  1. Dicky Beal, Ricky Walton, Mark Elmer, Elliott Simpson and Kevin Sebastian I think were the starting five on that '80 team. Todd Whatley first guy off the bench. The year before that, Holmes had Phil Davis and Beal in the same backcourt but lost to Highlands in regional finals.
  2. They are both great players! But Fredrick has been better this season. I think some coaches just have the anti-CovCath vote in their back pockets. It is a shame if that's why Fredrick didn't get the award alone. We will see in March!
  3. Coaches couldn't make a decision on the best. Did all coaches see both players?
  4. Is this the correct call by the coaches? You know where I stand. Looks like the coaches were split on the two players. Story is here from N. Ky. Tribune. Two seniors share Division I Player of the Year in boys’ basketball after coaches’ voting ends in tie | NKyTribune
  5. You have all the talent in the world at that school to pick from. You shouldn’t be losing that many games and they aren’t losing close games they are losing by a lot.
  6. 1) Joe Frederick(Covington Catholic)- Wouldn't be surprised if someone calls him to be their next head coach. Flat out gets it done. Comes from a great family. Has a lot of connections in college basketball so his players can go to college and play basketball. Can relate to the kids. I believe one of the best assistant coaches in the state. 2) Ben Franzen- Has been at Covington Catholic for two years. His record is 42-0. When was the last time that happened? 3) Casey Sorrell- Former college GA. Had the opportunity to stay in college basketball but decided to be a teacher and basketball coach. 4) John Bud Wimzie- Holmes High School. Great coach even better person. Those are my top 4. Who else do you believe should be on this list?
  7. Is it time for a new coach? Last year record 8-18 This year 7-21
  8. Cooper senior guard Lexi Held, the second leading scorer in Kentucky girls’ high school basketball this season, was named the Division I Player of the Year by the Northern Kentucky Girls Basketball Coaches Association. She's going to DePaul for college. See story. Cooper senior guard Lexi Held voted top player in Division I girls’ basketball for second straight year | NKyTribune
  9. Cooper lost to a team Cov Cath beat by 20+. I have put facts on here about Frederick! Still waiting for someone to post facts why Kunkel! Right now it’s all about people’s opinions. Will the real player of the year please stand up!
  10. CJ proved his point tonight, why he is the best player in the state!
  11. Talking about strength of Schedule. Madison Central >Scott On the road against top 5 team 32 points. Once again C.J. Frederick player of the year! Will the real Player of the year please stand up!
  12. I have posted facts about why Frederick should win it! Not saying Kunkel isn’t a good player. C.J. had a better year! I have backed my post up with facts!
  13. Facts are Facts! 1- C.J. plays the hardest schedule in state 2- C.J. has better season averages 3- C.J. stats against like opponents not even close 4- CJ was better in combined head to head. 5. C.J. has one regional loss. Kunkel has two
  14. He played full strength against Highlands. He played bad and coach took him out. There is no way Frederick shouldn’t win! Best player against best competition, on the best team!
  15. You still haven’t answer me this FACT! Like opponents Stats: CJ Frederick- 25.0 ppg. 63% FG 55% 3's 86% FT Adam Kunkel- 19.1 ppg. 51% FG 45% 3's 83% FT
  16. Leesburg would be the best team in Ky as they are in Florida. Cooper would of not won a game in Florida! Big Ten basketball is so much better than the OVC. Cj had offer from Belmont and Adam did not have a big ten school offer.
  17. Come on man he had 4 points against Highlands, 10 on Boone(lost), 9 on Cov Cath and Nowak killed him scored 5 points in last three minutes when game was over! Numbers don’t lie. I am giving you facts! There is no way Coopers Northern Kentucky game are better than Cov Cath.
  18. Your clearly a Kunkel homer. Because competition isn’t even close! If you watched the Florida games then clearly you saw they were way better than Skills Acacemy. Frederick rarely sees the double teams because he’s the best passer in the state. There is a reason why he is playing in the Big Ten!
  19. All your points don't make sense at all. I'm a NKY High School fan not a homer Please explain to me this: Like opponents Stats: CJ Frederick- 25.0 ppg. 63% FG 55% 3's 86% FT Adam Kunkel- 19.1 ppg. 51% FG 45% 3's 83% FT Advantage: CJ Frederick To say that Kunkel is a better defender, you base that on what? People would argue that CJ is better defender and I would take CJ as a better defender. To say that Kunkel outplayed CJ is just silly in the KOB KOB opponents: Pulaski County, Fairdale, Trinity, Cov. Cath( They played 4 game in 5 days). Covington Catholic KOB: Ensworth, Ballard, Fern Creek and Cooper( Played 4 games in 4 days). Covington Catholic had way harder road at KOB. KOB: CJ Frederick: 27 points vs. Adam Kunkle 22 points Advantage: CJ Frederick The Lexington Tournament wasn't close to competition that Covington Catholic faced in Florida. Cooper vs. Covington Catholic at BOK Adam Kunkel: 9 points 25% CJ Frederick: 13 points 55.6% ( played with the Flu). Advantage: CJ Frederick I disagree there is no way CJ isn't player of the year. 1) Better Stats against Tougher Schedule 2) Better Numbers against each other 3) Better Numbers against NKY schools Kunkel had a great year just Fredericks was much better
  20. If you look at the Strength of Schedule, its night and day between Covington Catholic and Cooper. Covington Catholic has the hardest schedule in the State of Kentucky
  21. Like Opponents: PPG: CJ Frederick wins by 4.9 pg. Field Goal %: CJ Federick wins by 12% 3point Field Goal %: CJ Federick wins by 10% Free Throws %: CJ Frederick wins by 3 % Its stats against Northern Kentucky Schools is the best in 25 years.
  22. After looking at stats CJ Frederick, he should run away with Player of the Year in Northern Kentucky. Stats for the Year: CJ Frederick ( Covington Catholic): 22.5 ppg. 57.4% FG 48.8% 3FG 83.7 % FT Non 9th Region Schedule: Lexington Catholic, Cincinnati Moeller, Cincinnati La Salle,Ensworth, Ballard, Fern Creek, Florida Prep, Leesburg, Pickerington Central , Oak Hill, IN, Middletown, Roger Bacon, Boyle County and Madison Central Many of those of those Non Kentucky schools are listed as the top schools in the class. One of the toughest schedules in the state. Stats against Northern Kentucky Schools: 25.0 ppg. 63% FG 55% 3pg 86 % FT You also have to consider that he isn't play the full game against a lot of these NKY teams. Those stats are unreal. Many consider him one of the best to ever play at Covington Catholic. Those stats prove that he might be one of the best in Northern Kentucky in a long time. To me its a no brainer .
  23. NKU 12-2 in the Horizon League, one game up on Wright State at 11-3. Wright State beat NKU earlier at BB&T. Both teams have 19 wins as of Friday. Can NKU stop Benzinger, or just contain him? Same with the Wright State big man Loudon Love? With much at stake, NKU collides with Wright State in nationally televised showdown Friday at 9 p.m. | NKyTribune
