Nice bounce-back win for the Pandas after two tough losses. Some may consider this an upset win for NDA, but the last 6 meetings between NDA and NCC are split 3-3.
-
I like the reference only 3% of BPG popu;action will get.
3%? More like 75%! Willing to bet a McRib that 75% of the people on here are 45+, and 90% are technically obese.

NCC Senior Mikah Freppon verbal commits to D2 Lewis University in the GLVC

Amy Flaugher, class of 1978 at Bracken County. Flaugher ranks No. 1 in Norse women's basketball history in free-throw percentage (.819) and No. 2 in assists (466). She also scored 791 career points and helped NKU win at least 20 games three times. As a pitcher on the slow-pitch softball team, Flaugher posted a 22-2 regular-season record as a sophomore.
Not a D1 player since NKU was D2 at the time.

Has anyone considered maybe this is the future for Highlands football? Other programs have stepped up their game. Population shifts are pumping more talent into other districts. Fort Thomas is aging out. Maybe playing football at Highlands isn't as big of a priority as it used to be. There are other options.

Must have been too many changes in Athletic Directors for this group of Pandas to overcome. Right @dallaslaredo ???
apparently the vultures have been waiting several years to show up after an NDA loss

Good discussion, which is now evolving into one of competitive advantage. Soccer and volleyball are highly technical. Unlike football, track and to a lesser extent basketball, you can't simply win by having superior athletes. Proper training outside of the high school season for an additional 6-8 months in a club environment becomes more critical to success. These sports have a "pay to play" model.
Ultimately success and competitive imbalance becomes a product of school demographics. There aren't many schools outside of the 3 metro areas in KY, loaded with kids who have parents willing or capable of spending the thousands of dollars on training. Private schools and large public schools in more affluent zip codes have a massive advantage. That's not easy to fix, its not a matter of simple enrollment numbers.
There is no fix. Everyone thinks classes are a fix. All that means then is that the smaller private schools in populated areas will win the small school division, and everything else will remain the same. I suppose KHSAA could do what OHSAA does and limit the number of players from the same club team that can be on a high school team, but honestly that hasn't really changed who wins in Ohio - plus they have like 4 classes I think.
The KHSAA probably feels they can't fix the demographics, so they figure they will at least cover geography.
And who made basketball special? classes for all sports or none.
But I would find a way to get the Region winner and runner-up to State across the board. Too many good teams in deep Regions being left behind in both soccer and volleyball, while the winner of Region 1 or 15 goes out and loses 10-0.

Yes. A fluke final that has happened once in the 25 year history of the event should define whether the sport is classed. Makes total sense.
and a fluke that's only happened in soccer. Volleyball is even more limited - only the same 4 schools have won the title the last 35 years. think about that...35 years, and the title has bounced back and forth between only 4 schools...all while volleyball has grown to become the #1 girls sport in Kentucky. The gap is incredible.

I will be surprised if Saturday isn't a 10-0 game. Expect a state final of NDA vs. SHA
was going to post the exact same thing
-
every quarterfinal game was a 3-0 sweep...is the separation between the top team and others really that large?
-
1-1 at half. Big 2nd half propels Pandas to huge road win at Lex Cath. Play Corbin this Saturday in State Quarterfinal, site TBD. Like I stated earlier, that Dixie loss came at a perfect time and it refocused NDA. On an impressive 7 game win streak since that loss - 3 GA, 37 GF.

It's up to their supporters to let us know the news as this site and its content are driven by its users!
True, but this is not a news site. People who give game reports think they're journalists, but they're not - journalists are inherently unbiased and reports on here are usually clouded by bias, one way or the other. And then people will state they are specifically tougher on their own teams in their reports than someone who is unbiased, which again proves my point - they are not delivering an accurate report, but a biased one.
I believe the scores posted. Anything else needs to be considered opinion.

Volleyball is the most popular girls sport in KY, according to the KHSAA

Let me help you out.... Notre Dame swimming.
Is it really that amazing? What does turnover in Athletic Director's have to do with success?
In this case, nothing changed. But I think bringing in great coaches and promoting a positive culture can make a big difference at any school. Wouldn't that start with the AD?
yes, swimming - I just looked that up. amazing record.

Not accurate information regarding NDA region 9 titles won in a row.
I was going by what I saw on KHSAA, or thought I saw. You are more familiar with the situation than I am. Request a moderator to change it.

top- Monday 10/23
Highlands v Dixie
NDA v Cooper
bottom- Tuesday 10/24
Ryle v Beechwood
St. Henry vs NCC
Semi's 10/25
Final 10/26
NDA going for 11th straight Region 9 title is amazing. That's 2 Athletic Directors, 3 different Head Coaches and almost 3 complete (frosh>sr) classes turning over. Can't think of another sport or school with that turnover and those results.
-
and by virture of that loss, NCC draws St. Henry in first round at Regional. Ouch. At least Highlands gets Dixie, a team they split with, in the first round - with winner facing NDA (presumably)
-
NDA with the dominating win.
-
That would seem to be a good State draw for the Region 9 winner

I was making more of a general point about BGP across all forums...not a lot of pro-NDA posters on BGP across all forums, which means it's mostly "fans" of other schools. News Flash: NDA wins a lot in many sports. So maybe pro-NDA people don't feel a need to post, it's not like NDA doesn't get noticed. NDA sports in general have a huge target on their back in NKY. It's the one team everyone wants to beat. When NDA loses, it's been my experience that it gets posted really quick.
-
Pandas win. The Dixie loss was perfect to refocus the team.

Versus first 5 weeks of 2016, ESPN/Monday Night Football up 6%, CBS up 6%, FOX and NBC/Sunday Night Football both report up.

Whatever happened to free speech? I don't see the outpouring of support for her on the free speech front. Goes to show, the freedom of speech does have consequences.
I'm always surprised by people who don't understand the First Amendment.. Freedom of Speech refers to speaking out against the Government, the right to protest and assemble, that sort of thing (NFL players for example) It DOES NOT mean you can say/post/write anything you want while working at a private business. If a Wal-Mart greeter told everyone to go to hell as they entered the store, they would be fired. They are not protected by the First Amendment.

This is funny because without 2 starters NCC lost to NDA 2-1 with NCC going into halftime with the lead. NDA second could have been called off sides and this came from an NDA parent who was on that side of the field. All in all it was a great game and both teams looked evenly matched. NCC not having 2 starters hurt them and I am not saying that the out come would have been different but who knows.
I don't know what's funny or not, just relaying the history of the series, which shows a complete dominance by NDA. It's now 11 in a row and outscored 36-8. And NDA has had some major season ending injuries to first team all-stars of their own during that 11-0 run. So I don't worry about how teams look, or what calls were not made, or who is hurt - I just look at the scores.

I doubt NDA prioritizes any sport above another. It's about what sports the parents and students choose to put above basketball. NDA's tradition in Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Swimming, and Volleyball is unmatched. And softball has been turned around too. NDA has the athletes, they just choose other sports.
