  1. My point was...it's tough to talk about it being a negative that a coach may or may not move on from a job before too long when you've got a school willing to listen to parents and run off a head coach with 3 appearances in the state finals within the last 5 years, and 20+ years experience of coaching within the program.

Well you can say it was parents but it wasn't and yes they weren't happy but Dan did it to himself that's for sure.

  2. They are playing at a high level. And you can try to rain on their parade by bashing the coach if you want to, that's your prerogative.

I never said they weren't playing at a high level and I have said several times they are very good. All I am saying is some of there scores could have been controlled and with some teams pressing up 30+ while their starters are in till the 4th quarter is ridiculous. So if that's playing at a high level then good for them sure they are learning something from it.

  3. Correct, you never specifically mentioned the girls. Yet, you said "COACHES WILL REMEMBER THE SCORES" and will proceed to return the favor. Well, who is the recipient of retribution IF that will be possible? The young people take the hit. Why involve the girls? Go Mano e Mano? You, several times have mentioned how "the transfer" improved the team. How about just calling them the Lady Camels?

I'm a very small school fan, so we have had our share of those ugly losses. Just so happens we played another small school last night, I don't remember the score but I know we shot a lot of 3s and we don't have depth. We use 8th grade and freshmen to fill our Varsity bench, so there's only about 5 subs. You can limit the number of shots taken, but you can't tell them to miss. Especially if that young person has never scored a Varsity basket.

One last comment then no more. Everyone always runs to the stats page for KHSAA leaders. I think that also leads to some of these lopsided scores. "Beef up your numbers in this game tonight". I wish steals and assists were on the stats page because SOMEONE has to get the ball to the shooter. But alas I realize that's a gray area.

GOOD LUCK TO THE LADY CAMELS, PRAY FOR NO INJURIES. ENJOY THE RIDE.

Maybe their coach needs to think about the bolded as well because karma is a you know what.

  4. He is more proven than maybe any new hire in the history of the program??? He is like the first hire in 70 years with previous head coaching experience. Where exactly has he coached that he should have achieved more?

Of course you are referring to Eddie and Dan and to me they were proven because they coached in program where they had significant rolls when NCC won State titles. Lickert has even been close to that. Just because someone wasn't a head coach before becoming one doesn't mean they aren't proven.

  5. Let's face it everyone, as usual @Voice of Reason is correct.

Shame on you Jimmy Ryan for going on the record and intentionally misleading everyone about your new football coach.

And Terry Boehmker, that was pathetic...

Was it misleading or just a lie by Jimmy Ryan because my understanding he knew a couple days ago.

CCH boys already knew and NewCath jumped the gun on the hiring of Lickert who is unproven.

  6. So many times I have written a post, only to read thru it and realize I should never have written it and hit cancel. You've pretty much promised future teams of young girls, that YOU will give them a beat down. This IS a very special Campbell County team. Once in a blue moon things just line up and the stars are definitely lined up for these girls. A team such as this DIDN'T JUST HAPPEN. These young ladies have put in a lot of blood, sweat, tears and a ton of hard work. Not to mention the money and time their parents have invested. I have no child or grandchild on this team, but from the compliments these young ladies have received on here. I'd be proud if one of them were. I hope these young ladies can go on to win it all, THEY HAVE SURELY EARNED SUCH A REWARD.

Again I never mention anything bad about the girls. Yes they have a very good team and with the transfer from Scott it really made them special. All I am saying is some of these scores can be controlled.

  7. No one has said anything about the players, they are great girls I know some of them. You all can twist it how you want and don't give me it will help them get better because pressing and winning by that much doesn't make you get better or makes you work on things, really. I don't care what school it is I coach can control most of the scoring. So your telling me that CCH only scored 7 points the whole second half and how did they accomplish that. I bet it wasn't because they shot bad.

  8. You have a team that could possibly make a run at state. So what are you suppose to do? Okay, girls turn it off tonight, we are playing a team that's having a down year. Okay girls tougher teams the next few nights you have to step it up. We have another down team tonight girls, don't worry about playing real hard tonight, because our next few games will be tough and you have to be at you best for those games......... I remember Brossart putting some beat downs on Silver Grove, NCC beat down on Dayton, Jenkins back to back beat downs on Cordia....... I gets lopsided sometimes. It's part of it, sometimes you're the bug, sometimes you're the windshield. You can't ask a team to turn it on or turn it off according to who they are playing and expect them to preform when needed. Like it or not, it just doesn't work that way.

Are you serious, no one said they had to tone it down and not play hard but when your up 30 and still pressing with your starters yeah that's ridiculous and if you think that's ok then I so be it. Now a days with a running clock you have to try and score to get those ridiculous numbers, for example scoring a 111 points in a girls game with a running clock.

We preach good sportsmanship and respect for other teams and players and beating teams like that IMO isn't but if people on here believe it is that's fine you have that right.

  9. I will update this soon, but it is in flux. Bylaw 6 has always governed "domestic" transfers, and it provides that a student that transfers schools is automatically ineligible for a year unless they meet any of the exceptions under Section 2 of the bylaw, which includes those that have a "bona fide" change of address that predates the transfer and is not athletically motivated.

However, the DUE PROCESS PROCEDURE used by the KHSAA gives the Commissioner sweeping authority to waive Bylaw 6, or other bylaws, if their enforcement would be "unfair" because the "circumstances creating the ineligibility were clearly beyond the control of the parties." All a bunch of legal-speak, to be sure, but the Commissioner has used this authority a lot in the past, although exactly when and to what extent is unknown because the KHSAA will not release those records. It has only recently been made of record that waivers have been granted for economic hardship (i.e. loss of a job, inability to pay tuition), educational opportunity not available at one school that are available at another, bullying, the use of racial slurs and sexual misconduct.

So the problem should be fairly evident. The Commissioner has broad discretion to declare students eligible who would not otherwise be, and he has used this discretion in the past. And I believe that anyone who meets the standards that have been established is entitled to "equal protection", that the same rules have to be uniformly applied. The KHSAA disagrees and does not believe the Commissioner's discretion can be challenged. In the Devon Cooper case in Louisville, the court declared that the Commissioner was not interpreting what is "beyond the control" properly and ruled Cooper eligible, overturning the KHSAA interpretation.

The rules are in flux because the Commissioner's discretion, and adherence to his own prior decisions, is a murky mess.

In these situation they (Houston's and Macke's) should sit out. I hate it for the kids but something has to be done about these transfers.

  10. I find it very hard to believe the bishop has approved a Brossart sports complex and an Ncc football complex to both be built at same time. You talk about a lot of money at the same time. I would be shocked. But if this is true what is this thread even about when do they break ground? 2 schools with total enrollement of less than 600 combined building million dollar facilites at same time. Very risky.

Its coming from a private donor and will not cost the diocese a dime.
