Not a ton of change in this week’s rankings. Lyon County handled their out of state opponents at the City of the Palms Classic. Henderson County went 2–1 at Lexington Christian Academy, dropping its first game of the season to Vestavia Hills, AL in their championship game of the Central Bank Classic. 2nd Region Week 3: Lyon County cruised through their week with 3 lopsided wins against a couple of district opponents and Floyd Central at historic Wayland Gymnasium. The Henderson County Colonels finished week 3 still undefeated after defeating UHA at home, Dawson Springs at the Panther Den, and Pike Central at the Bosse Winter Classic in Evansville, IN. Team Rankings Lyon County (6-1) - The high-scoring Lions will be tested this week at the City of the Palms Classic in Ft. Myers, FL. Travis Perry, KY’s new all-time leading scorer is averaging 29 ppg for Lyon County. Henderson County (5-0) - Henderson County will take its 5-0 record to Lexington Christian this week in the Central Bank Jim Rose Classic. The Colonels were led by Alec Satterfield’s 30-point performance over UHA on Tuesday. Cooper Davenport led the Colonels with 27 points in their road win over Dawsons Springs. UHA (4-2) - after falling to Henderson County on the road, the Blazers bounced back with a 90-70 victory at Madisonville. They will be at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas this week. The Blazers backcourt remains red hot as they have connected on 10 plus 3-point field goal attempts in each of their last 3 games. Christian County (3-3) - The Colonels dropped a home game to Bowling Green but bounced back with a district victory over Hopkinsville on Friday. Darrell Bateman continues to dominate for the Colonels after scoring 37 on Tuesday and 21 on Friday. The Colonels will be on the road at Ohio County tonight, then on to Marshall County for the FNB Holiday Classic. Webster County (6-1) - The Trojans had an impressive weak with wins over Calloway in the 2A tournament and Hopkinsville at home. The return of Deshaw Murphy has given Webster County a shot in the arm as they now have 4 starters averaging double figures. The Trojans will head to the Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic in Gatlinburg, TN this week. Hopkinsville (4-3) - After a solid win at Logan County, the Tigers dropped 2 in a row to Christian County and Webster County. Antonio Williams is averaging an eye-popping 25 points and 15 rebounds for Hopkinsville. The Tigers will be playing in Madisonville this week in the First United Bank Holiday Classic. Madisonville (2-4)The Maroons lost 3 in a row this week, first to UHA at home and then to Breathitt County and Perry County Central on the road. Kanyon Johnson leads the Maroons in scoring at 13 points per game. Madisonville will look to bounce back against West Creek out of Clarksville, TN this week as they how the First United Bank Holiday Classic. Dawson Springs (5-2) -The Panthers beat Union County at home on Monday, before falling to Henderson County on Friday. Rex Blue is leading the Panthers averaging almost 21 points per game. Dawson Springs will be at St. Mary’s this week in their Christmas Classic. Hopkins County Central (3-4) The storm only played one game this week, a 78-77 loss at Russellville. Hopkins Central has 4 starters averaging double figures and has a busy week ahead with a 2A tournament game against Union followed by a trip to Trigg County for the KME Classic. Union County (4-2) The Braves make an appearance in this week’s top 10 after rebounding from the Dawson Springs loss with a 20-point victory over Caldwell County on Thursday. The Rest of the Region: Caldwell County- (3-4) Trigg County- (2-4) Livingston Central (2-4) Crittenden County (0-6) Heritage Christian (4-3) Fort Campbell (2-3)

