When you mention the top coaches in the 12th Region, Fraley has to be near the top with Jackson from Lincoln County and Woods from Wayne County.
He went into the regional HOF this year. He does a great job every year, and gets his kids to play hard. I would also say they have a very effective feeder system (similar to Lincoln Co.) Colton Fraley, Carson's brother runs the middle school program for them.

Congratulations to the Maroons. They were the better team tonight.

Interesting.. family in the area could play a role. So if offered do you think Young would be interested??
In terms of perception, is West Jess a better job than Somerset yearly?
He has a toddler @ home, and wife works in that area. I don't think it's necessarily a better job.

Could take a swing @ Coach Young. His wife has family in the area. It would be tough to get him to leave Somerset I would think, but they have the shortest coaching staff in the region. Only 1 assistant coach.

These teams will be meeting for the 4th time this season. Results:
- Dec. 15th Somerset 49-47
- Jan. 26th Pulaski Co. 63-56
- Feb. 29th 47th District Championship Somerset 55-52
It will be super tall task for Somerset to bounce back from last night's semifinal, but this team has been very resilient all season long. The Maroons have been as well. Both teams have navigated injury problems, and both coaches have done a great job tweaking their defensive systems to get their teams to this point.

Coach Young is used to being an underdog. Many of his Garrard's teams were in the 45th, and they always were able to remain very competitive in the majority of those contests. The Jumpers will have to mustard up great resolve tonight in the finals!

Coomer hit a couple of big 3's against DCA in the recent game.
Yes, he was a solid player for the Jumpers but has unfortunately been injury plagued his whole career. Lewis is a really good shooter, just not as physical being a FR.

I've heard that Bruner is out. Who else is out for Somerset?
Bruner has been out since Feb. 3rd with Shoulder injury. Coomer hurt his knee in the district semifinals. FR. Guard Josh Lewis has played well (18 points in Region 1st RD.) but is not the same physically on defensive end of the floor.

Somerset will have to be competitive on the glass, and try to neutralize paint scores. It's important for them to stay out of foul trouble being limited with some guys out with injuries. DCA is a tough matchup, but Somerset runs some creative stuff to get shot opportunities that can present some issues. I agree with previous poster this game will be low scoring.

Games will have live video feed on Maroon Sports Network. Lake Cumberland will have audio feed of both games as well.

I think outside of Wayne Co. you can argue these are the best teams in the 12th region, and have been so for most of the season. DCA is the favorite (with only 1 regional loss and huge size advantage), but will have to go through the gauntlet (already playing Wayne in an OT game) of worthy challengers.

Thanks for your continued coverage and breakdown all season. I expect two pretty good ball games tonight.

Congratulations to Coach Breeze and Adair Co! Nice run out of the runner-up slot!

Mercer got beat by SW by 14 two weeks ago. There are no easy games in the region tourney with Rupp on the line and Sr careers coming to an end. Teams just play different in region.
Yes, I get the theory but not all games or draws are created the same. Like mentioned, Hutchinson was on 1 foot and DCA is a totally different matchup with their size and length. Especially the first time you face it.

I give SW a ton of credit that whole tournament. They had the toughest road of anybody and came out on top. That's why I am never too concerned about the draw when it comes out. Mercer definitely choked. There is a picture of the last play and literally Mercer had two players that could have walked in for a layup. SW had 5 defenders collapse on one Mercer Player at the top of the key and rest is history.
I’m sure Mercer Co. Preferred getting a so-so SW team, instead of the consensus #1 DCA in first round. Most years, I agree with you but with DCA being a runner-up this year Wayne Co. got the tough matchup.

DCA should handle Somerset fairly easily.
It was a 3 PT game in the season finale? Maybe you're right, but I think Somerset will lay it out there and be ready to go. DCA is the far more athletically gifted team for sure.

I really don't understand the Massey Rankings in regards to Somerset. They've taken 2 out of 3 from Pulaski Co. (Including the District Championship on a Neutral Floor last week). But, rated 40 spots below them. Make it make sense.

To be fair, how many districts are tougher than the 45th? Lincoln, Boyle, and DCA seem to be perennial region powers. Not to mention every 2-5 years Danville and/or Garrard are capable of fielding strong teams that can compete.
47th has been better, or atleast just as good recently. Along with Pulaski and Somerset, Rock was a very good team this season (and last year as well). Two 20+ win teams this season with Pulaski and Somerset, and both in the Semis.

DCA Boyd made some huge pull-up jumpers for them down the stretch to push game to OT.
-
Jumpers started cold, but made 11 3s for the game. They will need to make perimeter shots to contend with DCA Mon. Night in Semis.

Not saying Southwestern would have won, but sure would have been interesting to see the difference in a healthy Hutchison play. Young man is a really good player and can shoot the lights out from 3. He hobbled a few minutes but could not give the effort to help much.
That's what I was thinking too! Kid had a strong back half of the season!
