Well I spoke to soon as usual about Lamar. That was a terrible decision in FG range to at worst cut it to a 1 score game and he throws it into triple coverage. It is like he is trying to get all 10 points on one play.

I could not disagree with Gene Steratore anymore. That looked like pass interference. Still a bad decision from Lamar, but I feel like a huge penalty was missed.

Not really Bengals news now but did not want to start a thread just for this, but just saw a report saying that ex-Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis will become part of coach Antonio Pierce's staff with Raiders.

Bengals host the Raiders next year. I hope there is some sort of recognition for Lewis.

I don't think it was either or. I think both were necessary and a big part of the success. Belichick won that Super Bowl against Seattle. His defensive coaching led to the INT that won that game.

You are probably right. There are a lot of defensive stats that support the Patriots' defenses under Belichick were far superior to the rest of the league.

If we had to assign credit, I'm going 70/30 in favor of Brady.

I don't see many on their schedule that they can get.  Hopefully, the administration stays patient and are realistic with Coach Mccray.  The same administration ran Coach Young off...

This administration picked this coach, they didn't pick Coach Young. District level and school level admin are very realistic about how competitive Garrard should be. McRay will have a very long leash as long as families are happy and the team is not getting embarrassed on the court, which seems to be the case.

As often as Brady is called the GOAT, which he is, I still think people don't realize how much of the Patriots' success was directly because of him.

Brady leaves and immediately wins a SB with the Bucs. Brady leaves and the Pats basically become irrelevant. You'll never convince me that those two things are not directly related. The Pats before Brady were an afterthought organization, his arrival leads to 6 Super Bowl wins. Tom Brady could have went to any inept organization of the 2000's (Bengals, Jets, Lions) and won because he was the GOAT. Jerod Mayo only won Super Bowls because of Brady, not the famed Patriot Way.

It has much to do with being part of the Patriot culture, in my opinion. Since he was drafted he has been with the organization as a player or position coach.

I think the Patriot Culture is a lot of people taking a some credit for Tom Brady's greatness. If Mayo can win then maybe there is something to that, but I'm skeptical.

And #5 in rushing attempts. Looking at the top 30 RB in carries, Mixon was #17 in yards per carry.

Mixon had a good season. I like him and Brown at RB next year. I want at least 50 fewer carries for Mixon and 50 more for Brown- at a minimum.

I think my source included QBs.

Mixon was fine, but his days as a top tier RB are at least two years behind him. I'm with you in wanting to see Brown more.

Mixon is probably around the 14th best RB in the NFL, putting that salary right on target.

He was 8th in the league in yardage this year.

31st in yards per carry though.

I am pretty sure he is under contract for next year.

And next year, I want Chase Brown to take carries away from Mixon.

I wanted that to happen this year.

As far as the contract goes, he is under contract for next year but he can still be cut with minimal financial penalty.

The seedings and playoff schedule is now set for the AFC starting this Saturday.

    Playoff Teams:

    #1 Ravens-bye

    #2 Bills

    #3 Chiefs

    #4 Texans

    #5 Browns

    #6 Dolphins

    #7 Steelers

    Game Times:

    Saturday 1/13:

Browns at Texans @4:30 on NBC Cleveland -2

Dolphins at Chiefs @8:00 on Peacock (only I can't believe this personally) Kansas City -3.5

    Sunday 1/14:

Steelers at Bills @1:00 on CBS Buffalo -10

Browns-Texans looks like a good game, that defense has been so good all year. I don't think you can really trust the Dolphins to get a win in KC even if the Chiefs have been unimpressive all year.

This should be a good game. I think I would have to go with the Bills, but you never can tell which Josh Allen will show up. I think a lot of the Steelers chances will depend on if Watt can play at full strength. The early line has the Buffalo favored by -10.

10 seems crazy high to me, even if they don't have Watt. I think the Bills will win, but I will be putting some money on the Steelers with that line.

This is a hard season to really put in perspective. Missed the playoffs, horrible against their own division. With that said the Bengals finished with a winning record, while going against one of the top 10 hardest schedules in NFL history I read last week. They did this while only having a fully healthy Burrow for maybe 4 games. Then also had other key starters miss games. So while missing the playoffs sucks, I don’t think this off season should be a panic mode and blow it up situation as I have seen some say on twitter and facebook.

IMO you franchise tag Tee and try to trade him. If you can’t get good value for him, then you play this season out and get your comp pick for him in two years. You don’t sign back Boyd, cut Mixon, let Jonah walk because I think his price tag will be to expensive. Use some of that money to try to get better on their interior of the DL, and also another OL. They need to find a speed WR in the draft, and other than that they need to look for adding tough athletic players on both sides of the line in the draft.

I think that's a great off-season plan. Personally, I'd like to see them tag and keep Tee for this year. I think our receiver corps is in a great spot with Chase, Tee, Iosivas, Irwin, and Jones. CB seems to be a potential area to target in the draft with Awuzie taking a big step back after his injury. As the case every year lately, they've got to find more stability on that O-line.

Healthy Burrow and a more favorable schedule next year should see this team back near the top of SB favorites.

The Browns are locked in as the 5 seed no matter if they win or lose. So they won’t be playing many starters at all.

With that said I hope the Bengals don’t play many of their top guys either. No reason for a Chase, Higgins, Hendrickson, etc to possibly get a long term injury in a meaningless game.

Hendrickson is tied for the league lead in sacks. I'd like to give him a chance to grab that honor. He's among the most underrated players in the NFL and should be getting more hype for DPOY.