2nd Region Week 2: The headline of the week may come down to a coin toss between the #1 team in the region and a team sitting outside the top 10. Lyon County lost its first game of the year on the road to Father Tolton out of Columbia, MO in a game where they scored only 54 points. The Dawson Springs Panthers went 2-0 this week with a road win over Apollo and a district win over Hopkins County Central. They will not be outside the top 10 this week, however, as the Panthers have proven themselves a contender in the 7th district. Team Rankings Lyon County- Though they dropped their first game of the season, it was on the road to a high-quality out-of-state opponent. Lyon is still on top in Region 2. UHA- The Blazers dominated Murray at home and played McCracken to a two-possession game on the road. UHA looks like the real deal and their performance this week bumps them up a spot in the rankings. Henderson County- The Colonels are the only undefeated team in the region but have only played 2 games so far. Henderson County defeated Paducah Tilghman on the road this week however their light resume caused them to drop a spot in the rankings. They can solidify the second spot in the region on Tuesday however as they play UHA at home. Hopkinsville The Tigers dropped a home game to McCracken and then rebounded with a big win over Caldwell. They hold on to the 4 spot. No doubt the young Tigers are a legit contender in the 8th. Madisonville The Maroons make the biggest jump in the rankings this week after getting a home win over region opponent Christian County and a convincing 39-point win over John Hardin. Christian County Christian finished up the week with solid wins over Paducah Tilghman and Rowan County. However, they dropped a spot in the rankings this week as they lost to region opponent Madisonville. Webster County Webster County lost their first game of the season to South Warren. Though 4-1, the Trojans don’t have any strong wins on their resume. That could change this week as they face Calloway County in the 2A tournament. Dawson Springs The Panthers jump into the top 10 this week with solid victories over Apollo on the road and Hopkins County Central at home. Hopkins County Central After dropping both games this week, the Storm will look to right the ship with week on the road at Russellville. Caldwell County The Tigers still sit at 3-2 but fell to Hopkinsville in a lopsided game this week. The Rest of the Region: Union County- (2-1) Trigg County- (1-3) Crittenden County (0-4) Heritage Christian (3-3) Fort Campbell (1-3)

I'm hoping to catch the UHA @ Henderson County game next Tuesday night. Both teams are top 5 in the 2nd region and both have started the season well.

