  1. I like your enthusiasm, and I know, thunder1, is making it very hard to be humble. My prediction is that Danville will win big again, but its not going to be automatic. Danville has to have the intensity and killer instinct they have been playing with and stay focused on the goal. I remember a situation I think back in 1988 Coach Harp's first year when Danville blasted Somerset in the regular season like by 50 or 60 points only to lose to them in the regional (I think).

I think Clay will keep their minds right, but that year always comes to mind when we have a rematch with a team we beat easily in the regular season.

That was actually 1999 (could've happened in the 80s as well I suppose but this is the one I remember) when the Somerset regional title took place at Danville. Somerset had been beaten by Danville 35-14 in the regular season (not by 60 pts) only for Somerset to catch fire in the playoffs and avenge an ugly loss to a then powerhouse campbellsville and a very good Danville team the next week. Somerset went on to lose to Mr. Football winner Travis Atwell at Hancock County in semi state.

LCA is too one dimensional to beat the admirals. I said it the first time and I'll say it again. Admirals big. Hate it, truly do, but I'm beginning to dislike LCA more than the Ads, and that is saying a whole lot.

  2. Let me preface this by saying that I'm obviously a Somerset fan so I innately despise Danville...

That said, coach clevenger has done a good job getting his kids to buy in defensively, and Danville ALWAYS has athletes, that's a dangerous combo. I said on here this week that danvilles interior would be hard to contain defensively and I was correct it appears. I hope Somerset gets to travel to Admiral stadium in week 2 of the playoffs and have one more shot of solving the 2015 admirals puzzle. Grats on the win, from a jumper fan...

  3. Somerset wont beat LCA for the next few years.

So let me get this straight... You beat an 0-10 Somerset team last year by 1, and a rebuilding Somerset team by a TD at your place this year and you think that you will beat Somerset for the foreseeable future and that you can beat Danville this year? You're delusional.

  4. I think LCA has just as much speed as Danville. You will be suprised. Danville didn't slow us down last year, and the head coach said LCA is better this year.

This quote proves one of two things: Your intelligence is really low or you're blind.

I would LOVE for LCA to win so the jumpers have a shot at them in round two, I just don't see it happening.

  5. I've said it before in this thread and I'll say it again. LCA is average, Danville is good this year. LCA doesn't have the speed offensively to damage the ads. Danville won't impress you coming off the bus, but when they kickoff watch out!

It pains me to say that about Danville it really does... But they're good. Danville isn't 50 points better than LCA or Somerset this year like some of those classic Harp teams, but they're certainly 2 TDs better than LCA.

  6. He has been saying they should have won from the get go, and saying how average LCA is after losing to them... sounds like lots excuses to me. When that happens I always believe that the better team won. I haven't seen either team so I can't be sure but really sounds like excuses. Neither team had its best player but I see one person making excuses of how they should have won.

LCA is average, as is Somerset, I'll stand by both statements. No excuses, two average football teams played last Friday in a good offensive game and the home team won. I don't see either team as being that much better than the other that one o/d lineman makes it "a lot worse" for the losing team in the case of the Ach kid. He's a great player no doubt, I simply pointed out that Somerset was without two major offensive pieces as well.

In the case of Danville LCA I'll also stand by my statement that LCA isn't nearly the team Danville is this year, it's just a fact. Danville may make it out of the east.

  7. If you are trying to imply that Clay Ach is a thug, you couldn't be more wrong. I would love to see LCA and Somerset play again. I thought it was one of the most entertaining games that I have watched this year.

No. Kids make mistakes. I'm not making any assumptions about the kids personal demeanor, merely facts about players. Clay is probably the best o lineman in the district.

  8. LCA sure had enough speed to damage the bunnies! No one has mentioned that LCA played without Clay Ach who is their best defensive player and starting offensive lineman. He creates a lot of havoc for offenses and things could have been much worse for Somerset had he played.

Somerset played without its best offensive player Doan and without its best offensive/defensive lineman Smallwood.... It's football, part of the game, although ours weren't ejected they were injuries. Could've been much worse for LCA. Hope they meet again, LCA is average.

  9. I dont agree with the comment LCA shouldn't won. Actually should have won by a much large margin. They let penalties extend drives 3 times and bobble a punt that should have just left it alone. LCA should have won by 21.

Penalties are part of the game. Jumpers had a huge one late as well that cost them field position and 2 plays later the nail in the coffin score. As a jumper fan if we didn't have two turnovers it's a 21-14 ball game maybe 28-14 in Somersets favor at halftime... Once again these are all part of the game. High school teams rarely play completely clean, those that do are usually very successful.

As for the poster that said Wheatley will have 150+ he may very well do that but it will be off 53 carries. Danvilles biggest weakness is their secondary play and even that's gotten better.

  10. Pedestrian speed? He runs over you, then past you and then from you. Ask those rabbits what the back of his jersey read....

Volume back. LCA won, probably shouldn't have but did. You'll see speed Friday, and not just out of the backfield. Danville's interior 7 is fast and physical. Lot of respect for the Ads as much as it pains me to say that.

  11. I dont think Danville has faced a back like Wheatley from LCA. We will see just how much defense they got.

Wheatley... He's getting 40 carries a game he's bound to put up numbers. He's a big back with pedestrian speed and decent vision. Sorry, I don't think he'll find much running room on Danville.

  12. Danville 46 Rockcastle 18

    Somerset 21 Rockcastle 20

Danville could have scored 80 in that game. The Ads are going to roll tomorrow night.

Not a totally fair comparison. Had it been a dry night I think Somerset would've put up a ton of points through the air as well. Jumpers beat rock at their own game that night... They took care of the football and had a good (for them) night on the ground. Rain negated the passing game severely.

This game is a much better matchup than most think, Somerset has at least SOME skill kids to match Danville's speed. Doan, Cornett (both) and Hatcher can all run well.

  13. Probably up there since they have turf, no idea of the time yet. I'm sure someone will post date, time and location.

Somerset @ Madison Southern 8/13 (yes Thursday) 6:00 but subject to flexible time due to travel and a school night.

  14. Player rankings are media hype. Kids that do not go to camps, or cannot afford to go to camps are often slighted and may have adequate talent to compete with the "big boys." That being said it is what we have to deal with in the age of social media and a desire for instant feedback. Wish nothing but the best for this young man and congratulations on this honor. It is always good for a kid from Kentucky to be regarded amongst the nations best, and is nothing but good for football in our state.

  15. JR Wr's Cameron Lasley and Shymez Brabson both played well for Adair. JR Qb Chance Melton put the ball in good spots all day. LCA was better in the final game but as Doyle said it was 9-9 at the half before the Indians ran out of gas.

Adair looked like they had some athletes. I'm assuming you mean CAL not LCA?
