I'm on board with all these. We went 3-7 my senior year (3rd place in the district) and won our first round playoff game by a comfortable margin over a softer sister district team. That being said, we shouldn't have made the playoffs. Sometimes you finish in the top 2 and sometimes you don't, that breeds competition and makes coaches work that much harder to try to out coach the other team. I'd rather see the old 4 class system but can get on board with 5 classes if the suggestions before are part of the deal.

Heck Cov Cath played a 0-10 team in the first round of the playoffs in 1993. I can’t remember the team they played.

I have never seen a Beechwood team get dominated like that! It still blows my mind that Danville had 500 yards rushing in that game.

It’s crazy how far the Ads have fallen! I remember after we beat Murray in the 1994 Class A state finals we watched a little of the Ads vs Bullitt East. It was men among boys in that game! 

As in the Ads ever coming to Ft Mitchell I have no clue but that is a good question. I’m sure someone who has been following Beechwood for a long time would know this answer.

Both Carrico boys are tough as nails - athletic, smart, fast.  The older can house it any time he touches the ball.  Or they can simply line up and let 230 lb. Atwell run you over.  He can also put the ball on a dime.  It's going to take a tough defense to slow them down.  They had LCA beat but ran out of time last year at the 1 foot line.  I don't think they are afraid of anyone.

That said, I'm sure they respect Mayfield, Beechwood and LCA very much, but it looks like they will only have to face 1 of them and that would be in the state finals.  If they are healthy, I don't think anyone else in 2A can hang (besides the other top 3).

As well they shouldn’t be afraid of them.

Because winning a state title isn’t easy no matter what side of the bracket you are on!

There is another surprising fact I noticed from your link. Beechwood has the third most championships with 14 but never had an undefeated season.

Beechwood has had 5 undefeated seasons!

I think LCA, Beechwood, Somerset, Danville, Mayfield, Walton-Verona, Owensboro Catholic, Metcalfe County, Murray and Shelby Valley contenders. Think Mayfield and LCA will be final 2 teams this year just on recent success and with Beechwood looking for a coach still and unsure who that will be at this time.

Beechwood will be be in the final four at least. I don’t think they will miss a beat whoever the new coach is.
