  1. Having seen OC on film I feel as though they can play with anyone in their class. They had a couple chances to beat Owensboro but let Special teams beat them in the end. They will be a tough out in the playoffs.

I understand the not being able to find people to play. People think its easy and that you can just call and match up schedules and be done but Christian Co has had lots of trouble in past too. They had to play a home and away with Knoxville Fulton the last 2 years.

  2. I know that I probably will get a few laughs outta this post, but I feel Graves County is starting to get things figured out with their team..I'm not saying their championship material as of yet...but I will say they have the possibility to surprise a few..just hope they continue to improve!

Eagle they have steadily gotten better as the year has gone on. The freshman QB is going to be really good, they always find big guys and a running back. I just don't know how good they will be by the end of the year. Time is running out and that region is very tough as always. They should return strong in years to come though, I do not seem them staying down for long.

  3. Thanks Blue! I'm not looking for fights to break out, but I would like to see a good rivalry evolve between Hopkinsville and Madisonville in the Battle of the Pennyrile Parkway!

They have played every year for a long time. Has not been a district game in a while but has been a pretty heated rivalry that usually has some good games. This should continue in the years to come, especially now that they are district foes. Hopkinsville is getting back to its winning ways after a few years in the gutter and MNHHS is having a tough season but will not stay down long. Should be a good game for years to come.

  4. Map, This is a good catch actually from the standpoint to reiterate that this ranking is fluid. Rankings in past weeks are just that in past weeks. Those wins (and loses) carry forward, but only to a degree. And I do realize just how good Owensboro is because I moved them up 1 last week in front of a Very good Mayfield squad who is still very good but didn't hit on all cylindars last week and Owensboro is ranked ahead of them in most other polls.

Lastly, I would have had to have kept them in front of Caldwell County as well based on your post because Christian beat Caldwell by 3 first game of the year. Hoping you can see my point:thumb:

I can't disagree on the Caldwell being ahead of Christian. A lot has changed since the first game of the year and those Tigers have been on a roll ever since that game. Only one I questioned was Hoptown because they had a bye week after the Christian Co loss and then beat a Madisonville team that is just not very good. I understand that this fluid though and look forward to next weeks. Thanks for doing this each week.

  5. Looks about right. Only thing that could be argued would be Hopkinsville above Christian Co. I know the Colonels just got beat pretty bad but the Tigers last game before this week was a Two TD (nearly 3) loss to the Colonels. The Colonels two losses are against teams in your top 4 and 2 of their wins are against teams ahead of them.

    Always an interesting read though.:thumb:

  6. This game was much closer on the field than on the scoreboard.

Hoptown dominated time of possession and actually outgained CC in yards. CC secondary looked good so Johnson had a terrible throwing night. 16-43 for 326 was the line I think I heard.

Both teams showed staunch running defense. Christian County actually had negative total rushing yards heading into the 4th quarter, finished with 36 attempts for 64 I think. Hoptown had 24 attemps for 34 yards.

It was all about the passing game and Hoptown missed their chances and Christian County hit theirs. As I said earlier this year, Hoptown's weakness is their secondary. A good passing team will show. Kenner had 2 catches for 96 yds and 2 TDs.

This game really could have been the same score but in the opposite direction if Hoptown caught a couple and County didn't.

County played a great game and deserved this win! I do not think they have a chance against the big boys in 5A. The same as I don't think Hoptown has a chance against the big boys in 4A

    Silo,

I agree that Hoptown missed some opportunities but as far as saying the score could have been flipped I don't really see that. County Lead by 21 most the 2nd half and also had a pick 6 that was taken off the board. Hoptown got their last score with 41 secs left to make the final score. I do believe it could've been a much tighter game though if plays go a little differently. Two good football teams and I do not see Hopkinsville losing again until playoffs.

As for County and Owensboro, it should be a very good game. I think everyone looks at the BG scores and judges Christian Co by that but think that score is a little deceiving and Colonels are always a team that are much improved later in the year. Game is at Owensboro and should be for the district championship. Think it will be a good one.

Louisville_Cards please stop. Understand being excited about your team but do it with respect, as a colonel fan you are embarrassing.

  7. Turnovers always make a huge difference in ball games. I think Christian Co. has a much higher upside but will they play up to their potential? Hopkinsville is a good football team and has been playing well. Both teams have athletes that can make plays. I think Christian Co. has a slight size advantage in the trenches but they had trouble picking up Hopkinsville's blitzes last year. I don't think either locker room will be underestimating the other team. Should be a good atmosphere and good high school football game.

  8. How in the world is this possible in football ?

Throwing flags after they watch to see outcome of a play, throwing flags when coaches question a call (and I mean truly just questioning, not yelling/cussing the official), waving off a penalty any time a specific official throws a flag, having multiple stoppages to discuss calls where conferences last more than 30 seconds. These are just a few things, I could probably come up with a few more. I am not saying this happens often but I have seen this in the last couple years at a couple of games I attended.

As a stated earlier though, luckily I have not seen that this year.

  9. If everyone is focused on making it "fair" as far as travel distances than Lindsey Wilson College is about as centrally located as you are going to get. It is just not a big enough stadium (Although it is a nice small facility) and town is not big enough. With WKU, EKU, UK, or UofL someone always ends up traveling a lot farther than other teams. I like the idea of 2 year rotations. 2 at WKU and then 2 at EKU, once it is renovated. The larger stadiums just don't provide quite the atmosphere for the event and Richmond/Bowling Green are cities that are capable of hosting.
