A lot of contact on the attempt at the end of regulation.
No way. Great no call. Very good defense.
-
Anderson held the ball the whole overtime to take last shot. That style works for them.

Different teams different matchups
-
Tied 14 seconds. Anderson ball.
-
When I saw Collins score against Anderson I knew it was going to be tough.
-
This score is surprising Spencer has more talent at all 5 positions imo. I do look for Spencer to pull away in the 2nd half.
Spencer County up four with 3:49 left.
-
Anderson County taking basketball back to the fifty's. Halftime Anderson County 20 Spencer County 16. It's working for them. Hard style to deal with.
-
Your Bears should handle this one rather easily. Did they have school today? Will they be allowed to play?
Both schools out but I'm pretty sure the game is on.
-
Big game tonight for Anderson County and Spencer County. The loser will most likely be playing Collins in the district semifinal. Neither team wants to do that. Should be a spirited contest.
-
Collins not playing like they were earlier in the season. What's going on?
-
Nice win for the Bears. NB is no cakewalk. The Eagles can flat-out score.
I was impressed by North Bullitt. Conley got three fouls one minute into second quarter. Sat out probably a quarter and a half of the game. Good road win for Spencer County.
-
Gallatin struggled against Spencer County pressure. They harassed Rassman into 8 turnovers. Rassman plays hard. Not alot of help. Just my observations from one game.
-
Spencer County scoring:
Conley 26
Hornback 18
Whitlock 13
Mabrey 8
Roark 5
Brown 3
Nichols 2
-
Well he got three if you count the free throw he got after the blocking call.
-
I heard one player was out but not one of their key players. Any Gallatin County fans know?

Spencer County starting to get things going. Sophomore Gage Mabrey with the poster dunk on Rassman.

Enrollment may not be everything, but when you look at recent 8th region champions you see a lot of the larger schools consistently in the mix (Oldham, South Oldham, Collins) with the exception of SK.
A school as small as 100 can put five good players on the court at any given time. However, enrollment & the depth that often comes with it becomes an advantage over the course of the year when dealing with injuries and practices. The quality of the second team at practices can't be overlooked. Take Spencer County as an example, they have "four guys who can score 25 on any given night" and "four guys who will play in college," but I guaranty the quality of their second team that they face in practice each day is nowhere near the caliber that South Oldham's or Oldham County's starting five face in their second team. That's an advantage in trying to simulate game situations and prepare for tough opponents.
Any school with 200 or 300 extra boys has an advantage, and has probably benefited from a feeder system in which multiple schools feed into a high school. That keeps more kids playing through middle school who often develop at different stages. All things equal, I'll take a larger school's chances over a smaller school any day.
As a Spencer County fan I will agree with you. You are correct.

To say no they won’t win it I understand but to say no chance is a ridiculous statement.
3 teams are the clear favorites for good reason, it would be an uphill battle for sure but they do have the pieces and playmakers to make a run if the outside shots are falling.
Not trying to be disrespectful but teams that rely so much on one player generally don't go very far in tournaments. You asked if they could reach the sweet sixteen. There are too many good teams above them. Just because you knock off a contender in one game doesn't mean much. They did lose to Grant County the night before. I truly believe that Simon Kenton has almost no chance of winning the 8th region. Great win against Collins though. Niece had to get 39 to upset Collins. He would probably need to do that three games in a row. Not going to happen.
-
I would say Simon Kenton has no chance.
-
Cut CM some slack, he was not broadcasting the game, just trying to let everyone know the score. A lot of guys had a pretty good game. If you had so much interest why were you not there?
For once I agree with you 4quarters lol.
-
No, We actually went deep in the bench in second quarter while up 26 but played a very bad fourth quarter and let them back in the game. I feel Spencer County is better than what they showed in the first half yesterday.
Spencer County's point guard was getting medical attention for over a quarter of the first half. That had a big impact for Spencer County. While Conley is their best player, Whitlock runs that team and is one of their best defenders. Not trying to take anything away from St. X but that was a factor.
-
Interesting comments about Ballard’s starters remaining in the game, especially with the amount of depth Ballard has. They can go about 10 deep on most nights.
Ironically, yesterday St X almost let a 26 point lead slip away against Spencer County. Did St X pull their starters too early in that game?
St. X kept their starters in the whole game against Spencer County. That 26 point lead was in second quarter before Spencer County started their comeback.
