  1. Just an interesting stat that I thought I would share with this thread: Prior to Saturday night, Trinity had not allowed 3 goals to a team in the state of Kentucky since September, 28th 2011 to St. Xavier.
  2. I see this game ending 4-1. South Oldham is a very solid team, and they have lots of talent. However, they don't have enough players who can really thin out Scott's defense and create scoring opportunities. Just to give everyone an idea of how good Scott's offense really is: Prior to Saturday night, Trinity hadn't given 3 goals to a team in Kentucky since September 28th 2011. The trio of Morgan, Schneider and Treadway give the Eagles the best offense in the state.
  3. Boyle County has a SOLID offense. There defense, however, has given up 38 goals on the season which is one of the worst among teams remaining in the post season. Not many NKY soccer fans know much about Boyle, but this is a huge test for Scott's defense tonight as this will more than likely be the best offensive team that Scott has faced all year. Boyle lost to Woodford County (Maher rank 9th) in the regular season with a final score of 5-7. This will be a high scoring game, but if Scott's defense can withstand the high power attack of Boyle, it will be a one sided scoreline.
  4. I looked on KHSAA and didn't find much help. All I found was the expected, "the site must fit all state tournament requirements."
  5. One of the highest scoring teams in the state this year (MoCo.) didn't score a single goal in the regional tournament. I don't think Scott's defense ever gets the credit they should. In the one loss that Scott has in regulation, they played an entire half without their defensive leader, Evans. When the 3 senior backs for Scott are on the same page and play together, they are a tough wall to break. Especially with one of the best keepers in the state playing behind them. "Defense wins championships"
  6. This game could have easily finished early with a 10-0 score line. Not sure if any MoCo. players or coaches stayed to watch this game, but the Scott players did spectate the Brossart - MoCo. match before hand. It will turn out to be a fun match to watch on Saturday, regardless of the final score.
  7. The second kick was also blocked by Paulin. Had the 2nd kick gone in, as you stated, it would have counted as a goal even with the keeper's encroachment (I believe).
  8. Not calling you out. Now I know that you support a 10th region team. That would be a rough 2 hour drive to sit in the cold and watch a team from the 12th region. Neither team will know much about each other, unless it is a MoCo-Mercer Co. match up. It will be a fun match-up to watch if Brossart or Scott know very little about Mercer Co, the likely 12th region winner.
  9. Then that means it will happen if the Region 10 finals are at 5pm or 6pm? Region 9 finals are at 8pm...
  10. Brossart's keeper kept the Mustangs in this game. Although both teams are very talented, without the play from Paulin, this Game would have been 4-1. I counted at least 3 one-on-one saves. One breakaway from Schneider, a blocked shot from Treadway after beating 3 defenders, and an attempted chip from Morgan (may seem fancy considering it was a 1v1, but the angle that Morgan had and the distance that Paulin came off his line, it was a smart shot). Paulin's save on Morgan was probably the save of the game for him. A pure reaction save. His hands were by his side expecting a shot along the turf, but when Morgan put the ball over Paulin's head, he reacted faster than maybe any keeper in the area to pluck it out of the air while off balance. Seay, Scott's keeper made his save of the game on a free kick by Henn. I had the perfect angle; directly behind the kicker and the goal. Henn's shot was a knuckling ball that swerved to the near post that would have slipped into the lower corner without the tip from Seay, utilizing his wingspan. Keeper play was outstanding from both teams, and will be needed again when facing the high scoring attack of MoCo.
