  1. Based on my opinion, obviously. I have seen JH and Bell in person this year and my OPINION is JH would not compete for 48 minutes against them. JH seems to be a team that capitalizes on BIG plays and Bell won't allow enough of those to lose. I am not saying they aren't a good team because they are. Stick to 5A, you have enough to worry about there and don't need to be looking down.

Ballard? I am just one of those guys. Never liked them. Haven't seen them play this year. Totally unqualified remark (as are most comments on here). Ballard is a decent team, just not good enough to compete with Bell this year IMO. I live 3.5 hours from Bell. I have no support of them other than to say they are the best looking team in 4A right now and one of the best all classes combined. There are matchups everyone would like to see and football, after all, is a game of matchups. I believe Bell wins 4A this year, their bracket lends a lot to that. 39-1 the past 4 years is pretty impressive. Although their playoff record in the same time frame doesn't quite line up with their regular season, this year is all that matters.

I also think that Bell wins 4a this year. However, that doesn't lead them to being better than a 5a and a 6a school that have one another as their only losses. I am also not sure how a Bell would match up against Ballard's speed and spread offense. One thing is for sure, we will never know. I do however think that Bell should have taken the opportunity to play Highlands the next two years. Isn't having tough competition in regular season what prepares you for tough playoff games?

  2. Why not? I'll give you Highlands has a stronger schedule no suprise. And maybe Ryle, but not as clear cut IMO.

I thnk Ryle played 7 or 8 teams with winning records.

Boyle also played 8 teams with winning marks.

I'm not sure you can just easily dismiss Boyle's schedule as ridiculous or laughable.

I didn't say their schedule was laughable. I just said that they should be playing more high ranked teams as a program of their caliber.

  3. So a 7 point win over a 3-7 Cooper team, or a 7 point win over a 6-5 Campbell team is impressive?

As for you second question, IMO Boyle is an overall better team this year with a more balanced offense. On the defense, Boyle has had 3 starting players miss over half the season due to injuries. As of this Friday they are all back. If the D gets anywhere close to last year, without a doubt we are better.

Are you going to argue that Boyle or Bell has played as tough of a schedule as Ryle or Highlands?

  4. At this point I would think the only rankings that matter are the ones that come out on 12-3-10 and 12-4-10. Anything posted earlier is just for people to get on here and bark about. The what-ifs of the multi-class system will never be solved, especially on here.

But to get my 2 cents worth in. Bell would smoke JH and Ballard. They will beat Boyle on the mountain soon enough. If it wasn't so far away, this is a game I would like to see. I know nothing of SK so I won't say anything either way.

Boyle will be seen. However, it will be tough to put anything else to the test since they didn't have any out of class state powers on their schedule during regular season. It is dissapointing to hear that Hilton refused to schedule Highlands the next two years.

  5. Green County played 1 in Top 25 in Bell County and another that was a previous Top 25 in Lone Oak. They went 1-1

Also, to have Bell Co. #9 to me is rediculous. No way a Simon Kenton, John Hardin, Ballard, or Boyle County would beat them. We will get to see Bell Co./Boyle Co. matchup soon. Is Mr. Cantrell even watching High School games?

I agree that Bell is likely better than John Hardin and possibly Boyle. I wouldn't be so sure when it comes to Simon or Ballard. How many high powered passing attacks has Bell faced this season?

  6. Boyle County and Bell County have done something that Highlands and Ryle has not. Win all their games on their schedule. Personally I would like the Rebels or Bobcats chances against any KY team this year. I think it would be very, very competitive. Just because someone's opinion is that two undefeated teams should be ahead of 2 one loss teams is not Ridiculous, or even being called out as not seeing alot of football this year.

I didn't say they wouldn't be competative, I said that it is riduculous based on a couple factors that Boyle or Bell should be ranked ahead of Highland's or Ryle. Those factors are strength of schedule and less than impressive wins over some weaker opponents. Do you really believe that Boyle wasn't a better team last year?

  7. I agree you can't go by scores. A 14 point win is a win, just like 55-8 or 54-13. :thumb:

You can go by competition. Not comparing scores on a running clock is entirely different than having a team like that stay with you. I would also say this, Boyle and Bell haven't played good enough competition to judge how good they are. Of course, Boyle is going to change that next year.

