  1. The problem with most people on this site is that they do not believe that there are any football teams west of I-65 not named Bowling Green or Mayfield, and BG is maybe 2 miles from that border. Caldwell County is playing the schedule that they have in front of them. They had contracts with a lot of those schools for return games and other schools would not play Caldwell County, as they did not want what happened to John Hardin and Warren Central by DeSales, to happen to them. Fort Campbell is a strong opponent most years, Green County is a top 10 team in 2A, and Murray High is never a cupcake, but any team that has very little or no passing game will be beat up by Caldwell County's stronger than expected defense, and then that team's defense had best be strong, fast, and tall in order to not be put on a running clock by these young Tigers. The Tigers of Caldwell County deserve to be ranked in the top 20 in the state, if not the top 15, right now as they have done nothing but back up their preseason hype.

  2. Question...

Everyone knew Caldwell was going to have a stellar crop of young talent coming up, and then even more they knew Caldwell was going to be really good following last season.

Is it just me or is it a little confusing to see them play such weak Non-District Games? I am good with Christian County, Ft. Campbell, and Mayfield... but those other games leave a lot to be desired for a team in Caldwell's position:

    - Trying to close the gap on a dominant 2A Program

    - Trying to showcase Sindelair as an elite college prospect knowing the knock on KY small school competition

    - Trying to take their program to the next level as one of the short list of "elite" teams

I did not see a question in there anywhere but to answer your statement, a LOT of the bigger schools do not want to play a good small school. I am sure the Tigers would have gladly played Trinity this year, but the Rocks did not want to be bit by the Tigers. lol :jump:

  3. From Caldwell County's 1st play from scrimmage, a Jaylen Boyd 27 yd run to paydirt, the visiting Tigers had the game in hand. There was a running clock from 7:23 to go in the 2nd quarter on, and at that point Coach Barnes pulled his horses out of the game. Going so far as to take a knee on the PAT when the score was 55-0. Elijah Sindelar had a good quarter and 4 mimutes of work, going 11 of 14 for 179 yds, 2 TDs passing and 1 TD rushing. Jaylen Boyd only had 3 carries for 71 yds. What may have been the play of the night was when Ohio County's kickoff returner broke a long return, with only kicker Brett Seymore to beat, and Seymore hit the return man and stripped the ball, forcing a fumble that Caldwell County recovered.Caldwell County had 380 yds in the 1st half, but was held back by starting most poscesions in Ohio County territory. All of Ohio County's 4 TDs were against the Tiger freshman team's defense, while Ohio County left their 1st string in the whole game. Not a real classy move.

  4. Calls 2A #1, Caldwell County, is headed into a matchup of unbeatens at Class 5A Ohio County tonight. For Caldwell County, star quarterback, Elijah Sindelar, has yet to jell with his stable of receivers so far. Much of the load has been carried by the running backs, Jaylen Boyd and JaMichael Ellis, with Boyd doing most of the dirty work. The passing game has been there just enough to open up the running lanes for Boyd. The defense has given up 22 and 20 points in the the 1st 2 weeks, but a lot of that has been in the late going, after the game is way past decided. Running against these Tigers is going to be hard for anyone. They play a whole different platoon on defense, so they have been fresh late in the games, turning their opponents over 5 times in each of the 1st 2 games. All I have to say is once Sindelar does jell with his receivers, WATCH OUT! The Tigers have scored 45 and 57 without much of a passing game. Good luck to all who play this week. Stay safe everyone!

  5. Scary thing about Caldwell is, I didn't think they played very well offensively against Union County, especially in the passing game, and still scored 57 points and rolled up 560 yards of offense.

Caldwell also had a punt return and a kickoff return for touchdowns called back by penalties in that game.

It will be interesting to see what the Tigers can do when they put it all together. Right now, they're still looking for a couple of receivers to step up and they need to solidify some spots in the secondary.

But maybe I'm just being picky.:lol2:

    Yeah, what he said! lol
