  1. Look for Ebarb to get more touches on the offensive side of the ball. Article in The Enquirer this week had Coach Trosper indicating they have been limiting his touches until the weather cools off. He essentially plays every play of the game, including special teams and defense. So, Cougar fans, it sounds like many of you will see what you've been asking for the previous four games.

  2. I think Conner is flying under the radar. If it's at Conner, this might be an interesting contest. Good luck to the Cougars.

The game is at Conner. Great crowd last Friday for the Boone Co. game. I'd expect another good turnout for this game. Good to see the Conner students supporting the school and team. The "C-Section" was as large as I've seen at a Conner event in a long, long time.

  3. Big jump in opposition in SK. Boone is so limited it is hard to tell how good Conner is.

    SK is the heavy favorite.

I'm with you on this. As I've said many times, Conner is clearly a bigger, stronger, and faster team than last year, and the year of experience has really helped what is still a relatively young team. Great win last night (always fun beating Boone), but next week should provide a better indicator of how much better this year's team is.

  4. Conner (or even Beechwood fans) how does this Beechwood team compare to last year?

And Conner has to be much improved over last year?

As I've stated in other threads, Conner is noticeably a bigger, stronger, and

faster team than last year. They only had 6 seniors on last year's team. Beechwood pounded them a year ago in the preseason scrimmage. Reality is this was only a scrimmage, however, I think it showed Conner is much improved over last year. Both teams still have many things to improve on, but from a Conner perspective I saw many things that were encouraging, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

To be fair, Conner's first TD did come after the clock expired in the first half. However, the same opportunity was afforded to Beechwood on their final drive in the second half as their final play(s) were run well after the clock hit 0:00.

  5. Final from Ft. Mitchell.

Score pretty indicative of the outcome. Conner fumbled twice inside their own 20. Beechwood had a pick 6 called back on a penalty. Great evening to watch football.

Conner D was the story in my opinion (at least from a Conner perspective). After letting Beechwood drive 80 yards for a score on their opening drive they really tightened up, swarmed to the ball, and played really well.

  6. A few observations after attending the Conner intra-squad scrimmage today:

    1. Conner is clearly a much bigger, stronger, and faster team than last year. Especially up front on both the offensive and defensive lines

    2. Conner will score a lot of points this year

    3. Kicker Nate Eberhard is going to have a great season

    4. Appears Padgett is going both ways at both QB and CB

    5. Ebarb, Buckler, and Nyers are going to have big, big years on offense

    6. Defense seemed to swarm to the ball a little better than years past, but, will continue to be the X-Factor

    7. This team genuinely seems to like each other and has very good chemistry. A lot of kids rooting for/pulling for others.

Again, only an intra-squad scrimmage, but saw a lot of positives today.

  7. Young QB in the ranks. Heard KP may move to WR. That was a while ago though.

Based on early reports and 7 on 7's, it would appear the QB job is Padgett's to lose. That said, anything is possible. As for the WRs, look for big seasons out of Buckler and Nyers (who played on one leg the last few games of 2014). I think Ebarb is capable of having a Cameron Fogle type of a year. Kid is going to be doing it all.

  8. I think there are a lot fewer question marks around SK (and Highlands, but that is stating the obvious, regardless of what was lost to graduation) than there are with CovCath, Ryle, Cooper, Dixie, et al. I hope I'm wrong, but I think HHS and SK are much the best this year. As much as we all get on tilt on SK due to their most loyal and vocal supporter, I believe this is a very good year for them, and I'm just not sure Cooper or Ryle will have enough to knock them off. That said, Ryle and their new QB are, as Hellbird accurately termed it, the real wildcard in NKY this year.

Could Conner be a team considered to be a "wildcard" this year? They return all of their skill-players on offense, and the O line looks to be bigger and stronger this year. I guess the prevailing question for them, as is typically the case, will they be able to stop anyone on defense?

  9. I was told this week that Ian Collier is moving back to Indiana. I was really looking forward to watching him play this year on both sides of the ball. Tough loss for both Trosper and Hicks for the upcoming school year.

  10. 17/18U Kentucky Edge

    Colten Downs (Simon Kenton)

    Robert Smith (Simon Kenton)

    Royce McGee (Dixie)

    Artie Santomo (Boone County)

    Cameron Pitzer (Cov Cath)

    Adam Picirrillo (Cov Cath)

    Gavin Meyer (Cov Cath)

    Ryan McGinness (Cov Cath)

    Zack Sprague (Conner)

    Cody Ware (Conner)

    Kyler Padgett (Conner)

    Austin Franklin (Conner)

    Ryan Ward (Conner)

  11. Ummmm was a joke. My point was to give the QB job to a kid that has already put in the work on the Varsity squad and has proved he can do what it takes to win.

I think Clyde is referring to a certain poster last year that fearlessly predicted that his son would be the starting QB for Conner, which ultimately did not work out that way.