  8. I'd rank them above Boyle County for sure. They have been the better more consistent team thus far between the two. I'd rank both above Highands and Ryle. I'd put Bell at 2 and Boyle at 3. Yes, I believe the top two teams in 4A are better than any team in 5A at the moment. Just my opinion. At the very least they should both be ranked in the top 5 in the state overall.

14 point win over Knox Central and you think Bell is better than Highlands and Ryle? Have you also seen some of the teams that have given Boyle a game? Your claim doesn't make sense.

    Ridiculous

  10. I was using the imagery of a trophy to prove my point, yet you kind of did it in your own post.. These teams may not have gotten a trophy for going and getting spanked, but they did get rewarded by making money that they shouldn't have.. I know, I know you are going to say something about that comment not being fair and what about the kids and the program and blah blah blah.. But in the end we are ultimately rewarding in some way, shape or form these teams for losing and not being competitive. IMO each school is solely responsible for it's athletic survival, not the KHSAA by putting them in the playoffs to make some extra cash.. Go out and raise money if you need things, have the players volunteer somewhere and have the company or whatever pay the athletic program.. Have a lift-a-thon, so many ways to increase cash and I would be embarrassed if I were a team who went to the playoffs with 0,1,2 even maybe 3 wins just to make some extra money and have my players/team get obliterated.. Talk about exploitation.... Interesting to see as well if these 3 win teams that made it through the first round advance any farther...

Most teams don't make money once you split a normally weak gate and often pay for a distanced travel expense.

  11. I agree with TDY on these comments. Why are you making such a big issue out of nothing? Ryle is moving in the right direction under Coach Warner. Why does there always have to be one bad apple in the bunch proclaiming that they speak for all. Look, Coach Warner has been nothing but 1st class with his comments regarding Dale and the Highlands program and yes that includes its facilitilites whether you or others like it or not. Pls do not suggest that this is the reason Ryle lost the first one at Highlands. If so, then thats too bad because the the true Highlands fans have plenty of respect for the Ryle program even before the second game even came about. Pls dont beat a dead horse that has been racing this way for probably more yrs than before you were ever born, Heck, they have been doing it this way for maybe even longer than TOG has been alive. LOL. I can also assure you that "Granddaddy" laws will prevail unless of course someone wants to flip the bill. Your comments on this issues is about as classless as it gets for a Ryle fan. Ryle has excellent families and educators in there system and I have lots of respect for all of them. This thread is sorry too imo. It has zero impact on the outcome of the game.

I can guarantee you that Coach Warner really doesnt care about the things that you are claiming. He is worried about winning the programs 1st ever State Championship for Ryle. At least I hope he is. Go Birds 20n10

Let me get this straight, it is classless for someone to bring up safety issues at Highland's football stadium? Is that because they are questioning Highlands, or because safety issues don't exist? BTW, I don't see where any of these post suggested that this was the reason Ryle lost the first game.

  12. I just read on here that there were anywhere between 25 to 27 penalties called in the game and 14 of those penalties were against Holmes. That means that the other 11 to 13 penalties were against WJ. I ask, were all of the penalties against WJ legit? Were there any penalties against JC that were drive killers or big plays called back? How do you know that there wasn't a penalty called against JC that would have led to a score if wasn't called? Was there a penalty against JC that helped Holmes continue a drive or had an effect on field position during a change of possession? Or how about penalties that should have been called that were not. I realize its frustrating when a TD gets called back from a penalty but those aren't the only penalties that affect the outcome of a game. There is no way you can say for a fact that the penalty call at the end of the game was the reason any team lost.

I said in a previous post that Holmes was not as good as their record indicated and they weren't much of a threat to go deep in the playoffs. I really didn't expect them to lose in the first round but I'm not necessarily shocked that they did.

    Agreed.

  13. A friend of mine who lives in NKY and sent his two sons to Cincy St. X for academics told me that they could not play sports while residing in NKY. It was a OHSAA rule.

It is, and one that the KHSAA should adopt for our state. If you dont live in KY, you shouldn't be competing in KY athletics.

  14. Apology accepted !

I don't think anyone is lying. I don't know how reliable his information source is.

If Highlands has a place on their schedule for a quality opponent , they will play them , period. That includes Tor X or any other great football programs ! (Oh or Ky ) :D

They should have a heck of a tough schedule then next year. I hear they still have four games to fill and a very tough time finding opponents.:thumb:
