I think it's safe to say that Martels will be used much much more than he was last year.

Is it your understanding that PT is trying to get out of a game (or two) to schedule some better competition?
No, I do not have any inside information. Wish I did. Hopefully some of the teams on the schedule will have a better-than-expected season and PT can have some competition.

Does anyone know what kind of penalty teams have for canceling a contract? Seems like PT wouldn't mind having to pay to find a better team. I know they've cancelled basketball games in the past for a variety of reasons, not sure how football would be different.

I know they don't get any points for it, but Henry County, TN is a tough opponent. Or maybe some of the Nashville teams we used to play. Surely with Carter getting national attention they could find somebody worthwhile somewhere. LOL

Who agrees with me that Tilghman needs to schedule LCA and Bowling Green next season? Both are supposed to be loaded, so it would be a huge test for the Blue.

Tilghman seems to be in a free fall right now. They normally don't lose four games in a row. They've all been pretty close, but something isn't right. Maybe a lineup change?

I don't expect a blow out by either team. Tilghman has corrected a lot of the early-season mistakes they kept making, so they have really improved a lot as the season moved forward. I've seen them a lot this season and they look really tuned-up to keep moving forward.

Hopefully the guys continue to dominate, but after this game it won't be easy at all. We have a poor history against Cov. Catholic. Hopefully that will change this year.

I just hope PT keeps their head out of the clouds and concentrates on things. Things might seem easy of late but they don't want to wake up when it's too late.

Tilghman has a history of holding the score down, or at least when I was there in the mid 80's. Could be that the PT JV is good enough to do the damage we see in the final score.

I was thinking earlier in the season that Carter may not put up the same numbers he did last year, but at the rate he’s been going the last couple of games, plus the playoffs, he might do it. And that’s considering he’s not the only receiver.

I worked with a guy that was an official in Ohio for over 20 years. He told me one day that most of the time it is what an official "thinks" or "believes" happened. He said that there may be a definition for something, but it's up to the official to make the determination. He went on to say that many times officials could not agree on a holding call. Not sure if his views are the majority, but he is the only high school football official that I have talked to on a one on one basis.

Hunter Cantwell, although for a very, very short time, was signed to the Carolina Panthers active roster after spending all his time on the practice squad prior.
I believe Corey Robinson from Lone Oak had a short stint with a practice squad. I don't remember the team.

Found this site a few weeks ago that lists all the high schools with players that have played in the NFL. Tilghman is tied with Highlands for 8th in Kentucky with 5. What I find interesting is that some of the more prominent programs in the State don't have very many players that move on beyond high school. Mayfield has only one guy and that was in 1926. Tilghman may fall short in state titles, but they do a very good job moving players on beyond high school.

It would be nice to see the Bulldogs get something going.

Is it true though? Obviously someone had to fact check it. Dobyns-Bennett in Kingsport TN shows 812 (No 18) varsity football wins & 2336 (No 1) varsity boys basketball win. Is that incorrect? 🤷🏻♂️
Looks like you are correct. Maybe whoever wrote the quotes meant to say "in the State"?

Rider made a big difference when he was in a game.

The Paducah Tilghman team from 2003. They lost in the state semis to Boyle County 35-21. Tilghman finished the season with a record of 13-1 while averaging 42pts per game and allowing only 11. This team had Hunter Cantwell, who ended up at Louisville and spent a few years on a practice squad in the NFL, and is now the head coach of LCA. Joe Casey was an All American before he decided to leave school right after the loss to Boyle.

Next up for Tilghman is Warren Central.

The Mayfield, Henderson and Hopkinsville stretch will be tough.

He came on 2 weeks before the season started so the coach brought him on gradually. You don't change things on a dime just because of one guy. His stats from last year aren't as good as his previous year because he wasn't the only guy in town.
