I forgot about half the Boyle kids parents trying to run him off, so this would make sense. Once Hager quit, the Freshman a bunch of the kids and parents turned on him trying to get him fired. And I'm pretty sure Webb and Haddix don't see eye to eye.

Why are half the parent trying to run him off?

Your post I quoted above sounded like you think taking fall break off is bad. Did I read that wrong?

Do I agree with it? No. Do I think you can blame the parents for taking their kids on vacation during that week if the coach has already made it apparent that he won't be there? No, you can't. To me it is a commitment thing...you signed up to play football, you know football is played in the fall during fall break, honor your commitment and use that week to get better, especially if it is a bye week.

The decision to take off is up to that coach and whatever he thinks best is for his program.

Casey County football took fall break off.

Does that eliminate Levi Rogers from consideration for this job?

Please refer back to any comment I have made in this thread to show where I said taking off for fall break should eliminate any coach from getting the position.

What about parents? Parents are the ones that make the choice to go somewhere during fall break. Be it there is a game or not.

I find it there a good chance from reading comments those that have coached and those that have not. Those that have not tend to have a different view of most of the realities of coaching HS football.

I would think that if the HC comes out and says he is going on vacation that sets the tone for others to follow suit. If the parents truly care about the culture of the team and support their child making sacrifices/buying in to what the program is trying to accomplish then they stay and work during fall break...if their team has practice/a game and they choose to take their child away for a week, I think that speaks volumes too about being unreliable.

My two cents. I like this thought a lot. During breaks while in season, it is difficult to get all kids to stay in town. For many families, this is the only times that they can spend on a vacation together. And we as coaches are not going to win that battle forcing kids to stay home. People need to understand also that teenagers need a mental and physical break from time to time. This is not college. Their bodies are changing and cannot give full effort for long periods of time. Using Tony Holler philosophy - Train them like Fast Cats!!! - Lots of rest and go 100% when you go!!!

Players will give a coach whatever they have if they know the coaches expectations and everyone (coaches included) are help to those expectations. If the goal for coaches isn't getting kids prepared for a full 15 week season, then that is a disservice to the players. (whether or not they have the players to make it 15 weeks or not)

Players are essentially getting 3 days rest throughout the week, 2 days on the weekend and 1 day for walkthrough/pre-game on Thursday. I don't think it's too much to ask for players to go hard 4 days a week.

Go to an elementary school in Lincoln Co. on a Sat. during the winter, and that will tell you everything you need to know about why the basketball program has been a mainstay.  Lincoln Co. has a basketball culture that is unmatched in this area, and it bleeds into the MS program and HS program.  Coach Jackson is an outstanding coach, but kids in Lincoln Co. grow up wanting to be a basketball players and make state tournaments.  It can still be a solid football school IMO.

Has there ever been an effort made at the little league level to obtain a culture like that for football? It is my understanding that basketball is played year round at that level in Lincoln.

I saw the video of the morning training on social media then asked for details.  Several people chimed in to fill me in.  Basically, it's 5x per week, they start at 7:45 AM, lift everyday, dual sport (basketball/football) players are included but they do shoot arounds on "big game" days.  The football coaches support the basketball coaches.  It's not mandatory.  Lots of people think it's not had a negative impact on the basketball team.

What's your point?  What am I missing?

"Proper preseason and in-season strength training does help with basketball.  It has to be done with consideration for the fatigue accumulated due to games and practices.  That is a far cry from what this is."

When you say "that is a far cry from what this is," I take that as what the football team is doing in the mornings is not taking the athletes well being and fatigue into consideration.

If you can’t handle scrutiny then don’t apply for a paid position of power. I don’t love the fact that people complain about things but this is reality. Everybody is not going to constantly pat you on the back, no matter your occupation. But definitely don’t be a head football coach if your skin is that thin and you can’t handle criticism without publicly lashing back and trying to convince everyone how great and wonderful you are. Especially don’t do it at a school function that should be all about recognizing and appreciating the kids that ultimately determine your success.

It shouldn't have been done at the banquet but I think he was telling the parents don't complain and plant negativity in the players/kids heads. Sure, every program is going to have parents that disagree with the decisions but when the players take on the same mentality it bleeds out into the rest of the team and can change the whole trajectory of the season.

Martels Carter is a more highly rated recruit than Quisenberry.

And here is something that will surprise you even more - neither of them are the #1 recruit in KY 2025. The #1 recruit is Austin Alexander, Cooper

I read that thread wrong. I read that as Martels Carter was at Cov Cath..didn't put the correct name with the team!

Is Boyle really that much more athletic than Tilghman at receiver?  Is Dawson really a better passer than Jack Jones?

I don’t think Cov Cath needs to play perfect, but they absolutely need to execute better in the red zone than they did last week to win. Boyle probably doesn’t have a safety as good as Martels Carter in coverage, so hopefully Rodriguez can come down with some of these targets that he didn’t last week.

    Boyle's safety is Quisenberry lol.
