  1. 1) I'm anxious to see how the Somerset/Hazard game turns out.. The Jumpers D is playing well right now. The question in this one, is will they find enough O to beat a tough, high scoring team. Will give the powers in 1a a good barameter of where they stand..

    2) The LCA/Lex.Cath. game should tell us a lot about both teams. Can LCA's high powered O keep up there usual scoring pace against a team that just shut out last years 6a runner ups? How will there D hold up against a strong dual threat offense? Big challenge for both teams.

    3) CAL/ETown should be a good one. CALs D has been it's calling card all year, but, they haven't faced as potent an offense as the Panthers possess. ETown needs a game like this to push there team over the hump, imo. Could a win push them to #1 in 3a?

Glasgow/ACS should tell us if the Scotties are for real or not.. ACS needs a win vs a quality opponent to get a little respect in 4a and solidify a Top 10 ranking..

Mayfield/McCracken Co could be a good one. You can bet the Stangs won't sit 1/2 there starters this week and when all hands are on board, they can be a formidable opponent. They certainly have some athletes/talent to make this one closer than most think, but, the Cardinals may just be that good and pull away in this one..

  2. Since Mayfield went on that run beginning in 2009 thru 2015, I believe they could have won it all in 2a as well as 1a with a couple of exceptions, maybe.. The one year that Desales won it(2013 maybe?) and the year Ft Campbell won it(2009).. In those 2 years, we would have been underdogs.. The other years we'd have been the favorite or, at least, even odds.. In saying that, yes, 2A is a different animal.. Better quality teams in the early rounds and teams with 5a and 6a talent in the late rounds.. The thing is, though, I feel Mayfield has adjusted and stepped it's game up a notch or 2 and are playing at a little higher level to compensate for that higher competition level.. I think the coaches and players enjoy that underdog role and love the challenge of it..

  3. A dominating performance over a very good Tilghman team.. Mayfield's OL took over the game in the 2nd half.. The Cards mixed it up well with the pass and run and the D played outstanding again.. Tilghman still lacking depth, but, played hard and disciplined football, just ran into a buzz saw tonight in the Cardinals.. This Cardinal team has offensive weapons all over the field and a big, experienced line to boot.. Tough combination to handle.. Throw in a fast and aggressive D and this team's going to be hard to beat..

  4. This ol game just ain't what it used to be.

No it isn't, but, in listening to Vince and David on the radio, they're speaking highly of Tilghman's team.. Seem to be much more disciplined and they have a couple of big time running backs and a quick defense, but, Mayfield's just playing lights out right now like a fine tuned machine..
