  1. Coach David Buchanan was just announced as the new Head Coach via AC Schools social media. Congrats to Coach Buchanan and the Bearcats!
  2. AC goes on Spring Break Friday. The announcement was expected prior to last day. AC admin didn't leave much space for official offers, counteroffers, counter-counteroffers, VA inspections, underwriting, haggling over who keeps the riding mower, and of course an official press conference. The decision was made to start this offer process following the first round of interviews. Alas, we wait.
  3. There were 5 interviews. I believe it's appropriate to leave the candidates nameless to respect their current jobs and student-athletes. However, I will say the interviewees ran the gambit from an asst. coach on staff, one with college coaching exp., a widely-respected head football coach, a successful young coordinator, and a coach from out of state. All this to the say the admin did a good job of compiling an applicant pool to have a quality tagline in the paper "After an exhaustive nationwide search..." Feel free to add as many grains of salt as you'd like.
  4. Interviews Today. Current staff has been assured that spring practice, set to begin the week after SB, is a go and the hire would be announced this week. - A reliable source
  5. Thought the Boone County argument was interesting considering I was reading an article from a coach I follow in Iowa. Just posted yesterday that the Iowa BoC voted to do just what Boone has suggested. Here is a link to the article and an excerpt. Not sure if other states do the same. https://www.iahsaa.org/football-classification-approved-2023-24/ The classification adjustment will reduce 40 percent of a school’s free or reduced lunch (FRL) count from their annual enrollment to determine their final classification number. “The State Board recognized the historical competitive challenges, supported by the data our staff assembled, which some of our schools have experienced,” Keating said. “The Board acknowledged the support from our member schools in this issue.” - Longtime BGP Lurker, First Time BGP Poster 🙂
