  1. Beechwood repped all 3 QBs through the 7 on 7's, and of course they missed Burch, he was a 2 year starter that knew the offense inside and out. He will not be replaced overnight, it's going to take some time for a new QB to get comfortable.

  2. They were forced last year to throw the ball more thanks to the season ending knee surgery to the stud running back. But the backup got plenty of experience for his junior season who is also a very good linebacker as well.

They will not be the favorite in this year but they will have a capable team of knocking off anyone and we saw in 2017 the favorite doesn’t always win or the next best.

Just curious, Beechwood won the title in 2017, are you saying that they were not one of the 2 favorites heading into the season?

  3. Senior class is going to be the strength of the team, but they do have some holes to fill with some quality juniors and seniors to be.

It looks like they found their QB. The need to replace Davis at RB. I kinda see a RB by committee this year as they have some quality athletes there. They lose a starting TE/LB in Heist. Their shut-down corner is gone. The lose 1 OL and 1 DE. The biggest loss may be Mescher as his special teams impact was huge, and I'm not sure they have anyone to fill that void.

No RB by committee, the job is Logan Castleman's. He may spend some time in the slot, but he and Derry will get the majority of the carries. Logan will definitely need a few breaks on offense because he's crucial to the defense as well, but make no mistake, he is going to have a very good year running the football for Beechwood.

  4. Honestly they could go to state or be out in districts. They have won most games despite head coaching.

No consistent lineup or field positions. Infielders playing outfield, never playing the best players against the best competition, and mistakes little league coaches wouldn't make...

They have a football coach trying to be a baseball coach. Never played the sport himself and it shows this year.

Whether most of your comments are true or not ... no clue. .... I do know for a fact that at the very least ... your Head Coach played baseball from the time he was extremely young until the end of high school.

Are you really saying that the team is 12-5 ... and the Coach has nothing to do with that? (I have no clue--but I do know that when other coaches read this stuff ... it makes them extremely not interested in coming to a place like that).

Again ... not doubting you ... but I would assume all of the parents who have "issues" have met with the coach ... and had the same discussion that they are bringing to light here?

  5. What do the four stones around the paw represent? It looks like the two on top are ruby and diamond footballs. It is hard to tell in the picture what the two on the bottom are.

There are 13 red ruby's in total ... which symbolize 13 total state championships. The two stones at the top of actually the top of two "back to back" championship trophies.

The picture above doesn't really speak to the true dimensions of the ring ... so here are a few more (keep in mind ... the ring in the picture is size 14). There is also a picture of this years and last years together ...

  6. Cager and his attorney need to look up the case of Tim Richmond from 1988 vs NASCAR.

There is no way to test truly treat a person fairly to ensure that the first test is performed properly if a separate retest is not performed with a separate lab. (Any athlete that signs a contract that allows the school board to perform testing without a two separate test process better toe the line--which they SHOULD be doing anyway--but there are quite a few examples of organizations jacking with test results to get rid of certain individuals).

If Cager wants to win this battle ... there are numerous points which can be gained by the case of Richmond (which was one of the biggest witch hunts in professional sports history ... and eventually led to the complete revamping of the NFL's drug testing policy).

  7. The final BluegrassPreps Class 1 Rankings, from the first week of the playoffs:

    Class 1A

    1. Beechwood

    2. Paintsville

    3. Kentucky Country Day

    4. Hazard

    5. Raceland

    6. Paris

    7. Pikeville

    8. Ludlow

    9. Williamsburg

    10. Frankfort

Raceland beat the number two team in the rankings, Paintsville and the team that beat the number four team in the rankings, Pikeville. Raceland also beat the number six team, Paris. Beechwood beat the number three team and the number ten team. Both teams also beat unranked teams in the first round (Raceland - Bishop Brossart and Beechwood - Campbellsville)

If we are going to compare wins, then let's compare wins. Beechwood only played the class A teams that they had to play. They beat #3 KCD 35-14, #8 Ludlow 63-0 and it was 56-0 at the half, #10 Frankfort and that was 47-0 at the half. They also beat #6 in AA Somerset 7-0 in a driving rainstorm, #8 Lloyd 35-14, and #10 NCC 34-6. Let's also not forget that the only blemish on Corbin's record is the 36-29 defeat at the hands of Beechwood. I think the rest of the state just found out this week, what Beechwood already knew.....that Corbin is a really good football team. Let's just hope for an injury free, competitive game between two good teams. Raceland has Beechwood's full attention.......just like Frankfort, KCD, and Campbellsville did. Raceland is the next rung on the ladder on the climb towards trying to defend the title. May the best team win.
