I agree, he is very dynamic.  He's a game changer and has been fun to watch over the last few years.  They moved him to free safety this year and along with Yowan, Colemire, Cusack, Savage and Belk they have playmakers all over their defense.

He was fun to watch in the spring as well. He will be the one to watch in hurdles and high jump the next couple years.

If you don't teach young kids to love, or even just like, the game, whatever game you're coaching, then the rest is just fluff.   And while you might disagree, "winning" has very little to do with loving the game.  In my opinion, it is misguided to believe winning is the only criteria for success as a young player and that factor, in and of itself, is what really causes kids to quit any sport.  Do you play to win?  Absolutely.  Every time, because that teaches the spirit of competition.  But if winning becomes the sole reason for participation, then disappointment, frustration and ultimately quitting end up being the result for many, if not most.  OR, you develop a culture of elitism that, if not properly guided and managed, creates a negative experience for even more players.  You compete to win.  But you teach to compete and handle whatever comes with that.  Just my opinion.

    Very well said.

  3. I personally got into coaching to just be involved and loved the development of kids primarily in elementary school. Were all the kids stellar athletes, of course not but they all seem to have the desire to learn so as a coach you need to teach them.

Local Northern Ky School Player is apparently not allowed to Walk during his Senior night because he is suspended for two games (senior night is one of them). He was having a bad game and was replaced. As any good coach would do. Instead of being a senior leader he took his helmet, his equipment and jersey off walked out of the game while running his mouth.

my question for discussion is how do school handle situations like this? In my opinion he would never be allowed back on the team. As a player I always would get mad at my team mates who would throw their helmet, heck I would call them out for sitting on them.

    let’s discuss!

Wow! I agree that a team player would support his team and work to make his next game better than the last which should be your goal anyway. I can't even imagine any of the kids my boys played with doing something like that.
