It doesn't matter whether they show up or not, that's where it will be.

If the average attendance for the next 3 years exceeds Holmes capacity they won’t be able to have it there. (I don’t remember the exact numbers, but Holmes was already close to under…)

But If this year ranks the average? We’ll be back in Covington.

If they want to avoid this again, the 10th region faithful will pack the place out, and then pack out the next 2 tournaments as well.

They still use the original scoreboards. They can’t do anything else with the floor since it has been sanded down so many times. They once had to wheel in speakers from the band to announce the game and they once had to cancel a game cause the main goal wouldn’t come down…and most recently one of the side goals wouldn’t go up so it hindered people’s views.

visiting team locker room is way too small

    Scott gym needs major TLC

Agree. They have let that gym fall apart. There has been no improvements this century.

That’s great that all sports can use it and I realize that.  However, the primary beneficiary is still football.  Football gets to play on a new turf, softball/baseball can practice on it when it rains or during the winter, of course if football isn’t using it first.  But Mason County softball has been around almost 50 years and does not have their own field to play GAMES.  It sends a bad message spending $1 million on football turf when a softball field could be built for 20-30% of that.  I’m glad they will have turf, but I think they should do that after they have a softball field.

There is not space on the property for a proper softball field. They’d have to buy or extensively renovate land for it. Now we’re over $1million.  And that only benefits one team.

Wow! Imagine a "wildcat walkout" players strike at about 3pm on the day of the national semifinals! Or even more dramatic, the weekend of all the conference championships or big rivalry weekend. Be interesting to see how NIL agreements would be affected by "non-performance".

National semifinals shouldn't be a big deal. Season is usually over by that day anyway.

Not tremendously but they are getting four really good football programs. That might be enough to keep their status as an "Autonomy 5" conference which plays a major role in setting up the playoffs. Also, I'm guessing the other four leagues are more than happy to see BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati, and Houston go to the Big 12 because it means they won't be asked about adding them in realignment.

When one of them four or one of the ones remaining is your best football program kinda hard to demand a permanent seat at the big boy table.

I would think if the district wanted to keep Coach Carver they would find him a position in the district. Always the easiest way for a district to go in a different direction by saying their job was cut. Districts have and should protect good coaches!! A lot of turnover in coaching positions in Brooksville.

They’ve found jobs for the last two basketball coaches. But haven’t managed to find a job for a coach who wants to be there and wants to coach football.

The proof is in the pudding at Bracken County High School.

They don't care about football there.

This is accurate. They’ve now let two coaches go in a row for non football reasons, and every other team has seen significant upgrades in their facilities since 2010 while football has seen nothing.

Football is an afterthought for most of the administration and all of the community. Sad.

I think assistant coaches is going to be the biggest issue with the delay in hiring a HC.  Granted some of these assistant coaches might not have been a pick of the litter type of person for the incoming coach to grab but at least they would have been part of the supply to interview and either say yes or no.  Now with a lot of these guys gone, where is the staff going to be pulled from?  Will good assistant coaches be willing to jump from their current assistant coach positions to move over to Highlands?  I think this is setting up to be a recipe for disaster.....2 things are going to happen:  Either we are going to make so many enemies poaching coaches off of other schools staff (which by the way doesn't bother me) or we pick some already unemployed/retired assistant coaches off the street.  Fun times!

    GO BIRDS!!!

It’s NKY. There’s plenty of coaches that will teach in one district and coach in another. Especially to coach the Bluebirds.

I have always been one of the most optimistic people on this site, and I didn’t think there was a chance of this happening. With that said it was amazing watching the game tonight and the energy they played with.

This win also probably means Taylor is back. He is always talking about building a winning culture. Wins like this go a long way to doing that, so hopefully they can show that they can build off of this.

If last night means Taylor is back then I wish last night wouldn't have happened.
