You can sure tell the fathers who post on these Augusta games. I'm an avid reader, but omg, so biased!!!!
-
Robin Kelsch would be Player/Coach!
Marvelous Marvin Bradley?
-
Maysville High School
George Cooke
Bobby Hiles
Bobby Jones
Allen Smith
Fred Walker
Fats Tolle
Jerry Calvert
Cant pick out the best 5
I could name 8-10 more that would run close to these.:ylsuper: :thumb:
OOps. I meant to post this here. I'd put Cere Myrick on the list somewhere too.
-
Put one of the Myricks on there. Cere maybe?
-
Mercer will kick a lot of teams before this season is over. You have them severely underrated. Pulaski will be tough to beat when they jell. West Jess's coach will keep them from overachieving. Garrard is better than expected.
-
Who is your team? Never seen you worry about the Panthers before.
-
Bracken over St. Pat by 5. Augusta over Burgin by 12. Mason over whoever they play by a bunch!
-
How should AHS do against Burgin? Who knows anything about them? What is Bracken's next game?
-
Who does Augusta play next?
-
Would be a great Christmas tournament. Panther, why don't you organize it? Play it at AHS.

Is his family Catholic?
Good for him, regardless.

I know. The upper deck bleaches are made from Pendleton's old wooden bleachers. The former coach showed them to me one summer when I was visiting. I love the Augusta gym. I was told a different story on how the "new" gym came about though. Other neat places to see - Cloverport, the old Corbin gym, the old Lynn Camp arena, Maysville's old gym, and the Briar Patch, before it was renovated. Any old gym has a story to tell.
-
I've noticed a little pro-McCreary and anti-McCreary bias from both sides.
I pick Boyle, Lincoln, East Jessamine, McCreary, Somerset, and Mercer, from what I've read and heard so far.
-
I had a great friend who coached at Augusta and was Kirk's freshman coach. If I'm not mistaken, the aforementioned Kirk, Reed, and Smith all wound up playing college athletics, no matter the school size.
-
Yes I am the one from Maysville. Hopefully there are not two of us. :scared:
Thank you for your kind words coachi. And cut out that sir stuff.
My son plays for an old buddy of yours who used to coach in the 10th Region, and calls all his associates "coachie". Thus, my moniker, except I left of the last "e". I have heard about your on-air abilities from him.

I think the 8th, 10th, and 12th have the best TEAM play in the state, with the 1st and 16th not far behind. I think the most TALENT is in the Hopkinsville, Bowling Green, Louisville. and Lexington areas (2nd, 4th, 6-7th, 11th). I think the 3rd is an enigma, with Central City and Owensboro once having a tremendous amount of talent, and now becoming more team oriented. The 5th Region is the most competitive top to bottom a lot of years, while the difference in the 13th-15th regions between their top teams and bottom teams are huge. I don't know what to think about the 9th. They are all moving in different directions with Brossert, SG, Campbell going to the 10th and with those others going to the 8th (I can't keep up).
This is just my opinion. Sorry if I left a region out, and by all means, feel free to disagree.

1. John Perkins - Formerly Pulaski, but moved to Indiana.
2. Aaron Watts - McCreary Central - freshman.
3. Keith Price - Not sure.
4. Spencer Perrin - Not sure.
5. Casey Dalton - Southwestern - senior.
6. Braxton Miller - Not sure.
7. Josh Bartley - McCreary Central - senior.
8. Zack Fain - Not sure.
9. John Cole - Not sure.
10. Justin Sanders - Not sure.
Price -Casey Co.
Perrin - ruled eligible at Boyle Co.
Miller - Lincoln Co.
Fain - one of the Jessamine's (West?)
Sanders is at East Jess maybe.
Cole sounds like a Somerset name.
If this is the Phillip Hay from Maysville area, you are one top-notch radio man, sir.

The rankings come from a poll from each region's coaches.
They don't come from the coaches. They come from the media.
-
Which district is Casey County in anymore? 45th? And with who?
-
It cracks me up the way people talk about coaches and their programs. Its like horse racing. You give a good jockey a bad horse, and he loses. You give a bad jockey a good horse, and he still finishes ok, but not at the top. Ahh, but you give a good jockey and good horse, and he wins. Thats about like high school basketball coaches. Unless they recruit, that is. Then they have chosen their poison. But no one in Kentucky recruits, right????????

10th Region
1. Brossart
2. Bracken County
3. Silver Grove
4. St. Patrick
5. Augusta
6. Paris
7. Deming
8. Nicholas County
I agree with this ranking, not that my opinion matters. Only change would be maybe Augusta over St. Pat as the season progresses. Bracken is better with Fite coaching than with Hammonds.

1. Darius Miller
2. Preston Knowles
3. Chase Dumphord
4. Tristan Jones
5. Troy Cooper
6. Julius Talbott
7. Kane Belcher
8. Russ Middleton

10. Chris Owens
Top Teams
1. Mason
2. GRC
3. Montgomery Co
4. Bishop Brossart
5. Harrison Co
6. Pendleton Co
7. Bourbon Co
8. Augusta

Anyone have the 8th and 12th Region players and teams? I have looked all over my section of town and can't find a copy of the Pause.:walk:

Fairness, smairness. You want Augusta to host it in a gym that holds about 600 people?
Augusta gym is to small, but they ought to have a right to decide where it goes and be able to work the tournament and prosper financially from it with concessions & so forth. Augusta can rent Mason's gym. At least it was fair and Augusta's call. Paris may want to rent Montgomery's gym. But its there call.
As one can see I'm a novice on the computer and need a lesson in cut & paste. Sorry bout that.
No one wants to rent someone else's gym. Thats like granny letting a stranger cook in her kitchen. Not going to happen!!:fight:

If the best team is the desire, then runner ups shouldn't be allowed to continue. I always felt the best team will deservedly win out, whether it be in the first round or the championship.
