B to LF, to 3B. Perez went from 3B to 1B. I think the Reds should consider the following lineup for next year:
C - Barnhardt
1B - Votto
2B - Gennett we need to sign him
SS - Suarez
3B - Senzel
LF - Winker
CF - Peraza
RF - Schebler
The Reds continue to play Hamilton because they have no other outfielder who can consistently play CF. Peraza played it the first year here when he came up. He holds it down for a couple years until Trammel gets here.
-
I am glad Harvey is pitching good, but I would trade him for prospects. I don’t think he will sign with the Reds in the offseason so get something for him.
-
Why are Cincinnati fans so negative? We have one of the best hitters in the game and I see more people complaining about him instead of embracing him. Does anyone else think that the negativity of Marty and Thom Brennamen effect the fans of Cincinnati?

If I was leading a shoe company and trying to get into the market against NIKE I would go after an elite guard. Kids will relate to a high flying guard or a great 3 point shooter. Kids can not relate to 2 big men like Ayton and Bagley.

I posted another thread in the Break Room, but figured one here could also be beneficial.
My wife, son and I are going to be heading to Cooperstown next week for a mini-vacation. Anybody been there before? Any helpful suggestions or secrets to be aware of?
I am a baseball nut, and love the history of the game. My wife...not so much. So, I'm going to have to balance how much time we spend there. How long have you spent?
Any other shops/stores that are "musts" while we're there? Restaurants?
Thanks for any help!
Have fun and enjoy your trip. Let me know the do’s and dont’s when you get back. That is on my bucket list.

They developed a few that ended up in other places.
Gregorious, Grandal, Boxberger, Bruce, are all players that came through are system that are producing well now. Who else did we draft that has produced at an elite level? Trevor Hoffman??
-
I agree! I could argue that the organization can’t develop any talent. Since 1980 who are elite players that the organization drafted and developed? Eric Davis, Barry Larkin, Joey Votto, Adam Dunn. Is there anyone else ?
-
Congratulations Coach Nethery!
-
They are playing Duval and Schebler hoping they will produce and then they will trade them. The problem is even if they produce they will not bring more than one decent mid level prospect. That is no more than what they were when they were in minors.
-
Does Beth Hunt still coach this team?
Yes she does and she does a fabulous job. They have won the conference 5 years in a row I believe. They were finally able to get over the hump and beat NCC.

Greendevils headed to the Regional tournament! Great job girls.

Dale Murphy or Dave Kingman

Congratulations Coach Grammer.

Sad day in Anderson Co, the 8th Region, and the state of Kentucky. Top notch person and basketball coach. He will be missed!
