  1. Well said RAM, any body, and I mean any body who over looks any team come playoffs can be beaten on a given night (excluding some 1 vs. 4 match ups). That's what I meant earlier these season, 'that I hope we (DeSales) meet Mayfield cause that means we got pass the CAL's and Murray's and OC's....DeSales got some work to do on offense and could use a little tweeking D too (stopping BIG plays)......so the argument of who's number 1 now is fun but meaningless.

  2. Hey ColtFootball, I didn't like the fact the offense struggle in rain (to be expected)....fumbles, drop passes etc. can't do that against FC/CAL. The Defense set them up for most of their scoring drives. I know the offense is good, but I want them sharp coming off opening kickoff (not asking much, LOL), just look at our 1st quarter scoring the last 3 games. We had a lot of 3 and outs early....as for the Defense, it is sharp as a tack. They may get burn a play or two in a game, but man-o-man they are sweet. No problems there brother.....

  3. DeSales still got a game with a (2-1) 5A Fern Creek team which their only loss was to Manual (28-18) in 2 weeks. And then a little-O-game with rival CAL. Forget that their (1-2), they hung with a powerful Simon Kenton team for 3 quarters and their game with 3A power Central last night came down to the wire. La Fors a great coach, he will have them ready.

  4. Saw the game tonight, and DeSales defense is really good. They allow only 2 breakaways, first one got in the redzone and yet the D didn't let Ballard didn't put any points up(late in the 2nd Q). The second breakaway had two guys miss tackles for a long Bruin TD run, which made the score 19-6(I got a little concern as the MO started to shift to the Bruins).... Again the defense hurried the QB a lot, made some really hard hits, and were quick to the ball. Offense seem off in the 1st and 3rd quarter(Ballard had a lot to do with that). Yet the Colts exploded on them in the second Q. Then they control the final period like they own the place. I figure the Colts could win this one, yet I was a little surprised about the final score. The Mumford kid had a heck of a game @ LB of DeSales.

  5. Yes there is difference...6A schools have 3 times as many boys to pick from compare to 2A, just the 'law of averages'....DeSales can dress 90 if you count freshmen.I don't think a single frosh got on the field against Butler, it's closer to 60.To me it seems to be a numbers game, the more you got, the more depth, size, speed and options you have...2A schools like Mayfield, CAL Murray, OC, New Cath. etc. who compete/succeed vs. the Big Schools I think they tend to get large segments of their male population to come out join the football teams compare to some other programs. Of course having the right coaching staff with a great system, large fan support all contribute to success. A good example, is a school like Mayfield, they have been doing this for decades. So I think the DeSales fans have a certain respect for the 'big schools like Ballard, Trinity, St.X, Male etc they have so much more to pick from....

  6. Ballard crushed a weak Oldham Co. team in the first week, get blasted the next week by potentially the best team in 6A (Male)....So where does this Bruin team rank/compare to the past two teams the Colts has played, (Fairdale,Butler). Has anyone seen them play yet? A friend told me he seen the Male game and was surprised by how they struggle with the Bulldogs. Guest will find out Friday

  7. First time I've seen DeSales play this year, came away impressed. They need to fine tune some blocking assignments, but considering the new guys on the O-line, not bad. Some breakdowns on Defense costs us some quick TD's. Yet they sure do move to the well to the ball and the D-line were firing thru the gaps ! I'm sure the coaching staff will work on these things this week...better prepare for Ballard.
