Given that Brad Stevens is 99.9% not coming to IU and Pitino is about 85% not coming, who are other possibilities IU is considering/talking to?

I'm not saying any of that. You're the one who said that he didn't earn his playing time when he was in the game. Your claim, your burden of proof. Knowing that the kid can score the ball, his lack of playing time was a constant question within my circle, and other fan circles. When given the ball, he produced.
He got more minutes for a handful of games after that MS regular season game, and adequately produced to some degree, and then for about the last 10 games it's been crickets with his playing time. Makes no sense.
Clip after the Jan 2nd MS game.
Allen's inconsistent shooting was part of his lack of playing time but his weakness on defense was the greatest reason for his lack of playing time. In numerous games, the opponent would purposely target Allen for an obvious reason, the man Allen was guarding would own him. So, unless Allen is scoring, he has to be taken out.

Bo Jackson might debate that being if not for an injury, most pretty much assume it was a given he would have been in the HOF in two of the three major sports. I don't know of anyone else who has accomplished that. Maybe Jim Thorpe?
Speaking of Jim Thorpe, he may also have a say as the greatest athlete of all time. He not only competed, but excelled, in professional baseball, football and boxing. Gold medaled in the Olympic decathalon also. The man literally was among the best in just about every athletic endeavor he attempted. Basketball may have come along too late for him, don't know.
Michael Phelps could also be brought up. On this very site, after Phelps took the lead for the most Gold Medals ever, many proclaimed him as the greatest athlete ever and I thought you were among those who agreed with this idea of Phelps being the best.
Lastly, you can't leave Michael out of the conversation. When everyone knows who you are just by your first name and your first name is a common as Jordan's is, that pretty much says you are among the best athletes ever.
Oops, I see where you meant team competitors so you can drop Phelps from the list and just leave Bo, Jim and Michael.

LeBron is the best athlete of all time. I'm not sure there's really a lot of debate to be had there.

What player could have replaced LeBron on his teams over the last 19 years and made his team as successful?
Jordan if he were the same age as Lebron?
I bring that up because last night I asked the question, who dominated their sport more, Jordan or Brady?

Watching UK basketball this season is a lot like watching UK football a decade or so ago.

I’m more of a football guy but OSU and Texas are both top 10 nationally right now. They only socially care about basketball at OSU.
Which is sad, both programs have put some better than decent quality basketball on the court for a decade or more to not be appreciated by the fan base. Even when UK football was an absolute turd, we still looked forward to the season and attended games. OK, true after blowout losses we consoled ourselves in Bourbon and thoughts of the upcoming basketball season, but dang it we still cared about football also.

Yep transfer from Michigan State! Things are shaping up well.
Do you know how many years of eligibility he has left?

Huge get today for the Cats. #2 ILB in the country and top 40 player in the country. He's the real deal.
Doesn't UK have another good LB from Michigan coming?

LSU is team turmoil right now. The Game is at K-Field I like KYs chances getting that W. They hopefully don’t have 1 of those games they should Win but lay an egg and don’t.
Unless Gatewood or Allen turn out to be a heck of alot better than most expect, an LSU team in turmoil will still beat UK by 10 or so.

Let's hear the losses Deuce?
I'm not Deuce but I agree with him. Here is my thoughts
For sure losses:
1. Florida
2. LSU
3. UGA
So starting there, 9 wins is the BEST UK can do. Some will say UK will beat LSU, I don't see it.
For sure wins:
1. Louisiana Monroe
2. UT Chattanooga
3. So Carolina
4. UT
5. Vandy
6. New Mexico State
So assuming UK doesn't have a football season similar to this basketball season (ie collapse), six wins is the worst UK can do.
Can go either way games:
1. Mizzou - being a home game UK SHOULD win but.........we are talking about UK
2. Miss State Univ - I give a small edge to MSU being in Starkville
3. UofL - being in Lexington, UK has the edge but this game is no way a sure win.
I would say it is highly unlikely UK will win all three or lose all three of Mizzou, MSU and UofL, they will win one or two of them. So, to me, a GREAT season is 9-3, a good season is 8-4, a so-so season is 7-5, a bad season is 6-6, anything less is UK looking like the UK of years past. Anything better than 9-3 is an insane season.

Easily could be 4 - 0 going into the Florida game.
But the three games after that are almost certainly losses.

Could he be headed to the other UT?
I don't think he would be near the top of the list but possibly further down if UT has the same trouble they had last time hiring a coach.

“Players first” but only when it’s 5 star players published on KSR just now. Ouch, I bet Cal cuts them off, then again, Matt sold KSR for big dollars. Maybe the new KSR owners aren’t taking corners?
Jones only sold the website. To the best of my knowledge, he is still the majority (or sole?) owner of KSR Radio.

So much for a nationwide search. Not sure I get this hire.
They may have done a nationwide search but I doubt there are too many coaches nationwide who's coaching was as impressive as his with the defense he built at Trinity.

Well Sutton was our Coach. Pitino Tubby even BG didn’t get torched at RUPP like CAL and these Cats did last night. Ridiculous.
I thought back in the early 90's Kansas destroyed UK in Rupp, by line 40 pts? Or was that not in Rupp?

I don't know if he would be interested or not, but any program that could get Chuck Smith should hire him. He may have more gas in the tank than people realize. And, he is a GREAT football coach. I've coached with him, learned from him, had to coach against him over the past 37 years. I am biased... he has been a great friend and helped me to be a much better coach and person.... but I do believe there is no one better.
Chuck Smith interviewed for the THS job back in 2000 when Beatty was hired. Pretty sure he was among the finalists.

If they make hire from out of state will be highly unlikely they will bring a staff with them. I doubt they hire someone locally but that would be a case of bringing some other coaches in. I think most likely current coaches will be retained.
Kevin Wright brought Coverdale with him from Noblesville IN, maybe the new coach will bring his key assistant or maybe two (OC? DC?) and retain the rest of the staff knowing he can hire his own guys down the road if the current assistants don't match his system.

I don't see Cal leaving but at the same time, Barnhart better not sweeten his contract even further to keep him. At a certain point you just have to say enough is enough. If he leaves, oh well.
