Former Lady Engineer head coach, Shirley Beard is now back at Estill County, set to lead the Lady Engineers softball program. 

Bombshell. Didn’t see this one coming open at all especially with the season just two months away. 

What has happened to Johnson Central? I remember when they use to be near the top on they’re region year in and year out.

I think that would be an awesome hire. Had success at Powell. Even beat Estill a time or two if I’m not mistaken. But would he want the job or even be interested?

If I’m not mistaken, he had winning seasons in each of his years at Estill and even beat Rockcastle. 
 

As a die hard Engineer fan that I am, I just do not see them competing with Bell, Belfry or any of the big powerhouse programs and in order to beat those teams or even keep it close, you better have your air raid ready!

The Bobcats picked up a very impressive win this week, defeating Perry County Central Commodores on their own home court, 79-64. Austin Sperry led the Bobcats with 25 in the win

Hazard picked up two district wins last week, defeating Perry County Central 56-40 and Leslie County 48-35

Knott Central picked up two district wins this past week, defeating Cordia 74-43 and Letcher County Central 46-43

The Commodores are still struggling  they did pick up a win last week, defeating Paintsville 63-50 but in the process, they suffered two losses, Hazard 56-40 and Breathitt County 79-64.

5) Letcher County Central (7-7):

Cougars lost they’re only game of the week and it happened to be a district game, falling 46-43 to Knott County Central.

6) Wolfe County (7-6):

Wolfe County edges out Owsley County 69-63 last week.

Powell County got crushed in their only game of the week, falling to Mason County 99-57 in the KY 2A Section 6 tournament.

The Engineers prevailed in another district game this past week, defeating Lee County 76-61.

The Bobcats would make the trip to Owensboro to play in the Southwire Holiday Classic. They would cruse past Muhlenberg County 70-51 but would fall to McLean County 75-72.

4) Perry County Central (7-6):

The Commodores have hit a snowball as they have dropped their last 5 games including all 3 games this past weekend in Wesley Chapel FL. Somerset Academy FL 68-65, Miami Country Day 81-68, St. Cloud FL 64-60 in overtime.

Wolves would make the trip to Irvine to participate in the Engineers Railroad classic. They would fall on their opening game to Covington Holy Cross 73-61. They would defeat Magoffin County 82-68 in the consolation Bracket and would go on to face Russell in the consolation final where they would fall to the Red Devils 69-57, finishing 6th in the tournament.

7) Powell County (5-6):

The Pirates went 2-1 in the chain rock classic at Pineville. The Pirates would defeat both Raceland 77-51 and Somerset 66-63 before falling to Pineville 84-73 in the championship.

8 ) Estill County (7-5):

The Engineers finished 8th in their own tournament this past week, losing two of them on heart breakers. They would fall to Lafayette 68-67 on Thurs. Russell 65-57 on Friday and Magoffin County 66-65 on Saturday.

The Bobcats won 3 games in they’re own tournament this past weekend, defeating Francis Parker 74-73, Cordia 75-24 and Oneida Baptist Institute 87-83 in double overtime.

The Eagles went 2-1 this past weekend in the Ray Zellar tournament at Whitfield Acadmey, picking up wins over Villa Madonna 47-38, Eminence 55-33 before falling to Trinity Christian 46-44.
