  1. Shelby County came from under the radar to win the 1987 AAAA title. Big surprise.

Danville winning the AAA title in 1984 (knocked off top ranked CovCath in first round.)

Highlands winning the 1992 AAA title (CovCath was getting national rec., had beaten Moeller, and cruised past the Birds in the regular season meeting).

Conner in 1983. Didn't they kind of sneak up on people?

  2. Clark beat Boone, Trinity, and St. X back to back to back. That was during a really strong run of teams for Boone. I think it was the first time Clark had beaten Boone. Trinity and X were Trinity and X. That was an amazing run.

Correct on all counts, but this wasn't an unexpected title run. The Cardinals were unreal good that season and ranked right at the top of AAAA all season long. I think they finished in the USA Today top 25. :thumb:

  3. OK, I did a little research for those that can't seem to comprehend English.

Out of a total of 12 predictions, 10 have come by "NON HHS Faithful."

Out of those 12 predictions, 6 people have predicted what can be considered a blow out.

1 of those is a so called "HHS Faithful."

Out of those 12, 3 have predicted an "upset" by Franklin Co.

In closing, the "HHS Faithful" are well aware that their boys need to play a good football game to beat Franklin Co. We get it, we understand and we know.

How do you know who everyone predicting an outcome is? Who's your so called HHS faithful? I made a prediction, what am I?

  4. LOL, These are people who are "in" at Moeller, trust me. As well as being parents of some players and very big boosters at Moe. Now, will they apply as much pressure as they did to get rid of Klonne? That remains to be seen. :thumb:

Now, back to the topic. :D

My post remains solid. I don't much care who is "in" at any school, nor do I choose to listen much to them. Keep listening to the "in" people if you choose. That's your call. :D

  5. Some start and some don't. Some get on the field a lot and some rarely get on the field.

However, those that don't play much at all are just as valuable and important to the team as those that do in my opinion. Maybe even more valuable.

You don't have to be a starter or even get on the field to be a leader of a team. Leaders in my opinion are the ones that set the example; that the others look to when times are tough; they are the ones that are the most respected by the coaches, fans and other players.

Its easy to play football at Highlands when you are the star athlete, when you start as an underclassman. But the real people that I respect a lot are the seniors that have busted their tails for 4 years but get little or no playing time; yet they hang in there. That's real leadership to me. Not the jumping up and down before the game; not the "cheerleading" after a big hit or big run. Its the sheer will and dedication that is needed to make it through long days of triple sessions; the sacrifices on Saturday mornings; the gassers and the lost job opportunities knowing along that you'll not probably see the field on Friday night. To me its these kids are the ones that show real leadership.

Sure they'd like to play more, their egos get bruised when some underclassman takes their spot. But rather than quit or cause problems, they suck it up and continue to come to practice and try to the best of their abilities. These are the kids that lead by example, that personify the "no I in team"; and that want desperately for the team to win state and if the coach thinks the chances of that happening are better with the underclassmen starting in front of them, they are able to put their disappointment aside to best support the team.

These are the kids that provide the leadership needed on a young team. When the underclassmen get tired, they need only look at that senior who's at practice busting his tail knowing that he'll be lucky to get into the game on Friday night to find their inspiration to run that last gasser, to look at the scouting report one more time before going to sleep.

We do have a fair number of seniors that unfortunately for them were not blessed with the athletic talent that the good Lord gave some of the underclassmen; but they were given the qualities of persistance, dedication, committment and loyalty to team that make them the best of leaders in my eyes and will make them leaders throughout their lives. And for that, I say thank you.

Good try. But, there's zero way the households of the seniors who aren't playing are happy.

  6. LOL, Look over on Yappi, a lot at Moeller want Crable gone, they want the school to do the same thing they did to Klonne (which happened with the alumni's help), and I think Klonne was a much better coach that Crable.

People over at Moeller told me Crable told his wife he only wanted to be a head coach for 10 years, this ended year number 5, and the people I know who are "in" at Moeller want him gone before year number 6. I can't repeat, at least on this board, what the replies were Sunday when I asked them about their views on Crable.

As they say, be very careful of what you asked for (The removal of Klonne), you may get what you want, and may be sorry you got it (Crable).

As you say, don't be mad at the messenger. :D

Hey, I just posted some game times for Saturday, acting as a messenger.

Like I said, you hear a lot of stuff, and apparantely ask about a lot of stuff (like what people who don't know any better think of Crable). If you want to take what they say to heart, it's on you.

  7. They have regressed since the beginning of the year IMO. They are still good, just not as good as I expected them to be.

I have to agree here. Or maybe I was too fast to jump on the Rodenberg bandwagon. His team sure has strung together an awful lot of performances that were very similar to CCH in the last four years. Those performances had people jeering Lynn Ray night and day, and he won five state titles at the school.

Maybe it's time for the honeymoon to end for Rodenberg.
