30 minute lightning delay this is I think the second 30 minute lightning delay. Gonna be hard for both teams to come out and play after this long delay.

Looks like the game is gonna be delayed due to incoming weather just as the 2nd half was about to start.

JC running back went down very hard on the play he looks to be injured not sure severity but he hit the ground decently hard.

JC with a great drive to score from about 8 yards out 7-0 JC 6:46 left in the 2nd quarter. JC has a team defense looks very solid Letcher looks good also.

Very odd start here both teams had chances to score JC fumbled on the Letcher 30 and JC had a man wide open on a 40 yard streak and sophomore QB overthrew him. Letcher stalls on the JC 5.

Big one tonight as Johnson Central takes on Letcher County Central at 6:00 PM at Shelby Valley. This should be an interesting season opener for both teams, especially with both programs having some questions to answer going into 2026. Johnson Central is coming off an 11-1 season and enters the year ranked No. 5 in Kentucky 4A, so expectations are obviously high. They have to replace some key production from last year's team. The biggest question for me is how quickly the younger/new players can step into bigger roles and whether Johnson Central can maintain the same physicality and consistency that made them so dangerous last season. They also can't afford to overlook Letcher in the opener with Madison Central and Belfry waiting on the schedule. Letcher County Central has even more uncertainty heading into tonight. The Cougars have a new head coach in Brandon Haynes, replacing Junior Matthews, so this is the beginning of a new era for the program. A new coaching staff and potentially different schemes can bring some growing pains early, particularly against a Johnson Central team that is already accustomed to winning at a high level. Johnson Central is obviously the favorite on paper, but do you guys think Letcher County can keep this competitive? Predictions? Score? Players to watch? This is absolutely terrible why would they move away from riherds that site worked so well for so long makes 0 sense.
