  1. NDA, Manual, Anderson and Green Counties should be ranked...I think it's early, and you have some coaches still voting on last year's info and name recognition and little else in some cases....it's good to see the shame campaign has gotten a couple more coaches from the 9th involved with the KSCA so the players can get some deserved recognition, but 6 out of 19 is still low...let the Pandas and Rebels roam west a little and get into some of the better tournaments...I know Ryle is still the "name" many think of from the 9th, and they'll be at Greenwood's tourney this year and Boyle County's....just sayin'...

Ryle is also at Boyle's? It's same weekend as Greenwood, isn't it? NDA is at Boyle 4/18-4/19 and play Boyle, ACS & Sacred Heart.

  2. In 4 inning....I don't have the stats but believe all the girls got on base yesterday.

NOTRE DAME 15, HOLMES 0 – Junior right-hander Haylee Smith threw a no-hitter, went 4-for-4 with four doubles and drove in four runs.

Smith was one walk away from a perfect game.

Sophomore right fielder Abby Jones and senior left fielder Kelsey Michael both belted three-run doubles. Jones’ came in the second inning and Michael smacked hers in the fourth.

    HOLMES 000-0—0 0 2

    at NDA 261-6—15 13 0

    WP: Smith (3-0, 9 K’s). LP: Brashear. HITTING LEADERS: ND—Smith 4-4, 4 2B, 4 RBI; Jones 2-3, 2B, 3 RBI; Michael 2-3, 2B, 3 RBI; Finke 2-2, 3B. RECORDS: Notre Dame 5-1, Holmes 3-3.

    Sorry for any misspellings.

Keep in mind this is the JMU version. It's not my job to know who all the best players are. I get my information by watching some games, talking to others that watch games, looking at box scores etc. I know I clearly don't have it right but I don't have too!!!

And better yet.....you just say it how you see it! :thumb:

  4. What's everyones thoughts on Ryle this year. Since Softballfan burned that bridge we hear little to nothing about them.

In the past I would say Ryle was the most hated team in NKY mainly bc they beat the crap out of everyone. But now that they no longer sit on top of the region (at least not at this moment) and with the coaching change will people still view them in the same way that they have in the past?

  5. Love the list Skinny! Thanks for all you do for the kids! Much appreciatied.

With that said, I think the players below would have had a spot on my list. In no particular order.

Sr. SS Brooke Dossett (Gallatin County); Sr.OF Sydney Himes (Conner); Jordan Kramer (St. Henry); Sr. SS Bella Steinle (Ryle); Fr. C Alexia Snelbaker (Conner); Sr. 3B Hannah Sullivan (Notre Dame); So. P Bailey Spencer (Highlands)

She may have been gone from the radar for 2 years but she hasn't missed a beat coming back. New coach is surely happy to welcome her back!

  6. Congrats to all!

A really special congrats to Kennedy Baugh from NDA who made it in both the 9th with NDA and the 8th with Simon Kenton. She will be busy playing for both teams.

I could be wrong on this in the 9th but was Odom from Dixie a senior last year or is she still at Dixie?

I love me some coaches polls.

Kennedy is just that good to earn both regions lists!! However, I'm gonna bet that the 8th region teams (other than SK) are probably a little happy they won't have to see her at/behind the plate this season.

As for state coaches poll, this year should hopefully earn more love for the 9th region. We actually have double digits coaches/assistants that are KSCA members! Way to go coaches!!

  7. Will do, dear...If your husband let's you know what state your wonderful daughter is playing in this weekend, send her a big bear hug from me!!

LOL!! She's in her favorite state, TN! I know because I had to tell him where to take her. ;) I will make sure to tell him to give her that bear hug!

  8. Yes, you are reading it right. The Breds need a "swift kick in the pants" right now.

    Now to the recap.........

Fr. Haley Meyers has a "prefect game" through the 1st 4 innings, however Sr. SS Megan Workman, leading off the 5th, hits a sinking liner that is perfectly placed between the 3rd basemen and left-fielder for the Greendevils 1st hit of the game.

    The 1st 6 hitters for the Breds go down via 3 fly-outs, 2 ground-outs, & a K.

Fr. 3rd basemen Alex Burkart, in her 1st varsity start, leads off the 3rd inning with a single through the 3-4 hole into right-field (albeit on a 3-0 count...she misunderstood the TAKE sign:lol2:). The next batter, Fr. Kennedy Bin drills one through the 5-6 hole into left and both complete the double steal and are at 2nd & 3rd. After a Lexi Potts pop-out, Casey Kohls hits one to SS, but the 1st basemen drops the ball, Burkart off on contact scores.

The NewCath 4th sees 7 batters come to bat and 3 score. Alex Burkart gets an RBI ground-out to SS and Fr. left-fielder Lexi Potts (also making her 1st varsity start) gets a 2-run single that draws chalk, as it "rockets" down the 3rd base and left-field line.

NewCath gets its last run of the night in the 5th, as Alex Burkart knocks in, big sister Taylor, on another ground-out to SS.

The Greendevils however would not go without a fight in the bottom of the 7th. To this point Meyers has given up only the one hit and no other Greendevil has reached base. The inning starts off with a K, but the next two batters are hit by the pitch. Meyers gets the next batter to go down on strikes. However, on a 2-2 pitch, Jr. Samantha Scott hits an ABSOLUTE MISSILE to the fence in right-center for a double, that easily score 2. The next batter hits one to 3rd that is fielded by Alex Burkart, but her throw to big sister Taylor at 1st is high and off line allowing Scott to score. Meyers then walks the next batter, but fights back to strikeout the the next batter to end the game. (thank God).

    The Breds top 6 hitters....1-20, 6BB, 1K.

I have to give it up to the Dayton Greendevils, Coach Beth Hunt is doing one hell of a job with this group of girls. They always stay "upbeat" in the dugout, give 100% effort at all times, and have fun playing the game. They might not win a lot of games, but I have the utmost respect for this team. :ylsuper:

    Congrats proud Dad!!!

  9. Yes.

Seems to be no problem having 6 football state champions. Multiple winners in track and field, cross country.

I don't see a problem having a tournament for the smaller schools in the sports that are not classified.

So then why not have classes in all sports? Then no one can argue it's not fair, right?

  10. watched this game...pretty evenly matched teams, I thought...FC pitcher threw hard, but was having a tough time staying in the zone, 5+ HBPs and multiple WPs allowed Collins to mount a late comeback...Collins pitcher is a pretty good lefty, and only 7th grade...lot of time for her get better...both teams had some big hits, and both booted and threw the ball around a bit, as well...entertaining game to watch...ended with a bases loaded, walk off SAC Fly by FC's pitcher, who can smack the ball...she had a rocket RBI 3B to dead CF on the first pitch she saw of the new season, and probably only 5'3" max.

Congrats to Coach Bibb and his girls. Sounds like it may have been Sarah Bibb pitching....she can definitely smack the ball!

Heavy....your wife is going to tell you to get another job if you need to fill your downtime ;)
