  1. If Slone was as good as some on here think, he would have a Division I scholarship offer. .

That's not necessarily true. Some people just fall through the cracks in the recruiting process.

Adam Emmenecker of Drake, who was this year's Missouri Valley Conference Player of the year, was a former walk-on. And I know you say its Drake. But what was Drake? A 5 seed?

Or look at football. Dallas Clark was a walk-on LB at Iowa. Now look at him.

I play football in NAIA but I was at a D1 school originally. And I see kids all the time, at my school and at others, that could play D1 but weren't recruited by any big schools. I will tell you right now there are alot of kids at Gtown that could play at UK in football.

  2. Actually, it does. It's probably one of the few times in Slone's career that he has been defended by a Division I-caliber athlete and player.

I know he lit Jeffersontown up for 35 points, and the Chargers had plenty of athletes and quickness. But their defense was simply poor across the board in that game.

Well I'm pretty sure that BCG is a lot smarter then any of us on this board. So if he feels that Landon is capable of playing at that level, then I would say more then like he is.... regardless of what some of the "experts" of this site may believe.

  3. PHS was good enough to play with Holmes. Holmes struggled once again on the offensive end. I'm not sure if Arrez is going to be able to score at the rim against LexCath. They contest everything at the rim unlike 9th region teams and unlike PHS today.

PHS lost their composure offensively as well about halfway through the 4th qtr. That led to them losing their composure on the floor as well. They play hard. Give them credit. They just didn't control their emotions. Hats off to the Dogs for both the victory and not getting flustered.

Dead on assessment of the game. I could not agree more.

  4. With Scotty Hopson getting selected for the McDonalds All American Game does this make him the front runner for Mr. Basketball? Will this help him in the running?

Where does D. Miller and S. Mack stand in the running?

Who does BGP's think will win Mr. Basketball?

I watched Hopson at the All-A against Paintsville and he wasn't even the best player on his team (that game), let alone the best player on the floor. His teammate Edmonson , along with Slone and Grimm of Paintsville, all three impressed me more then he did. Grimm (maybe 6'2) went right at him the entire game and put up 29 I believe.

I'd be very surprised to see him as Mr. Basketball.

  5. IMO after watching this game, i felt that Edmonson was the best player on their team. He hit big shot after big shot and won this game for them. Hopson doesn't have much of a jump shot, he missed several shots that were , for lack of a better term, bricks. He is extremely athletic and does handle the ball well for his size, and can be force on the defensive end. But I felt that he didn't dominate the post like someone his size should , especially playing a team like Paintsville who isn't a very big team. I'll go as far to say that in this game on this day he was the 4th best player on the court. Edmonson, Slone, Grimm all outplayed him. And I know I will be criticized for such a statement but that just how I saw it from the stands.

  6. So, we're supposed to applaude him and pat him on the back for NOT being an idiot and for saying the right thing for once? "Terrell has 25 million reasons" to be a good teammate and not throw him under the bus.

And since we mentioned that quote and as others pointed out as well...TOO is a pretty emotionally unstable dude.

I don't think that I'm applauding anyone. I'm merely stating that he has changed . And for this year anyways I don't think anyone can dispute that. The problem with TO, is that he's been such a cancer and such a punk for so long that it is going to take more then that (as it probably should) for people to take him serious as a teammate and as a person.

  7. Guys, I'm a little confused by some of the earlier posts in the thread.

Was TO "balling" out on the field, with balling being a slang term for "playing ball?"

Or was he "bawling," as in crying, on the field? I do think the press conference tears were a bit much, but I didn't see him crying on the field.

Balling out, tearing it up, haha being awesome....however you want to put it.

  8. Regardless if the tears were real, or even if he truly was sincere it doesn't matter. The point is he could have thrown Romo under the bus (like he has all his other QB's) and he didn't.

I'm not a Cowboy fan and hadn't been a T.O fan , but I don't think there is any question he was sincere in what he said. And I don't think that the tears were all in defense of Romo. Anytime you put as much time into something as these players do for their football season, it is always tough when you don't meet your goal. Especially when T.O and the boys were the #1 seed in the NFC and the obvious choice to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl prior to last nights game. People change, and T.O seems to have changed. And he may prove me wrong , but all we have to go by is the last year and I feel like he has grown up and has become the teammate everyone wants.
