3-1 Reds in the top of the 8th.
Lodolo looked great in his return.

That’s the week that Lincoln cancelled on them to play Danville who cancelled on Boyle. They were probably just trying to fill a game late to have a full schedule.
I'd be curious to hear some opinions from coaches on this. In this particular scenario, do you consider having your team just playing a 9 game schedule with 2 bye weeks?

I cannot restate this enough - parents are the worst part of coaching.
In my experience the worst reasons in coaching are:
1. Parents
2. Administration
3. Parents
4. Parents
5. Parents
...
879. The kids
Adults ruin youth sports more often than not.

My first question. Will the Stripes trade up to get Bowers (TE - Georgia)?
I would love that, but that is the most un-Cincinnati like thing imaginable. I think they will stay put and take the best available player that is a WR, OT, or DT. I am hoping for Latham out of Alabama.

I heard that thunder and lightning backfield might be thunder-less and lightning-less next year. If so, that would be a huge loss for Garrard.

Dawson was D-1 QB right? Do they have another D-1 QB on the roster? Bodner another big loss too. They will no doubt have good options at QB but all unproven at this point.
I think Dawson will be playing DB at the next level, but yes, still a big loss. I'm thinking another year of Tavey will be able to make up for anything they lost from last year's team. I can't think of a more slam dunk pick for Mr. Football at this point of the preseason than Tavey going in to this year.

Hendrickson asking for a trade right now surprised me. Am I missing anything here? I know he's 29, is he just hoping a trade will lead to one last BIG contract?
Apparently he is even considering retirement if he doesn't get a new contract before the season starts.

The Bengals also re-signed exclusive rights QB Jake Browning to a two-year contract through the 2025 season.
Here's to hoping we never see him again in a game.

Of course comparing 2023 to 2024 may be comparing apples to oranges, but looks like Boyle would have been very competitive. Still, a Big challenge!
I tend to think that 2024 Boyle > 2023 Boyle.

This is where I am. He’s been really good at times, but I’ve really never gotten the hype on him.
Been top 10 most of his career but never top 5 and he's felt like a top 2 headache too often.

Really? Why?
West Jessamine has been one of the better teams in the region for the last 15 years. They play in a very winnable district, with access to good athletes, solid facilities, and Jessamine County Schools pay the best in the region.
I would think almost every coach would find these to be attractive qualities if they were looking for a new position.

Bentley’s style of coaching will not be welcomed in Nicholasville.
Why do you say that? What is his "style?" I am not familiar with Coach Bentley.

Now that Rodney Woods is out of Wayne County, would he be interested in a move this far north?

So to your point, Scott County playing a Lincoln County team who went 2-9 in 2022 and 4-7 last year will help prepare them for their playoff run? Highly doubt it.
Great point. I don't see the same level of vitriol towards Danville for canceling their contract with Boyle as Lincoln is getting.

I should also say this and it's just my opinion from observations and conversations. There have been times over the years that I think the County has been anywhere from lukewarm to very interested. But I'm not sure there has ever been a time that the City has been very interested at all. A couple of time the DISD has gotten in pretty bad shape financially and some preliminary discussions took place I believe. But that hasn't been the case in a long time and right now I don't believe either side has any interest in a merger whatsoever! So we will probably just keep hearing rumors about it happening for the next 30-40 years.
I'm not sure how it would benefit Boyle County Schools at all. It's also worth noting that this would not be a quick process at all.

Do we really think this is the state championship?
#1 team vs #2 team in the entire state. A few other teams could win, but it would be considered an upset.

Will Lloyd be walking out in all black like they did for the Beechwood game, or do they have more respect for Newport?
Newport rolls, 70-55 in a game that isn't as close as the score would seem.

Great Crossing 62-58 in the de facto state championship.

regional championship don’t indicate who had the stronger districts.
I think that's a pretty valid statistic to cite. What would you use to evaluate strength of a district?

Kind of tough to call DCA a perennial region power, when, until this season, they had never BEEN, to a regional tournament.
Good point. I guess a better way to say that is that they have the talent to be a perennial power.

You are quite correct with the rural districts in KY and the pay. The same is true in every state.... ridiculously low pay.
What district did you come from and where are you in NKY? Hopefully it's a better situation for you and your family here in NKY.
Night and day difference up here. From my experience, top to bottom, NKY is the most passionate about their high schools from an academic and athletic perspective.
Boone County may be bottom tier for NKY but would be a mid to above average job in every other area of the state.

Boyle has not been a district winner too often in last 5 yrs- this yr was the case of bad luck with the draw.
To be fair, how many districts are tougher than the 45th? Lincoln, Boyle, and DCA seem to be perennial region powers. Not to mention every 2-5 years Danville and/or Garrard are capable of fielding strong teams that can compete.

And East has an 8th Grader that is really good. I think they won the salt river conference this year.
Based on what's being talked about the Open: West Jessamine thread it sounds like there needs to be a concerted effort to keep him a Jaguar next year....

34 on the ACT is incredible. Sounds like he could go anywhere he wanted just based on those academic credentials.
