  1. Nick Craddock gets the start and the W. Armstrong gets the L for CCH.

CCH had beaten Conner twice already this season, so a good win and some redemption for the Cougars.

Borman busts out of a mild slump and went 2-2 and pitched the final out for the save. Manning went 2-3.

CCH leaders were Pitzer and Picirrillo who had 2 hits apiece.

Conner is now 16-4 (2-1) on the season.

  2. As a parent of 2 boys, I always encouraged them both to play as many sports as they could, for as long as they could, assuming they still wanted to play and were good enough to continue to do so. Fortunately, they both played football, basketball, and baseball from the time they were 5 until they graduated high school. They were both lucky enough to have offers to play in college, but both decided it was time to move on to the next phase of their lives and just attend college as a "normal" kid, enjoying college life and focusing on their degrees.

The reality is, most people, including my kids, will never make a nickel playing professional sports. Why not encourage kids to build memories and bonds with people and enjoy as many different experiences, obstacles, and accomplishment as possible in their developmental years and through high school? I know they both have forged life-long bonds with other players and their families that will always be cherished and look back on with fondness.

If you are trying to make a kid focus on one sport you are doing him/her a disservice. Again, this is assuming they WANT to play and are gifted enough to make the team. And, selfishly, I'm glad they both chose the road they did, because we received as many good memories and friendships as parents as they did as players.

  3. Yep really. Refs could have swallowed their whistles in both district games but instead the same lead ref gave them both to Conner. You win some and lose some and today Conner lost.

I don't see one comment on here about the officiating except yours. The refs didn't "win" it for Conner in the 33rd. They didn't "lose" it for them today.

And, if you are referring to the charge call in the Ryle game I've watched it 100 times and still can't tell. Certainly, not the egregious call you are claiming it to be.

Today, was a hard fought HS basketball game. Conner played their hearts out. Congrats to CCH for moving on.

And, to feed your fire, Cole is the beneficiary of ALOT of calls.

  4. Cooper is playing on the road, without their 2 best players, and trying to beat Conner for a third time. Sometimes the latter is irrelevant, however, both games this year were decided by 5 points and Conner held a lead late in the game in each of the losses, so there may be some truth to that this time around.

Ironic, that it's Conner who is healthy now, as they've had their fair share of injuries this year.

I expect a predictably close, hard fought game, as is always the case between these two teams, and will take Conner to win this one by the familiar margin of 5. The experience of Conner's 4 seniors will be the difference.

  5. Conner qb Kyle Padget, CovCath Cameron Pitzer, Beechwood WR Brett Slusher, Holmes Sean Sullivan and RB from Simon Kenton Dillon Powell.

    Kyler Padgett

Congrats to all 5 young men! They had exceptional seasons on and off the field. All are worthy candidates. Good luck to each of them at the banquet and whatever they chose to do after graduation!
