Thanks for the updates!

Like it is every year. I look forward to seeing how it plays out in 2014. Who do you predict winning it all this year?Like it was in the finals last year. -
Well once again Highlands is God because they beat CC. Only ones who thought CC was #2 is the N. KY group. I not sure they are top 6. Bunch of interesting scores in 4A last night. Boyle still #1 in my book. Owensboro 2 HHS 3.
Well, the cool thing about high school football is that this debate will be settled on the field.
-
Sounds like things are really coming together for HHS.
-
Congrats to Highlands, and congrats to Coach Weinrich in his first game against CovCath as head coach! Go 'Birds!
-
Is there a running clock?
-
what happened?Well that's a first for me in 35 years of watching football. -
Whose ball?
-
Go 'Birds! Beat Colonels!
-
which coach did not attend?I love when the school honors their history. Today was a fun day with the school honoring the '57 team, which they termed the team that launched the modern era of Highlands football success. Also every former Highlands coach since 54 was in attendance, except one (you can probably guess which one). Great day celebrating. -
So, was there no HHS JV game today?
-
Any word on the HHS - GRC JV game this morning?
-
Nope... all are illegitimate.Does the team have a legitimate running back for this year? -
How will CC fare against Highlands this season?
-
Can someone who is "in the know" take a look at this HHS coaching list and tell me if anything is incorrect:
Head Coach:
Mr. Brian Weinrich
Assistant Coaches:
Mr. Nick Behymer - Linebackers Coach
Mr. Dan Court - Freshman Assistant Coach
Mr. Zach Deaton - Wide Receivers Coach
Mr. Jim Dierig - Freshman Assistant Coach
Mr. Mark Dill - Defensive Line Coach
Mr. Brady Dowling - Freshman Head Coach
Mr. Billy Evans - Freshman Defensive Coordinator
Mr. Wayne Hall - All-Purpose Assistant Coach
Mr. Shelby Jones - Defensive Coordinator
Mr. Ryan Leopold - Defensive Backs Coach
Mr. Jason Lynch - Running Backs Coach
Mr. Matt Reed - Freshman Assistant Coach
Mr. Scott Turner - Offensive Line Coach
Mr. Michael Waite - All-Purpose Assistant Coach
Mr. Ron Welch - All-Purpose Assistant Coach

I'd give it to him now and in 10 years. He's not going to forget how to be a successful coach.
Well, I know that some of the HHS faithful who were at WKU felt that HHS was out prepared and outcoached in the title game last year...
PP... Do you agree with endzone that it is beyond debate which program has the advantage in coaching this year?
-
Is it 100% passing in these competitions! or are there running plays? Are running backs even in the backfield (to catch passes)?
What other receivers (besides Venneman) stood out for HHS?
-
So if Dale comes back to HHS in 10 years you're not going to give him the coaching advantage over everyone on the schedule?
Would you give him the coaching advantage over Collins' head coach right now?
-
The only HHS coaching advantage I can identify at this time is that Weinrich has had more opportunity to work with the current players... Nothing more and nothing less. My initial response in this thread was to someone's comment that it was beyond debate that Boyle County possesses an advantage over HHS in coaching. With Smith being 9 or 10 years removed from BC and with this being Weinrich's first head coaching stint, I don't see how anyone could give a clear advantage to either coach at this time.Ok, I have to ask this question. We all know Higlands fans will have excuses if Highlands doesn't with it all this year, but after reading about all the advantages Higlands new coach has over one of the greats in Chuck Smith then we can at least agree that if Highlands loses then it can't be because of their new coach right? -
I agree... That is why I don't think someone can give a clear cut advantage to Boyle County (or Highlands) in the coaching department heading into this season. No more foolhardy than Highlands fans expecting to be as good as they were with Dale.......... -
If this kid were to try to go back to Boone County in order to be able to play football, by when would he need to do this?
-
It's interesting you mention that, because I know that several Highlands supporters blamed that HHS loss (rightly or wrongly) on the HHS coaching staff.
-
As a Cov Cath fan, I am biased, but the greatest comeback I ever saw was the 1997 Mud Bowl in Ft. Thomas. Highlands had completely dominated the first half. before going to their locker room at halftime. CCH went to the North endzone in the pouring rain.
Highlands returned to the field in fresh, clean, dry uniforms to start the 3rd quarter and proceeded to try to score 100 points. In the process, they allowed the Colonels from Covington Catholic to steal victory.
Greatest comeback. That's the greatest I ever saw.
The way this game is perceived is very fascinating to me. It seems to me that every HHS fan who was at the game thought that it was a monumental upset, whereas all the CCH fans felt the Colonels had the better team.

What position does Deaton coach? Is Behymer still on the staff? If so, what position does he coach?
