  1. Team #7 is Louisville Trinity! 30. Central 29. Raceland 28. Logan County 27. Lexington Catholic 26. Belfry 25. Pulaski County 24. PRP 23. Bowling Green 22. Ryle 21. Southwestern 20. Bryan Station 19. Paducah Tilghman 18. Mayfield 17. Corbin 16. CAL 15. DuPont Manual 14. Franklin County 13. Pikeville 12. Madison Central 11. South Warren 10. Woodford County 9. Johnson Central 8. Owensboro 7. Trinity https://www.premierhighschoolsports.com/post/howell-rankings-countdown-ky-high-school-football-team-7-trinity Last year I know half the people I heard from said I shouldn't have them ranked at all when they were 0-6 and squeaked by Ballard midway through the regular season and the other half thought I had them too low in the preseason at #5.
  2. Yes Ryle was a good team last year and will be even better this year. Trinity lost a lot on offense but I assume they will have an improved defense. When is the last time Trinity didn't have a top 15 player in the state (according to Rivals.com)? They don't have one this year, according to Rivals.
  3. And neither Ballard nor Ryle finished in the top 25 last season.
  4. They did get it rolling in the playoffs and beat Ballard bad, but in the regular season Ballard had them beat and Trinity escaped 20-17. Manual destroyed Ballard just 2 weeks earlier. In the playoffs Manual lost to St X by only 2 points, while Male beat T pretty bad in the playoffs and then X beat Male in the finals. Madison Central also played St X well in playoffs and led late before running out of gas (did not have the depth X had). Point being Trinity may have been slightly better than teams like Manual (and Madison Central) last year but barely.
  5. Your statement that they beat every Kentucky team (on their schedule) not named St X or Male last year is correct, but how many top 25 teams in KY did they beat? https://www.on3.com/teams/kentucky-wildcats/news/kentucky-high-school-football-rankings-final-2021-season/
  6. Team #8 is Owensboro! Is OHS too high, too low or about right? 30. Central 29. Raceland 28. Logan County 27. Lexington Catholic 26. Belfry 25. Pulaski County 24. PRP 23. Bowling Green 22. Woodford County 9. Johnson Central 8. Owensboro https://www.premierhighschoolsports.com/post/howell-rankings-countdown-ky-high-school-football-team-8-owensboro
  7. The real question is where to rank Trinity. Finished 9 in last year's final rankings and lost a ton of production. QB, top RBs, top WRs all gone. Where do y'all think Trinity should be?
  8. Team #9 is Johnson Central! What do you think about JC's ranking? Too high, too low or about right? 30. Central 29. Raceland 28. Logan County 27. Lexington Catholic 26. Belfry 25. Pulaski County 24. PRP 23. Bowling Green 22. Ryle 21. Southwestern 20. Bryan Station 19. Paducah Tilghman 18. Mayfield 17. Corbin 16. CAL 15. DuPont Manual 14. Franklin County 13. Pikeville 12. 9. Yes, I like that interview too. Here's another one from Coach Dennis Johnson last year about his team and playing days https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/premier-high/woodford-county-coach-former-cAd3YVGmU8L/
  10. Team #10 is Woodford County! 30. Central 29. Raceland 28. Logan County 27. Lexington Catholic 26. Belfry 25. Pulaski County 24. PRP 23. Bowling Green 22. Ryle 21. Southwestern 20. Bryan Station 19. Paducah Tilghman 18. Mayfield 17. Corbin 16. CAL 15. DuPont Manual 14. Franklin County 13. Pikeville 12. Madison Central 11. South Warren 10. Woodford County 2021 Record: 13-1 2021 Playoffs: Lost to South Warren 46-25 in 5A Semifinals 2021 Final Ranking: #14 Players to Watch: OG Tristan Cook (SR), DB Aden Nelson (SR), RB Preston Stacy (SR), WR Makhi Smith (SO) Key Losses: QB Bryce Patterson, RB/LB Jackson Geilear Game to Watch: September 16 at Franklin County Coach Dennis Johnson has transformed the culture at Woodford County from a losing one to a winning one. In 2017 Woodford County was winless, in 2018 Woodford County finished 2-9 and lost to Covington Catholic 49-0 in the playoffs. After steadily improving they burst onto the scene last season with a regular season win over Franklin County and a quarterfinal win over Covington Catholic before being humbled by state champ South Warren. The Yellow Jackets return six starters back on offense and seven on defense. WR/DB Aden Nelson (9 REC TDs) has committed to Ball State and fellow WR Makhi Smith (8 REC TDs) has multiple offers. Tristian Cook is one of the top linemen in the bluegrass and Preston Stacy (157 carries for 1,400 yards and 13 TDs)looks to have another big year rushing the ball. Possible QBs are sophomores Jasper Johnson and Andrew Nason as Bryce Patterson graduated. https://twitter.com/teeroyhowell/status/1444086409523048449?s=20&t=2lOq5sVjc9MY_rfwHCVCgw https://twitter.com/teeroyhowell/status/1461891050377814018?s=20&t=b2zHtxd9RXu4QNEZ-XU9Vg Check back tomorrow for #9!
