I also think it's funny that Sexton's own kids, while residing in Eastern's ditrict, attended Male. I guess when it comes to his own kids, they don't belong to Eastern High School like the other kids in the district.
I love this.....
I grew up in "Ballard's" district, and now reside in Eastern's....I promise one thing, my daughter WILL NEVER ATTEND EASTERN HIGH SCHOOL, not while I am still kicking and screaming. When will people realize that because parents live in such and such neighborhood, that doesn't mean that such and such high school, OWNS YOU? That is a truly archaic mind set, IMO....And apparently Sexton turly thinks so, with at least his own children

KHSAA once again worried about the all mighty dollar.
Or the fact that we live in AMERICA and should be allowed to live free.
-
We have more stars, but you have all the players. Many 4A schools have trouble fielding scout teams, Trinity and St.X have trouble deciding who will dress. It is a huge factor, you have to admit.
Absolutely...but the majority of our kids have known they were coming to us, since birth. That is an EARNED advantage, IMO..
-
But a lot of schools have that.
How many, one county removed from a big city, and with a huge plant.
Bullitt has 4-5 high schools, Oldham - 3, Spencer - 2, I think....
Scott is on the HIGHER $$$$ side of Lexington, has Toyota, etc.....They have it nice..
-
^ it may not, but Manual has a distinct advantage ACADEMICALLY over every other school, does that seem just as fair. It's not exactly apples to apples, but it is within striking range.
-
However, Scott County unlike Male and Manual does have a defined district.
Yeah, the whole county.
-
Which leads credence to the public schools arguement that the privates are getting all the talent in Louisville.
But that is not true. Doug Beaumont is the most talented kid in Louisville, IMO, I think it to be fact that year in and year out, Manual, Male, and Ballard have more talented kids than we have.
-
Manual stands to benifit from this stance verses the alternative.
They also stand to lose as well. They will lose revenue from playing Trinity and X, they will lose most of their really good competition, losing skill, etc....
-
Ok that clears that up for me I had no clue who that person was, is he coming to Manual? The fact that a kid transfers doesn't bother me, it is some stuff I can't talk about on here connected to that burns me. Your pm was not the hate one.
There are things that we all know taht irritate us about our programs and others. Believe me, Trinity/Manual is a two way street. Trust me!
-
I went to middle school with Tony Brabrowsky. What is your point?
Tony Bobrowski then went to Trinity.
-
It works against Manuals interest to support the private schools maintianing the status quo, they would be idiots to support that, they are going to do what is right for them. Not necessarily what I think it right for the game or the sport or the state of Athletics in Kentucky, but it is what is in their interest.
I might buy some of your argument, but lose ground with this sense, how can winning a "dilluted" championship be "what's best for the program"? Seriously, you as a mature level headed man, can not say that you would be happy winning a title without us and X involved. Like it or not, you are good for us, and we are good for you.
-
I guarantee he would not care whether they still play them or they don't because either way he is going to contend for a state championship each and every year because he is a great coach.
Not for nothing, but Male is the weakest of the Big III, and they don;t CONTEND for a championship every year.

In all honesty, this proposal has very little to do with football. It has much more to do with girls sports and secondary sports. I get the feeling the football supporters on this board feel like it is all about football when in reality it has very little to do with football.
Then make us (football) exempt....or better yet.
KICK US OUT

Kentucky High School Volleyball Coaches' poll
Volleyball
1. Assumption
2. Mercy
3. Sacred Heart
4. Notre Dame
5. St. Henry
6. Presentation
7. Lou. Holy Cross
8. Ryle Is this a public school
9. Butler
10. Beechwood
Not for nothing, but if you think about it. Girls play volleyball in Catholic Grade School, most of the whole time. Public Schools really don't do that.

Trinity builds $3.3 million dollar football stadium, with Goverment money. Opps sorry , no goverment money they used private funds.
I don't know if I am inferring the correct emotion in your reference, can you please advise.
-
The Male thing is the most confusing.
Is a Male state title without X and T worth anything? I guess to whoever from Male is voting on this that it is.
I realize this is a narrow football only view of the situation.
That's my big question. Imagine college football, this season, with no USC, Texas, or Ohio State (just picked the other 2). Would you feel good about yourself, knowing you didn't beat the best?
-
I don't think it is fair when some schools can recurit kids (private) and other schools (public) have to play only the kids in their school district. Does that really sound fair to you?
Yes, because each individual school district makes their own rules for who attends that school.
-
The other part of his proposal limits financial aid to 75 percent. I don't think that this has much practical significance, but it is wrong. If you can limit it to 75 percent you can also limit it to 10 percent or 1 percent.
We only go to half, so that doesn't worry me.
-
Ok, I read that, all you are saying is that a change took place, what change was it?
Louisville was one side of the bracket, the state the other.....People in the state complained because it guranteed a Louisville team in the finals. So it got changed.
-
Because they are the two best. You all had it the other way, and changed it. You know with this scenario, you can actually have no Louisville school in the finals. Have you thought of that?
-
The state had it the other way and changed it because it guranteed a Louisville team in the finals....It sounds like you just want to kick Louisville out....
-
Don't forget that Warren Central and Trinity have played each other twice in the Finals as well.
-
Well, I keep hearing all this educational talk which is a fine wall to hide behind, nobody wants to beat on educational opportunities, that is why we have school right? It just seems awfully funny to me that Louisville is the center of the football world. In 2003 you have Trinity vs. St. X, which tells me that Louisville is considered the center of the state to the KHSAA and thus 4A that year revolved around Louisville. You also have the state game in Louisville, humm, why not have it somewhere else year to year, like Western KY univ? IMO it is just some people wanting to own football in Louisville.
To the KHSAA, X and Trinity, in the finals, probably is the end all. As the revenue they generate is enormous. Besides they are an ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, while these are students, athletics is what they regulate...
