  1. Not sure if I missed someone else posting it but Cov Cath needs to keep Eddie Eviston. Not that I’ve heard that he has thought about leaving but he has turned the program around in three short years back to a powerhouse. I know he is stacked with players this year but his play calling is top notch and he is a great leader that has had the kids believing in themselves since day 1.

  2. You're very close.

  3. The biggest thing that most people never think about is the disparity in school size within a given class. Even with 6 classes Ky has the following difference in school sizes between the largest and smallest in each class.

    6A 700-1377 96.7% difference

    5A 528-699 32.4% difference

    4A 421-527 25.2% difference

    3A 316-420 32.9% difference

    2A 200-315 57.5% difference

    1A 51-201 291.1% difference

Having 25% or more boys to draw from is quite a disadvantage to overcome, especially for smaller school.

I never thought of it this way..... Great point!

  4. For those that think Kentucky is so far behind the thinking of other states, here is a breakdown comparing other states that most closely compare population size to Kentucky.

Oklahoma has 500,000 less population than KY, has 11 Classes for Football

Oregon has 300,000 less population than KY, has 6 Classes for Football

South Carolina has 300,000 more population than KY, has 10 Classes for Football

Louisiana has 250,000 more population than KY, has 9 Classes for Football

Alabama has 450,000 more population than KY, has 12 Classes for Football

    Nice facts!!

Why would any state need that many classes? Makes me curious how many Texas and California have...... This shocks me.... Am I the only one?

  5. A few comments:

    1) The celebration tonight was awesome. I don't often "go on about it", but my grandfather was a Colonel, my dad is a Colonel, and I am a Colonel. Tonight's celebration of 50 years of Cov Cath football made me incredibly proud to be a graduate of Covington Catholic High School. My parents sacrificed a lot of things to send my brothers and me to Catholic schools, and I am immensely thankful for that beyond words.

    2) I've been following Cov Cath for most of my life. My parents tell people about how I knew the Cov Cath fight song when I was 2 years old. I do what I can to not 'gush' about Covington Catholic too often, but with the 50 year celebration tonight, I can't think of many times that I've been much prouder to be a Covington Catholic graduate and fan.

    3) I've been following Cov Cath for a decent while. I've been to every state championship game that Covington Catholic has played in, and from where I'm standing, the team that the Colonels are currently fielding would beat every single one of them.

    4) Cov Cath did not play their best game of the season tonight.

So glad that someone else loves CCH as much as us. However at the game/ after party. There were so many like us!!!!! The culture is changing and it always starts with the leader. Eddie Evinston has ran this team better than any HS team in my days. I was on on the 97 team and moved up on the 94 team after the regular season and this team could win if each team was on their best game. I can't say anything about the 86 or 87 Team's because I Wasn't there. I did watch the 06 team. They were very good but not on the level from this team or the other state teams. IMO..