Team Rankings Lyon County This Week’s Performance: 103-69 win over Vienna, IL & 87-78 win over Memphis Whitehaven The Lions started the season off strong averaging 95 points in two wins over very good out-of-state competition. This week they take on Livingston Central and Father Tolton out of Columbia, MO. Father Tolton has a top 5 PG in the class of 2025 in the state of Missouri. Outside of Father Tolton, I doubt anyone on the upcoming schedule will test them before they head to the City of the Palms before Christmas. Henderson County This Week’s Performance: 52-48 win over Daviess County. The Colonels displayed balanced scoring and depth as they defeated the Panthers in their home opener. Daviess County played without the services of 6’9 DeAaron Watkins however as he is still waiting to be ruled eligible. Henderson County will get a tough test on the road against Paducah Tilghman this week. UHA This Week’s Performance: 70-43 win over Ballard Memorial & 85-58 win over Page out of Franklin, TN. My prediction on the Blazers being a problem for 2nd region opponents this year looks promising. UHA had two convincing wins this week with an average margin of victory of 27 points. We will find out just how good UHA is this week as they play Murray at home and McCracken on the road. Hopkinsville This Week’s Performance: 91-43 win over Trigg County & 72-54 win over Ohio County. Hopkinsville’s wins hint that the young Tigers may be ready to make some noise early in the season. Though both of their opponents were without their star players this week, Jhaden Vaughn of Trigg County and Elijah Decker of Ohio County, Hopkinsville won convincingly. They will get McCracken and Caldwell at home this week. Christian County This Week’s Performance: 59-62 loss to Butler County. Darrell Bateman put on a show scoring 29 points and pulling 15 rebounds in the losing effort. Bateman scored his 1,000th point as a Colonel. Though not a traditional 3rd region power, the accumulation of talent at Butler County around 2025 pg Ty Price has made them a legit contender to go to Rupp and thus, not a bad showing for Christian County. The Colonels are on the road at Madisonville and Paducah Tilghman this week before returning home against 16th region contender Rowan County on Saturday. Webster County This Week’s Performance: 68-65 OT win over Caldwell County & 73-54 win over Dawson Springs. Though Webster County won both of their games this week, they took a dip in the rankings as it is hard to argue they deserve a spot in the top 5 without their best player Deshawn Murphy. Evan Michalek and Jarvis Starks Scott will have to continue to carry the load for the Trojans until Murphy returns. This week the Webster will play Crittenden County and Hopkins Central at home. These games should serve as a good measuring stick for the Trojans. Hopkins County Central This Week’s Performance: 74-65 win over Muhlenberg County, 51-70 loss to Calloway County & 94-92 win over Todd County Central. The Storm were busy in the opening week picking up two solid wins at home while dropping a road game to 1st Region frontrunner Calloway County. Drake Skeen led the Storm, scoring over 20 points per game. Hopkins Central takes a step up in this week’s rankings and will be busy again in week 2 as they play Heritage Christian, Dawson Springs, and Webster County. Madisonville North Hopkins This Week’s Performance: 43-77 loss at Marshall County in the Hoopfest The Maroons get a pass for this week’s performance as they are attempting to blend their young talent, transfer Kanyon Johnson and other members of the football team together on the hardwood. Though the Maroons struggled to score, there is talent in the program and I expect they will start putting things together in the coming weeks. Madisonville gets Christian County at home this week. Caldwell County This Week’s Performance: 65-68 Loss to Webster County, 66-30 win at Fort Campbell. JayDarius Wilson’s 25 ppg led the Tigers as they split their games this week. Playing Webster County to overtime is a sign this Caldwell County team could play a spoiler role in the 7th District this season. Caldwell County has a big week ahead as they take on Fulton City and Trigg County at home before going on the road to Hopkinsville. Livingston Central This Week’s Performance: 77-56 win over Fort Campbell, 80-63 win over Crittenden County. The Cardinals opened up 5th district play this week with a convincing victory over Crittenden County. This win came on the heels of Logan Wring’s 38-point performance in their opening-night victory over FC. Livingston has a tough week ahead as they host Lyon County at home and go on the road to Union County. The Rest of the Region: Union County This Week’s Performance: 71-35 win over Heritage Christian, 55-68 loss to Apollo. The Braves dropped out of the top 10 this week after losing at home to Apollo. However, Union County has a chance to right the ship over the next couple of weeks as their next four opponents are ranked in the bottom half of the 2nd Region. Dawson Springs This Week’s Performance: 85-60 win over Christian Fellowship, 54-73 loss to Webster County, & 68-58 win over Heritage Christian. The Panthers can make a statement this week if they can hang with Apollo and Hopkins County Central. Crittenden County This Week’s Performance: 55-85 loss to Marshall County, & 63-80 loss to Livingston Central. The Rockets started the season struggling to find any scoring outside of Travis Champion and Bryson Walker. They will play Webster County and Trigg County this week. Ft. Campbell This Week’s Performance: 56 -77 loss to Livingston Central, & 30 -66 loss to Caldwell County. The Falcons face district rival Heritage Christian this week and go on the road to Cloverport. Heritage Christian This Week’s Performance: 65-40 win over Clarksville Christian, 35-71 loss to Union County, 58-68 loss to Dawson Springs The Warriors will face Hopkins County Central, Fort Campbell and Christian Fellowship this week.

Just and update on my 2nd region preview. Per the KHSAA website, Christian County's 2nd leading scorer from last season is now enrolled at and on the roster for George Rogers Clark.

I agree on BG, they are too low. They took Warren Central, last season's state champs to OT in the regional championship last season. They didn't lose a single player from that team. I think they could make a case for being #1. I also agree on the 10th region teams, however those two in particular do seem to have a lot of roster additions from one season to the next so that could certainly factor in to their current ranking. I must, however, disagree on Lyon County. I think they will prove to be the real deal over the course of the first 6 weeks of the season. They will get the chance too at the KOB and at the Lex Cath tourney after Christmas.
