  1. Ballard didnt have a game scheduled for this week. They have two days out of school and the time will be used to rest the kids and work on some thing the latter part of the week. They had J-Town , North College Hill and Male in less than a weeks time last week. Scheduling some downtime sounds like a good idea to me.

Ummm, yes they did. They were supposed to play Iroquois this week as part of a girl/boy doubleheader. The girls game is still on but the boys is off. Had Ballard lost in LIT semifinals they would have been ok! It's one of those deals where you have to almost take a chance and schedule the extra game. Always easier getting out of a game than adding one after the fact!

  2. Good effort but it just goes to show you how difficult these All-State teams are to pick - and this year especially!

On a side note, the central player that should have been on the list was Tim Huguley. Ask Pulaski Southwestern if he was any good! Joe Scott wasn't even among the top five on his team. And that's not a knock on the kid, he just didn't have a great season and the coach has even said so.

  3. This whole thing just must be a popurlarity contest because Josh Wills senior linebacker from Russell deserved better than Honorable Mention... He was the heart and soul of a defense that held the 5A 2A state champions Mercer County to only 15 points... I am not quite sure how many tackles he had but it has to be somewhere up by the 100s... this kid is a better play than that should been at least 3rd team maybe 2nd

I was impressed with this kid in the state final. I think he was 56 right? I thought he was really good on offense line also!

  4. I knew this to be true but was hesitant to post because I did not want it to be misconstrued as trying to stir something up. Out of nothing more than curiosity I am interested what do "in the know" fans such as yourself attribute to this fact? One of my closest friends had a son who transferred in to Trinity a couple of years ago and ended up quitting football altogether (which I felt was a huge mistake) and I have wondered if missing the first 2 years of learning the Trinity scheme has such a big effect or it is a case by case basis dependent upon the individual and their own attitude/abilities. If it is being behind in the "scheme" it seems that it would deter potential transfer-ins. It is not like the Rocks are searching for spare parts to fix something that isn't broke. Like I said, just curious.

I don't know football as well as some on here think they do  but I would assume after watching several Trinity games each of the past few years that it woul dbe VERY hard to transfer in and learn the system on offense. It's amazing to watch. They must have 25 plays off each formation. But I dunno what do some faithful Rockwatchers think?

  5. All State just totally skips over 2AA football

How Do running backs like Kasey Clark, Justin Collins, Ronnie Dardin and Justin Collins not even get a vote.

and Vic Anderson makes and he played about 8 games this year and didnt even rush for 1000 yards?

I'am from lou Western and we had two backs(Collins and Dardin) go for 1900 a piece, and the QB rushed for 1000. That must mean the backs are the best in the state, or our lineman deserved to get some votes.

KHSAA football was a joke this year.....for messing up the playoffs, to playing the title games during the week, to giving Doug the Mr. Football title over Nick, when he threw 300+yards on Doug and 4 tds, on the way to the state title which Nick won.

Kasey Clark made it on defense. You can only make it on one position from what I was told on the AP team,

  6. Congrats to Doug!

    Good luck as a Cardinal.

I am surprised by how close the voting was, only three votes between first and second. I just assumed Doug would win but again glad he did.

Also, a bit surprised no votes for Victor Anderson. I would have thought he would have been right there in the mix.

  7. Yes, and rememebr those are "announced" figures.

If there were 10,000 fans at the 4-A game then I'm going to be Britney Spears' new beau! And that's not happening.

Seriously, the 4-A game is the draw and when only about 6,000 fans show up (yes, rain hurt a lot) then it's going to be a bad year.

Imagine the money the KHSAA lost this weekend!

  8. OK, honestly like I said last night as a coach I would never leave a situation like Bob Beatty is in right now. I know there's pressure but wow he has a lot of talent coming back each season - especially in 2007!

But I heard it all day at the finals that he was finished. Two Louisville TV stations tonight speculated more that he was leaving, one radio station today said he was a candidate for a college job and one Rock fan told me tonight he had heard rumblings that a move was coming early next week.

The C-J says he's "weighing his options" (http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061201/SPORTS05/61201059) but he sure doesn't sound as convincing as I figured he would a day after. He says if he were a betting man that "yeah" he would be back but then goes on to talk about having the energy to do the job.

So true Rock fans what gives? Wouldn't the powers-to-be at the school try and sweeten the deal to keep him. I am sure coach Petrino can pitch in a few extra coins after he gets his BCS bonus tomorrow!

  9. ^ If he leaves, it may not be for another destination..he is not in need of $$$$....he may want to get that vacation he deserves.

Well, that's a different story. Coaching can wear on you these days, especially at a pressure-packed situation like that. Any idea how old (or young) coach Beatty is? I still think he would be silly not to come back with all the talent in the fold
