Hurt was at PC, then Somerset boys, then PC girls again
-
I think there were better hires out there, but the economy and lack of teaching spots makes him very attractive to come back. Plus, his nephew is at Somerset and was their best JV player as a 7th grader. Bet Luid has him at PC before long now.
-
Breeze is going to Pulaski County to be the assistant coach to Al Gover.
-
They are hiring within at Paris.

I'm not so sure he was stalling as much as trying to get into something with Watts involved. Sometimes a team plays not to lose instead of to win, and that looked more like an impromptu stall, not a called one.
-
So did Boyle and Mercer.
-
Thacker is a much better coach than he ever received credit for at Somerset. He will do a great job at Rowan. I am not sure the Somerset situation will improve as much as people think/hope.

Didn't Burgin win 17 games? On the radio, it sounded like the little school was outmanned, but played hard. Why make it sound like West didnt show up?
The Mercer game sounded like a wild one, beginning to end. Mercer's seniors were freshman regional champs, and never got in the big region since the realignment and addition of the Jessamines.
-
Danville won't have Taylor from what I hear, making it easy for Garrard to advance to the region. I like West Jessamine and have all year. Poor Burgin has best record in 40 years and Mike fFeld's admiration and look at the prize they get in the first round -West! Add up the wins of all the teams in each district and look at how many more the 46th has with West, East, Mercer, and Burgin totaled up. If I was in the 12th, I would want in the Rock, PC, Somerset, and Casey district for sure this year.
-
5th region is tough, top to bottom.
-
Burgin does seem to have one of the best records for a 4 seed in the state, but I am sure because I know Donnie Irv, that story was done tongue-in-cheek.
-
For Danville, that is.

Is Taylor suspended as rumor says?

Great analysis. Lots of insight with no "homer-ism". I will throw my top ten in as of this moment) just for fun.
1. West - I agree with the jetlag over the East game.
2. Lincoln - Hot as a smoking pistol at tourney time.
3. Danville - soooooo much talent.
4. Garrard - rock solid. You have to beat them. They wont beat themselves.
5. Southwest - only seen them once, but their style is tourney proven.
6. McCreary - not as talented as many on here think, but very capable of winning the region AND is well-coached, no matter what you say.
7. East - tons of talent, but so inconsitant.
8. Wayne - well coached, and will play as well as they can in two weeks.
9. Mercer - young kids growing up and starting to jell with the new coach.
10a. Rockcastle - getting hot at right time.
10b. Burgin -what other 4 seed in a district has a veteran coach and13 wins?

KABC voting is by all the coaches in the school who have paid their dues, not just head coaches. Its like letting everyone with a coaches card in a school system vote. A staff of 20 people who belong to KABC can vastly outvote a school with 3 coaches who belong.
-
No rule. I have seen a senior playing for the first time play JV up until January.
-
I think you are forgetting West Jessamine's coach as well.
-
Cornbread.

I watched Watts play, and he seemed very uninspired, especially on the defensive end. If your best player doesnt always play hard, you are in trouble. If the coach benches him, I have no doubt they lose. Regardless of what you say, there are at least 4 or 5 more talented teams in the region, especially without Watts.
-
Which shows that the All-A does these teams absolutely no justice. Maybe an AA is what they need.
-
Simpson at South is retiring?
-
I dont think McCreary has as much overall "talent" as you seem to believe, but everyone has their own opinion.
-
According to the coaches show I listened to this morning, West missed only 7 shots the first half. Or at least that is what I thought they said over all the static on my radio.
-
I listened to the game. I have seen both teams before as well. Danville is one of the top 5 teams in that region, as far as I am concerned. And Burgin isn't overrated. They are not bad, just not much depth. Guards are tough, not skilled in comparison to Danville's. Both teams know what they are doing.
Pulaski County new coach is Al Gover

Makes Monticello's runs over the years look even more impressive due to small numbers. And didn't Burgin have a great year? I didnt realize each of those schools were that tiny.
