Heard about the new Lexington/Fayette school. Lexington would still have two districts, so not too much change.
I don't get Scott County. Why split? It's not like Hardin County, where you have different population bases (Elizabethtown for EHS and CHHS and some JHHS, Radcliff for JHHS/NHHS, Rineyville, Vine Grove, Cecilia, Upton, Sonora, Glendale).
Some folks in southern Hardin County (southern E'town, Cecilia, Glendale, Upton, Sonora) wanted to build a South Hardin High School. Hardin County Schools balked because it would take away from Central Hardin, which is built to hold more than 1,800 (and isn't near and won't be near 1,800 any time soon).
Scott County needs to take a page out of Washington County's book. Instead of splitting, just build a brand-new mega school which can house future growth.
South Warren decimated Greenwood (except for softball). Collins did the same to Shelby County. Thomas Nelson did the same to Nelson (in boys' hoops and bowling).
If you're going to build a school, why not just build a bigger one if you can afford it?
I really don't see why school systems don't think like churches or hospitals.
