  1. Franklin-Simpson returns a very strong defense. They did lose 4 key players imo from the defense but have some very good kids coming in behind those. Most of them played as much as the starters did. They could possibly end up being better defensively and the offense will be very explosive by the time they hit district play if not sooner.

  2. Wayne county will return a veteran team. They will return 9 starters on offense from the semifinals. They will return 7 starters on defense as well as two sophomores that played meaningful minutes in the playoffs. They fully expect to play JC in the semifinals at home.

Certainly JC will be preseason #1. They will be strong talented and well coached. But they lose 18 seniors. Contrary to prior representations they lose at least three O linemen and a tight end. Plus 4A player of the year Geordan Blanton (well deserved). JC also loses a beast of a fullback. They also lose 3 D linemen and their best linebacker. Also they lose their best corner that had picks in the semi's and finals. Still the players they return are very good hard nosed football players.

So I expect a hard fought battle between Wayne and JC with the winner the favorite to take the championship. That is if all goes as planned. But that's why we play the games and not pick the champ.

Here's to the expectation of a great 2017 season. Wayne's countdown clock is set to the opener against Woodford.

Sounds about right. But I think JC lost some other key player positions not mentioned but the point is well taken. Sounds like WC will give them a battle. Good luck!

  3. F-S has a very good core returning. They will be a top 5 team imo. One game does not reflect the team F-S had this season. I think Saul Brady will be one of the best in class 4A. F-S had 4 sophomores start or play major minutes in the championship game. Good luck to the Wildcats in your off-season.

  4. Good guys sometimes have a tough go. Not the first time he has been let go. They wanted him out at Harrison after a long stay, LCA as well, and Now Rowan, While I think he is a good coach and a good guy. This is not the first time he has been let go. What were the reasons at those places? I have no doubt the Admin at Rowan is weak they way they have handled this proves that. But what are the complaints? Does anyone know?

After doing some fact checking I find that Graham retired from Harrison to work in a private system to double dip as they say. He was let go at LCA for nothing other than win loss is what I am told.

  5. Maybe you should look at the success Harrison and Lex. Christian has had since he left. That might be a good indicator of the job he did. Don't know his age. Doubt he is 65 but heck there is a guy named Saban in his 60's doing ok. I also think there are many adults that care what he did 20 years ago. They were kids that played for him. Seems like someone just wants to take a shot at the guy for no other reason except to bring a negative tone. Whether or not he ever coaches again I bet the amount of good he has done will last long after he is not coaching and has left this earth. Graham is a builder upper and not a tear down guy.

  6. This is dead on. There are 3 times as many good coaches in this state than there are good jobs. Good programs can make average coaches look great and bad programs can make great coaches look average or even bad at times. It would be interesting to study how many championship coaches won championships prior to arriving at the traditional powers they coach now.

One that comes to mind is Chuck Smith. He built Boyle into what it is today.

Completely agree but this was with great support from the principal to hire coaches, add in school weights etc. Chuck did it but was allowed to have the tools that many other coaches in Ky. are denied on a regular basis.

  7. Really don't think there is anyone out there IMO. The lack of support and the loss of students won't attract good coaches.

I get your point. Honestly I am just curious as to what would be a description of the coach that would be a good fit at Bell.

  8. 3RD AND SEVEN

Why run to the short side of the field?

    Thanks.

Most coaches tend to run short side to their sideline. It does help to be able see what is happening better and to coach your players on errors they might be making. It also can help the coach make adjustments. I would possible run to short side of the field on third and seven if I have already decided I'm going for it on 4th down. Many running teams (see Georgia Tech and Navy) already know that when they get to a certain spot on the field they are going for any 4th and makable situations.

  9. Good young coach that would be a great fit at Bell County would be Josh Jaggers. I don't know if he has any interest but his background fits the style Dudley ran and he gets along with everybody. Has a ton of football knowledge.

  10. Fanofyours you need to do your BGpreps thread homework. Prior to SW embarrassing SC . Jacobcarey5530, and tommy2stone both said SW was overrated. Also , I liked the numbers thing and the out of district comment as well. SW fans expected that one to pop up. Name me one school that's not in a one school town . That is any different on that one . People need to except the fact that there is a new kid in town. There's room for two great football teams in the BG erea. Get used to it because SW is not going away for a while. In any class!

Read your second sentence to yourself. That is the sort of goofy stuff my earlier post is referring. So because you won solidly (not by 60) but soundly your team embarrassed the other team? C'mon. The Shelby kids played hard and clean so how is it embarrassing? I was always under the impression that if you give your very best and get beat by a better team then you should not be embarrassed. And since SW is ranked #1 and is dominant why do you call out the Shelby kids like that? If Shelby were clearly better in all categories and more talented then they should be embarrassed for losing. This is just my opinion.

  11. There has been a common thread all your long on the site South Warren is overrated and not as good as everybody thinks they are until we play you then South Warren is all that and a bag of chips I've watched post all year longfrom John Harden to Franklin Simpson to Shelby County they all changed their tune after they lined it up against us so Johnson Central fans you are more than welcome to start talking about the Spartans and how they are overrated you'll find out, December 6 at 7 o'clock.and yes you have a very good team your big and strongand I wish you nothing but good luck when we meet at WKU!

Sometimes some of the odd things that some SW fans put on here are so goofy. I really don't recall seeing any FS fans, Allen or others say that SW was overrated this season. This post in particular is one of those types of posts. What is really sad is that the folks that post things like this really believe that people saying these kinds of things. Your are ranked tops in the poles. You have the best team and yet you still must call out other schools, teams etc. to make you feel good about your team. Everyone that plays you in your area really knows that you have 4 to 5 key starters that either don't live in your county or were at another school coming into high school. And that is fine. Kids can do what they like in that regard. But stop acting like you invented the game of football. You are an excellent team without a championship at this point. I feel like you will get one this coming week. Last season going into the semifinals some SW posters were on here blasting BG as not being as good as SW etc. The fact is SW has 5A numbers and should be playing in BG district but they don't. Now that is the fault of the way the KHSAA allowed the calculations to be figured from what I understand. You were 4A numbers while playing 3A ball and we know that. So ok. You are the best. You still must play JC and win and I think SW will. But for the sake of not looking absurd stop making this stuff up about how everybody has said you can't play and you are overrated. I would like to say that I was glad to hear that SW played a clean game with very little spitting and stuff like that against SC. Maybe seeing it publicly stated made someone address it. Winning a state championship should be enough. You really don't have to bring all the other opponents and their fans down with classless accusations to feel good about your team. It has been my experience that people who act this way either didn't ever play the sport or were on really bad teams when they played. I think there are some teams in your same town that have had some pretty good success at winning championships. I don't see them dogging the opponents or making up silly points to make themselves feel good about their team. This is just my thoughts and opinion on some of the goofy statements. They are not really important in the big scheme of things but your kids and program deserves positive attention right now. Some of you detract from their hard work in my opinion.
