Then you better hope you can fix it every time, because I know for a fact if you tamper with anything on the inside of the Xbox and you try to send it in to them for repair they'll send it right back to you and say sorry. So I hope it doesn't mess up anymore because if it does then you're hurting.

     

     

    Not worried about it needing fixing again, and if it did, I am used to opening stuff up and fixing it if needed. At the time MS was not being as generous on repairs and as I said his kids had already tampered with it. So for about 6 dollars in parts it was fixed and everyone is happy...

  2. FYI,

     

    My firends got the 3RROD a while back. He had it for over the warranty period and and his kids had attempted to open it, so I took a stab at it.

     

    It was a PITA but eventually I managed to fix it. The problem is just porr design and bad contact to the heatsink and the processor. I read several direction on the internet and took the heatsink off and made a new clamp that kept the motherboard flatter and the heat sink evenly on the processor. This was many months ago and as far as I know it was still working for him.
