  1. I'm confused about how the lack growth in Boone's district negatively impacts athletics. Does Boone not have roughly the same amount of students as Cooper and Conner? They are all 5A schools.

Boone also has a lot of kids who move away from the school due to its poor reputation. Most before they even arrive from middle school.

  2. Dixie really didn’t look that bad to me. Ryle’s play calling was very bad I thought but I was impressed with the size Dixie has.

I thought the higher seed owned home field. If Ryle or SK would win out they would end up being a higher seed than Tate’s Creek or Oldham County.

  3. I definitely feel the same. Conner's performance against Ryle compared to Highlands' performance against Ryle makes that all sit pretty funny...but it's a "here and now" ranking, and Conner's win over Highlands is much more here and now than either of the Ryle games.

The Highlands game was by far Ryle’s worst game of the year. I think it was officially 6 turnovers with multiple bad snaps on top of that. Also a QB that is not near varsity ready.

  4. I still believe what makes a player quit is the attitude of the team. As a coach you need to involve all your players and make it as positive as possible. In a losing or disappointing season this is harder than normal but it can be done.

On a football team with 40+ high school age boys I know that this is quite the challenge. Especially in 2019 with parents being more vocally opinionated than ever before through social media.

The first way I judge a coach is by how many players are standing behind him on the sideline. I always feel like Marksberry at SK has a huge team. That tells me kids like to play for him.

On the flip side if your a large school with a minimal amount of athletes you have an attitude problem. You have to weed that problem out whether it’s a group, a single athlete or maybe even a coach.

Most coaches fail to recognize this.

However the old saying still stands true; Winning Fixes Everything!

  6. My honest take is that if you paired up any of the 2-5 teams against one another, you could have a completely different result every time based completely on "which team" showed up at the game for each program.

I agree with this. I think these next 3 games are going to be massive for Ryle and the future. These are all must win games. Campbell and Dixie, Ryle should roll through and if not I would say you will see Raider Nation up in arms again. SK will be a battle because it seems to always be.

I still believe the Districts is Ryle or SK’s to lose. However Ryle was supposed to crush a terrible Dixie team last year and they were blown out. Hopefully Raider Nation isn’t taking these games lightly.