  11. Apparently last year I was only #30 when it came to best preseason polls in KY. Hopefully this year I can past Sister Mary Anna and move up into the 20s.
  12. Raceland would be the most likely to beat them IMO, if anyone can.
  13. I assume most people can guess the top ten.
  14. Number 11 is South Warren! https://www.premierhighschoolsports.com/post/howell-rankings-countdown-ky-high-school-football-team-11-south-warren
  15. Team #12 is Madison Central! 30. Central 29. Raceland 28. Logan County 27. Lexington Catholic 26. Belfry 25. Pulaski County 24. PRP 23. Bowling Green 22. Ryle 21. Southwestern 20. Bryan Station 19. Paducah Tilghman 18. Mayfield 17. Corbin 16. CAL 15. DuPont Manual 14. Franklin County 13. Pikeville 12. Madison Central 2021 Record: 12-1 2021 Playoffs: Lost to St. Xavier in 6A Semifinals 2021 Final Ranking: #13 Players to Watch: OT/DT Malachi Wood (SR) (Kentucky), RB Brady Hensley (JR) Key Losses: FB/DL Kyran Jackson Game to Watch: October 21 at Bryan Station After going 1-8 in 2020, the Indians posted a stellar 10-4 record in Coach Mike Holcomb's first year. They led 6A state champ St. Xavier in the semifinals, before the Tigers rallied to win 31-21. Brady Hensley (225 carries for 1,804 yards) who rushed for 31 scores as a sophomore last season will run behind UK o-line commit Malachi Wood again this year. Quarterback Hagan Harrison is currently out with an injury so expect another heavy rushing attack from the Indians again this year. Check back tomorrow for #11!
  16. Yes they are a very good program, solid every year.
  17. No surprises in the top 12, all were good last year. Feel free to guess who the teams.
  18. Yeah that did make a defense. Losing your defensive leader early on in a playoff game is tough to overcome.
  19. You are correct that it is tough to get all the teams ranked right. I’m sure I will miss on at least 1 or 2. Last year it was St. X that I missed on!
  20. Team #13 is Pikeville! 30. Central 29. Raceland 28. Logan County 27. Lexington Catholic 26. Belfry 25. Pulaski County 24. PRP 23. Bowling Green 22. Ryle 21. Southwestern 20. Bryan Station 19. Paducah Tilghman 18. Mayfield 17. Corbin 16. CAL 15. DuPont Manual 14. Franklin County 13. Pikeville 2021 Record: 14-2 2021 Playoffs: Defeated Russellville 30-27 in A Finals 2021 Final Ranking: #10 Players to Watch: RB Blake Birchfield (SR), DT Luke Ray (SR) , WR Wade Hensley (SR), LB Devin Derrosett (SR) Key Losses: QB Isaac McNamee (Murray State), WR Zac Lockhart, OL/DL Landon Hammock Game to Watch: September 23 vs LCA After leading the Panthers to state titles in 2019 and 2021, quarterback Isaac McNamee has moved on to Murray State but RB Blake Birchfield (290 carries for 2,512 yards and 25 TDS) returns. He will run behind and offensive line that returns starters Rico Perez, Peyton Sayers, and Mason Sayers. Senior linebacker Devin Derrosett made several key plays in last year's state title win over Russellville. Look for the Panthers to be favored to win Class A for the 3rd time in 4 years, though the east will be loaded with the likes of Raceland, Paintsville, and Hazard. https://twitter.com/teeroyhowell/status/1466851980115165184?s=20&t=9oIObRX7Sxpe7Nf72IWCew https://twitter.com/teeroyhowell/status/1441554742702968834?s=20&t=9oIObRX7Sxpe7Nf72IWCew Check back tomorrow for #12!
