Congrats to SK. I think it's been awhile since the HHS frosh have been shut out. Hopefully the Birds bounce back next week.

It is great news for NKY if SK raises the level of its football program. The upcoming game against Conner is going to be a good measuring stick for this year's varsity squad.

FWIW, Highlands is currently 21st nationally in the High School Football America Top 25.

If a team was caught stealing calls or taping scrimmages, what would the KHSAA penalty look like?

It sounds like Miami is really bad. With that being said, if UK manages to lose will we start to hear calls for Stoops to get the ax? I am not asking whether he should get fired... what I am asking is whether some people will start suggesting this.

Same exact thing happened in last years Highlands/ CCH playoff game. Tons of headset trouble.

Highlands would have won anyway- but it is interesting to hear that other teams have had trouble there.

I'm confused... doesn't each team use their own set of equipment, including headsets? How would a team be able to cause another team's headsets to malfunction, unless they were supplying the headsets to their opponent?

You listen to what Lorenzen says enough and the fact that Towels is not even considering transferring, playing or not, you can figure it out.

Most days I am stuck doing administrative mumbo jumbo and listening to people whine and make threats in email. I worked two shifts yesterday so I have some free time today.

I am very happy BG is getting the national attention they are. It is great to see KY programs get noticed at a regional or national level.

In reality, is the award really based on just the senior season? I had heard that it is common for the voters to consider the entire high school football career when determining the winner.

The guy who does the RivalsHigh 100 mentioned that he and his staff put a good amount of weight on scrimmages. I'd say a 4-TD loss to a Trinity team that then loses its first regular season game at home did more to damage HHS on the national scene than a 40-point HHS victory against a FL school.

That Johnny Moxon kid from West Canaan, Texas was probably better than both of them, plus he ended up getting an academic scholarship to an Ivy League school.

What would MaxPreps get out of ranking a KY team highly? I don't think western Kentucky is a big-time national market by any means.

Seriously? Until UC got tired they pretty much owned the Birds. If anything that performance hurts the mystique.

I disagree about the UC game hurting the Highlands mystique. The reason HHS has not been getting much national poll consideration since 2009 despite having some very good teams by Highlands' standards is because of the spanking they take from Trinity in scrimmages that are basically treated as real games by the people doing the national polls.

 

Those T scrimmages may help HHS prepare for the season, but they pretty much guarantee the Bluebirds will be locked out of national rankings contention.

How many games did Collinsworth actually miss his senior year? I thought it was just a couple games.
