  1. I agree 100% I wouldn't change a thing we have done over the past 8 years even if I knew there would be no scholly involved. But it sure is nice when it does pay off.
  2. Ok let's try 2nd, first didn't go all that well. Fell free to rate them or just mention a girl you feel is deserving. Hannah Tupman, senior HC. Hannah has turned her self into a nice player. Hannah never played a game before starting HS and plays 3 sports at HC so she doesn't have a lot of time to spend on softball. I think she plays to spend time with some friends and in the mean time has helped the team. Hannah is trying to play soccer in college and I wish her the best. Please list some more bc I am not familer with any.
  3. Yeah I think Maddy had to fly 4 or 5 times last year and that's not counting one of the trips we drove that was 12 hours. Crazy but nothing better in my eyes.
  4. Was looking at numbers from the NFCA camp held at the Ohio stingrays tourney last summer. Looks like your catchers numbers stack up real well against the girls who attended. https://nfca.org/index.php/recruiting-camps/2012-recruiting-camp-results/4859-stingrays-pop-to-pop
  5. Well it sure seems like it is paying off for your friend by hitting those camps. Luckly my kid can't get enough of it and is willing to travel just about anywhere to play with her team and friends. I have to let her drive to Chicago once by her self but during the winter its just to much bc of the weather. Of course her new thing lately is wanting to take the Megabus, I have not broke down and let her yet.
  6. Man didn't you get your feeling hurt when I said I wasn't sure if your kid was Texas good then you come on here and say a pitcher is ok and most the pitchers in the GMC are better. I don't know most kids in the GMC but I do know a couple and I would say Haylee is very close to most of them and better than at least 1 that I know of. The GMC is the best conf in the tristate and its no secert that the cincy schools for the most part are ahead of the NKY schools
  7. For almost the last 2 years we have been traveling to Chicago for practice. We do not make all of them but we make our share. Today was the last or one of the last trips we will make. 660 miles round trip, so I ask the question what is an acceptable distance to travel for softball. I am guessing 660 is high for most but it has been a great time I know I have enjoyded the heck out of it and I can safely say I believe my daughter has as well.

  9. My guess is it was more than a camp. I have been lucky enough to know a ton of girls playing D1 or going to play D1 and not one of them got an offer from just attending a camp. Maybe at other levels but not the D1 level.
  10. I know what you are saying and for years she did play other positions bc her sister was a quality cather. IMO cather is the second most important positon behind pitcher so you want to be strong back there. If HC had another quality catcher I would be all for having her play another position. The girl that caught the majority of the innings last season can not play another positon and at a school that had any type of tryout or if she didn't have a family member as a coach I can't picture a situation where she would make a JV team much less be the starting catcher for varsity.
  11. I have always heard that but for some reason never saw her play in HS or in the Summer. I can tell you the Cincy Doom is filling out the Bowling Green roster. I am not sure if that is how she got her deal but I know she did spend some time with them.
  12. Give us some more LB, who are some of the ones that stood out to you while you were doing a very fine job at keeping the book for NCC!
  13. Dude, I clearly stated in both posts I haven't seen her. Ok is Spencer top 5? Again I haven't seen her either, I am confussed now is she great or very good or very good for the 9th region. I will leave the comment about me knowing everything alone bc I don't want to embarrass you.
  14. Maybe we shouldn't exclude the rest of our neighbors so feel free to chime in for all of NKY. Again this is to promote all the girls so it doesn't have to be the best of the best to be mentioned. Kristen Stanly, junior HC....Kristen has some pop in her bat and is alot of fun I saw NDA 1st baseman last season a couple of times and she was hitting the ball really well.
  15. No clue about those times....is that her pop time if so it sounds really good.
  16. UK wins again beating #16 Washington, I think if the season ended today Coach Lawson could be coach of the year and Junior pitcher Lauren Cumbess could very well be National player of the year.
  17. Man remind me to not say anything about HHS, I would hate to lose my street cred! I agree with History here, HHS has not been very good, will they be better this year I would guess so but the facts are they haven't been. Their schedule is fine but you have to beat the Boone County schools a couple times and maybe beat Miss Smith at NDA to be consider good. Win a couple of games against the top teams and we will come back and say you guys are good. I love what HHS is doing but you have to earn your respect first before declaring that you are good. And while we are talking about "street cred" are you sure Newports pitcher is great? (I have never seen her) I would consider Kirsten Allen from Ryle several years ago great, I am not sure we have had many real good pitchers since much less great.
  18. If you had to guess LB how hard does this young lady throw. If she is 63 to 65 mph plus (that's what I would consider a cannon) and a quality catcher she would be D1 type material. We have a catcher in the Bandit org (Miranda Calvin) who is going to Ok St she has by far the best arm I have seen. My kid has a well above avg arm and I am for sure she throws alot harder from her knees than Maddy can standing up. She is real fun to watch.
  19. If that is the case she must be REALLY good to be that young. What's her name?
  20. Tend to agree but in softball now a days everyone wants the big bat so they will play. If you have a couple slow girls you have to play a couple somewhere. All things equal I would rather have a slow catcher than a slow 3B or 1B
  21. Sounds like a good list so far. Will give me something to look out for at games!! Unfortunately even though my kid has been playing for many years in HS I don't really know to many kids exp by name so it will be fun to watch. No Herrman has not played travel ball since 14U and last played HS part time her sophomore, that being said I have very little doubt that she won't either be the top catcher in the area or one of the top. I guess until she shows up at practice there is a chance she doesn't play. I know she was trying to play college soccer some where so that could possible keep her from playing.
  22. Since Clyde started one about the pitchers lets go around the horn and rate every position, maybe we can do 1 or 2 a day. Also the pitchers get all the pub!! A little twist so we get more players names out there, if you mention one from your team or school you have to mention one from another school that way more girls are being named. Grace Herrman, senior Holy Cross. Grace is one of the better athletes playing softball. She understands the game and receives the ball really well. She has a good arm and should be one of the top hitters in the area. Now lets hope she catches. Brooke Garrett, Junior (i think) Dixie. Brooke is also a very good athlete, and has a very strong arm. Brooke has been playing softball for a long time and I would think will be one of Dixie's better hitters.
