Just received a text with some good news that will allow me to sleep soundly tonight, unless Michigan loses, but the Colonels started their off season program this evening, and Coach Eviston was there leading the charge.

So am I understanding correctly that now the basketball and football programs are both handing their own off season and conditioning programs instead of using CCH's in house strength and conditioning coach? If so then that leaves what, soccer, baseball and wrestling conditioning in the hands of Atallah? If EE just made the move to take back his off season program, then that doesn't sound like a guy who's planning to jump to a new job at Brossart.

    This entire thing is interesting.

St. Henry job was open - I could see Wiggins applying for that. Could have ruffled some feathers applying for that, especially if he had not told anyone in Brossart administration.

Reading through the comments, if Adam Kozerksi is in fact a teacher at Brossart, with Bruce stepping down at HC, Adam may have started pressing for an opportunity at Brossart.

The only thing that would make sense to me for Eviston even considering this move would be his girls going to Brossart, assuming they would get free tuition. Then again, he has turned down a handful of jobs since at CovCath - GTown, Moeller, and, I’m assuming Beechwood. Brossart just wouldn’t make sense - unless he is truly done being at the high level and switching his focus to the next stage of his family life.

I’m leaning towards the divorce issue is not what Brossart fired Wiggins for, so with that assumption, they clearly have to have someone in mind. And Eviston would be a name that would make sense for them to move on from Wiggins. The only other name that would be worth making that move for, considering Wiggins commitment and success, would be Noel Rash. And even then I don’t see that.

But now since names have been dropped, to keep up with a typical Open Job forum, I’ll throw a list of potentials out there.

Eddie Eviston (mentioned twice now in thread)

Adam Kozerski (teacher at school, if not getting Holy Cross job, this is a possibility)

Noel Rash (have to mention him bc he’s the best available who is not coaching)

Terry Brown (would be a phone call I’d make - as NewCath, St. Henry, and Dixie all did when jobs were open)

Stephen Lickert (seems to always be mentioned. But goes back to age old question of what he thinks gets him closer to his ultimate goal of the Highlands job.)

Other than that, no one else comes to mind unless Brossart goes unconventional, out of towner, or first time HC - but again, if they choose any of these options, doesn’t make sense moving on from Wiggins without a guy in mind.

The Conch can’t figure this one out.

Who knows, but I'd be surprised to see EE head to Brossart. Not positive about whether or not Brossart offers free tuition to teachers' kids, but some diocesan schools only offer reduced tuition in that circumstance. Besides, EE is about the highest paid person in the building at 1600 Dixie Highway. And that's with him teaching like one class period per day and monitoring the lunchroom. The rest of his day is spent exclusively as a football coach.

Tuition is $8K at Brossart. Can they put together an attractive enough package for EE to make him give up his light duty in the school building plus his great pay at CCH to make him want to make the move? I'm gonna guess the answer is no.

So normally I wouldn't post something like this because I think it is personal but in this case it is relevant.  I am told Coach Wiggins is getting a divorce and because of that Brossart fired him.

    I am the messenger here.

    Anyone?

I know as a Diocese employee you have have to follow and embody the tenets of the Catholic faith. But do they really fire every diocese employee that gets divorced or otherwise violates one of the standard doctrines? I guess I get it, but if that's the case I wonder how they have enough teachers/coaches.

The Catholic church allows for people to get annulments in the divorce process and then to get remarried and still keep everything copacetic. I'd think Wiggins would have that opportunity. I don't know if he's Catholic or not, but if he is he'd still be in the church's good graces with an annulment.

There's a non-teaching assistant basketball coach in the diocese who married his 3rd wife within the last year or two. And I can think of several other diocesan teachers who are divorced without it being any issue for their employment, so I find it hard to believe that it's suddenly an issue for Wiggins. If that's the reason he's been given it would certainly seem like the double standard is lawsuit-worthy. Not sure if Wiggins would care enough to actually sue over it, but it seems like he'd have a pretty great case for himself if that was actually the reasoning he was given.

Hard to win a game when you play scared and the CCH coach is coaching scared.  Haddix played to win the game going for it in his own territory on 4th down, CCH punted on 4th and less than 1.  Show your team you have faith in them, get the first down, and keep the Boyle offense on the sidelines.

When EE faces adversity his play calling heads way south. I can't wait to see how many QB draws and screen passes he has drawn up for the second half.

CCH defense vs PT offense. That is what this game comes down to. Cov Cath's excellence over the past 10 years has been led by their defense IMO. They may have not been up to their standard this year but I think the CCH defense will get it done in this game.

Agree. IMO, Beechwood's pass game > Paducah's pass game. Beechwood's receivers are just as fast as Paducah's and they have a slightly better QB.

CCH got past Beechwood, and they're capable of getting past Paducah. Anyone who says PT beats CCH handily hasn't watched CCH play before or is wearing some awfully tinted glasses.

Flood and Kruer are 2 of the best linebackers in KY. Having Josh back is big for the Colonels. Defense wins championships. Go Colonels!

    Colonels by 21.

Kruer has a broken thumb. Tried to play through it on Friday and I think he ended up w/ 1 tackle and 1 assist. Not good for your team's leading tackler.

No running clock on Friday. Blazer is too good a passing team for us to be able to get a running clock on them.

St. Henry has already blessed whomever gets this job with a brand new facility. One would hope that with the birth of a young program those in charge would go after a young hungry coaching staff with something to prove! Starting with a middle school and JV season in 2024, it gives a staff a buffer to get things up and running. Nothing wrong with hiring an experienced head coach who's been in that role before of course, however there are so many experienced young coaches in NKY already that you just hope one of those guys gets the opportunity to build something similar to a Bishop Brossart. Off the top my head I can think a few young coordinators with plenty of successful experiences in coaching.

What about that facility is brand new aside from their turf? Which is now actually a year old already.

The stadium at SHDHS is like 2 decades old.
