Mr. HEAD, As pointed out, Highlands has earned 16 titles. Sometimes they lose...but I suspect they will again win. Most of the folks I visited up there were savvy enough to recognize LC's speed, and, though surprised, appreciated (and cursed) the ability of LC's defense. Not to tear down your enthusiasm on a big win...let's worry about this week's game, and trying to get to Lexington Catholic's first state championship.

I did notice that the thread...."How about a little fun, Let the Whining Begin" got quiet real quick.

Here I was telling folks at Lexington Catholic all about the cannon...perhaps you could post that picture for them to prove I wasn't lying.

When we win a state championship, our coach is a wonderful human being. When we lose, he has no recognizable knowledge of offense.

I have not seen Micah Johnson play. I have watched Justin Burke play in many situations, and plenty of folks have reeled off the numbers he has put up this season, but last night should seal the deal for him as Mr. Football. The line score of 1 TD on 117 yards passing doesn't look impressive in the paper. The coaches had the game plan and Highlands had no answer for the much-maligned defense of LC, but the leadership and desire Burke displayed while obviously in pain had to lift his teammates on both sides of the ball one notch higher. You could almost feel the energy that there was no way Highlands would be allowed to score on that final possession.

And for any Notre Dame fans out there, did that last CovCath pass/LexCath interception give you deja vu flashbacks to the USC game? (I guess I should make that Notre Dame/Lexington Catholic fans)

Just a question for rules clarification. On the offensive pass interference call on 3rd down, Lexington Catholic was penalized 15 yards. The next play was called 4th down. No one on the field questioned it, and the next play was snapped. Was this a correct rules call? I heard the radio announcers felt this was wrong, that the LC coaches should have been raising cain with the officials, but after the next play was snapped, it was too late to question it. Does anyone know the official ruling on offensive pass interference in high school ball? Is the penalty down and distance? (I always thought it was only distance, or loss of down with the penalty being declined.)

For UNDERTHEBRIDGE and knightsdad, you sound like you listen too much to other prepsters talking about the so called LC playoff curse. This is a heck of a program that is all of 14 years old. Lexington Catholic did not have a football team in the 50's, the 60's, the 70's, the 80's. Yet in just 14 years these players have made the whole state stand up and take notice. Regional Championship losses to, let's see....Highlands, CovCath, Danville, Boyle. Last time I looked at the records, those were state champions. If the folks from those programs want to knock LC's record for not beating them, that's okay, they're looking over their shoulders at the Lexington Catholic. If the folks from other programs that don't make it to the Regional Championships want to knock LC, so what? It's time to tee it up tonight, and that's what counts. Go Knights. This is an ex-parent saying I love ya', and I sure as hell believe in you.
